In this Sensible Transfers series, In this series, we will analyse teams, identify problem areas, and suggest solutions in the form of incoming players.
Manchester United are at the beginning of a Rangnick revolution. Famed for his high energy high pressing Red Bull teams Rangnick needs players that can cope with this type of game. Whilst he may have players ready for this system, United have holes in their squad that need to be filled with a Rangnick type of player.

@@leeladharan2641 it's just a bit of a running joke among commenters because Tifo were very hot on him a few windows ago (before he went to PSV). So when you see tifo videos recommending transfers that don't mention him, often someone in the comments will.
2 years later and Tifo still recommend Sangare to United. Hopefully Rangnick will bring some sense to the transfer policy.

Tifo have been recommending him for years, and now that he's moved to PSV he's actually very good. That's some transfer vision right there! I'm 100% confident that he will play in the prem in a couple of seasons.

Maguire didn't get much help from McFred or an aging Matic since joining United. He'll step up to his level as soon as the gaps in midfield are plugged. In the same way that Ndidi is making Evans look like a human shaped brick wall at the moment.
@@royvandermarel3953 Of course better midfielders would help him, but in my opinion he's just not good enough for united. I watch every United game and I struggle to pick out anything that he actually excels at

I just love how Donny van de Beek doesn't get mentioned even though he is a perfect fit for Rangnik's style of play in Central or attacking midfield
Based on what? There is this obsession with Donny even though he has never actually proven he can cut it at United.
@@TheShizaarius He hasnt proven he can cut it because he hasnt gotten anywhere close to the minutes needed. First Ole ignored him and now Ralf is doing the same. There must be an internal agenda against him within the club. Most of the time he plays, he is vastly superior to the other central midfielders. When he had a full 90 minutes at the deeper CM position, it was vs Wolves alongside Matic at the end of last season, and he was the MoTM then. He needs the opportunities or he will be gone and so will Pogba, and that's a lot of money just floating away due to the incompetence of the club.
@@satyangunasekaran9961 There must be a reason why he does not get picked. I suspect that he lacks fitness to last the full 90, and would therefore cost you a sub every time he starts. Perhaps he could get more minutes as a sub, I agree, but I trust that professional coaches and managers (especially Rangnick) know what they are doing more than us fans.

IMO: the issue with Donny is that he excells in drifting into attacking areas that are already occupied in the OGS and Rangnick systems. He would get in the way of Ronaldo, Rashford and/or Fernandes if he was playing his regular style. So either he needs to adapt to a more conservative playing style that doesn't suit him, or someone from the frontline should be benched in favor of him. Can't see any of those two options happening
@@royvandermarel3953 Ok, that much I can agree with :) I think he was brought in as a potential backup for Bruno, but now so many things have changed that he might be better off if he just leaves. It all depends on Rangnick really.
Mazraoui has been pretty injury prone the last few seasons. But he has been really impressive this season.
Having watched United too much this season. I don't think pressing in cm is the problem. I think they should look for a good ball carrier and passer. They lack confidence and some good ball retention and rotation deeper on the pitch. If they focus too much on pressing midfielder I think they would keep having the same problems on the ball.
Tbf a pressing midfielder can progress the ball well too. Its not mutually exclusive
It's just a focus on different qualities as a priority. A good passer with some dribbling to play out of defence with decent pressing and tackling number over a good presser and tackler with decent passing numbers. More busquets than casemiro. More rodri than ndidi.
I know what you mean. It all points to finding a Matic replacement as he’s excellent defensively and great with ball distribution/progression. Replacing him won’t be easy so we have to get it spot on.

I agree Fred and Mctominay are both capable of being energetic in the midfield but lack the passing ability to bridge the space between the defense and attack.

@@jm-je4tl I disagree they spent the most in Europe in the summer and people seem to be happy with their performances so I don’t think they will do a whole lot, especially with the lower need for depth considering they are playing once a week.

Best football channel and a great speaker
Really intriguing video there. What would concern me though if I were a Man Utd fan is that it's all shaping up to be trying to sign players in order to fit a system, meaning that a lot of existing players who don't fit that system will be inevitably shipped out. Against Wolves, what stuck out for me is that what Wolves have been doing is playing a certain way for years and are now doing very well out if it. Indeed, they pressed Utd all over the pitch but still had room for a creative talent in Ruben Neves. My point is that Utd are grasping for an identity and the players seem confused as to how they fit in, but this will take a very long time to work out, with no instant results to be expected.

Bad form (partly because of Ole rushing him back from injury), being constantly exposed by the midfield and a GK who is allergic to participating in build-up play make him seem much worse than he actually is. Let's be sensible now he's no VVD but he is a good CB.

Mazraoui has been the most underrated player on that Ajax squad for a couple of years now and glad he’s finally getting some recognition.
