Im trying to get sober. I know its corny, but you're not alone. This song helped my brother get sober, and now im using it to do the same thing. I feel horrible and its easier to stay drunk, but its it's better if we dont do that. Its really fun untill you wake up with that hangover tyen you think, "I'll never do it again", but you do even though its bad for you.

I've listened to this more time than I can count. It's still a comfort in a way to remind myself I'm not the only one that's going through it. 7 years clean (dealers choice opiates/benzos/methamphetamine). Some of those demons are still lingering. I hit bottom when I started hating the drugs more than I hated myself. That was only going to end one way and then the realization came that having kids meant that it wasn't my life to take.
@@OvelNick I have two kids myself. Sole caretaker. Their dad got clean with me, then walked away after our youngest was born last year. I ended up relapsing because of it. My mom kept my kids. I ran out one day, and starting coming down hard, then I realized what the fuck I was doing, i came back home and took care of them while detoxing myself. Been sober since for them. I struggle with it everyday, but I don't let the addiction win. My kids deserve better than that. One step at a time.

41 year old mechanic in small town Michigan, step father of 3 beautiful kids. My wife has been in the hospital the last week recovering from a crushed vertebrae. And as i lay here sleepless trying to figure out how im going to hold everything together i stumped across this song and it was like the thoughts in my head put to music. I probably already commented this but here it is Nov 26, 2023 and I am still listening to this song. 3 years ago it was to help release the tears I was keeping inside while going through a divorce while it seemed like nobody really cared or wasn't aware of the demons inside I was fighting. This song helped me feel like I wasn't alone.
3 years later I listen so that I remember what ive overcome as I survived and I am happily engaged to the love of my life.

Most people if they know what to look for will find significance in the forms of numbers in all of my movies! Example: gravestone in " Loving You" (year) 1878 = ? (1+8+7+8 = 24). You have to look at the movies. My hero James Dean died at the age of 24, but I was on top of the world then and wanted to live. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). I will start about 1974 when the thought first came to me about faking my death. I have always been fascinated with the occult and other spiritual things. When I first saw a wax dummy of myself made by a Mr. Cooper I was fascinated with it. For some time I had thought if it was possible? Could I pull this thing off? I had asked Mr Cooper if he could make another wax dummy for me. He said he could. I in turn said I wanted him to do it and keep it strictly confidential. When I had mentioned it to a very few close friends (Joe Esposito, Larry Geller) they did not think I was serious. I was tired of being Elvis Presley, my health was deteriorating. I go thru a lot of ups and downs since 1977 and have lived in many states but I insisted I needed to be in a warm climate. My personal thoughts are that my fans will understand. That is very important to me. I just could not face myself any more after seeing myself in the mirror and that is where Larry Geller came in. He asked if he could write a book, and I gave him my blessing. "If I Can Dream" is the title and I like his book. He had filled my head with spiritual thoughts and made me believe we could pull this off. If I had stayed longer I think I would have been booed off the stage. That is why I chose the date 8-16-77. Do you know how many famous people passed away on that date? The great Robert Johnson died on 8-16 and he was born in 1935! Babe Ruth, and Bela Lugosi and many others. I must say I was very nervous that day 8-16. But it had to be done before I went on the road where I would not have been able to pull it off. Did you know there are secret compartments in Graceland that very few people know about! A few like Vester would joke about my being alive but no one took him serious. Many of my friends would ask if I were still alive and they have their doubts but as it was I might have died broke and just a shell of myself. I was given an injection that looked like I was dead but the people closest to me knew better. Believe me I had my doubts that this could be pulled off. It’s ok to cry… it’s ok to be mad… it’s ok to be happy … it’s ok to be scared.. you’re more of a man to accept this can make you cry for all sorts of reasons and to stand up and testify it for anyone here to see is brave. It’s just showing your soul. I don’t see anything you should be ashamed of my friend. My tears flowed too. Love is also an emotion as much as a connection. From another perspective... I grew up in a war zone due to an abusive, alcoholic Father. When these videos started, I was just a few months leaving a relationship with an alcoholic partner. I was so angry. Watching these videos, hearing the words of so many... brought me to ugly cries every time. I was able to find understanding, empathy and feelings other than anger. This helped me to remember the love that had once existed, let go of regret and HEAL. I would never go back because the abuse was too much. But, I don't linger in the bad feelings and I really believe I was able to work through this because of THIS project and the divine timing! Thank you Dax and all contributors! ❤

As a 70 year old woman, believe me I can relate to all the words being sung. I’m still in pain, no amount of therapy makes the pain go away like escaping into the bottle of wine or whiskey. Recently, I was told I have liver issues, now my decision is to let it kill me, or change. I had to be mother and father to 3 small children, and the whole time I did nothing, no weed, no alcohol, no pills, just raw feelings from all the abuse of others, from a little girl to a grown woman. Now, I’m alone in my feelings with weed and alcohol. I say this to say take care of yourself before you wake up one day to look in the mirror and see 70, and the pain is still in your eyes.

He has been on the alcohol and drugs since i can remember and he went off the deep end when i got taken away from him by CPS. He passed away last November just after his 51st birthday, I'll never get to ask him what he had been fighting his whole life but at least his struggle is finally over. R.I.P dad ❤

I work at a liquor store. Bout a week and a half ago we found out one of our regulars died after mixing fireball shots with fentanyl. I don’t want his fate. It helps someone very close to my heart is a recovering meth addicts so we’re each other’s rock

Anyone can tell how much Dax has grown, not just as an artist, but as a person. He isn't the same Dax as when he started. Dax is a fucking beast of a lyricist now.
I found this song about 2 years ago when i started drug rehab and it helped tremendously but a year and a half into sobriety my mother passed away. Less than 2 months after the rest of my family moved over 1000 miles away and i had to put my pit down. I was able to stay sober for bit longer but the pain of everyone i lost caught up to me around Christmas but I was able to keep it to a one time decision. Now i barely sleep and have lost about 40 lbs due to depression and being diagnosed with diabetes. The trade off from substance abuse is pure pain and agony and im not sure how much longer i can withstand before fully going back to everything that kept me off my sorrows.
Stay on your purpose bro. You got this. Do ANYTHING to keep yourself focused away from the bottle. Volunteer to help others. Build a new community around you. You got this.

Some days it would be so much easier to just slip back into the long-grown habits, the addictions, the shell. But those habits/addictions/shells didn't help us or bring us true joy, and slipping back into them still won't.
Keep your chin up. Keep striving. Give yourself some grace. Show those grandbabies how much grit you got, and that love can buoy us.

Long song, but i woke up in rehab after about 17 years of long prison time and addiction . I want to reach out to your guys in early addiction, it's dangerous to not get help, and i was one of those people not willing to sober up. I ended up hurting someone in a high speed, she was 89 years old and about died. By the grace of God she made it. Im in rehab and avoided prison and that should hit someone close to home. Its not 2 late to get help : )
