    also if you want to compare definition you absolutely need to give figures a base coat
    most of these high def resins do not actually capture better detail
    they just have a more matt and opaque pigment that makes it appear more detailed
    check the aussie once in a six sided dice or so on yt he compared many resins

    That's how I painted my Cthulhu, with a purple undercoat and slapchop greens over. Makes it look so mystic and sinister! Nice job!

    adding the extra little highlights adds so much to the models and making them look great for very little extra time

    hi, loving the vids, keep em coming. Can i make a suggestion re: ur crosshatching - if u cant do real thin lines, try using a 50/50% mix of the flesh colour and the crosshatch colour - lines are just as thick, but not so bright and eyecatching... still i liked ur results m8, well done

    I love your work! Vibrant colors that stand out on the board and look FUN to play with! And you're doing simple, clean, easy to follow miniature painting techniques!

    The purple primer was and yellow drybrush really nice touch. The problem with slapchop is you get translucent colours over black in the recesses and that always turns out looking ugly and unnatural. An underpaint with a dark blue or purple or magenta with yellowish highlights helps you achieve chromatic contrast and keep your contrast-style paints nice and vibrant.

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah its definently something worth trying out with different primers and drybrushing with different colours, thats what I love about this hobby, there is always something new to try out 😊

      I completely agree here, especially when dealing with skin tone. The purple, yellow, and pink play so naturally together.

    The more flexible resin is also great for all sorts of other stuff, LARP (though not the actual hitting parts), mounting stuff on bikes etc.

    You should try zenithal priming. Spray black then spray grey from 45 degrees down then spray white from the top down. Add a dark wash all over then speed paint as usual

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  Před 2 měsíci

      Ive tried zenithal before but not with the wash afterwards, I might try that, cheers 😊

    I print a lot of 3d miniatures and my favorite resin is SirayaTech Fast Grey. It has some flexibility and has good strength. I've dropped a few figures and haven't had any breaks yet. In terms of price it is mid-range $30 - $40 per kg but if I'm going to take the time and effort to paint them I don't want them breaking if you look at them dross-eyed.

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah its all about getting a good balance of detail/flexibility and price, especially if the miniatures are going to be man handled lol 😊

    They make line brushes specifically for doing cross hatching. Your local art store should have them. I'd recommend buying one in-person because line brushes are easily ruined if they aren't stored properly (like when they get sent to you by mail). You'll want to see the brush before you buy it to make sure it's not frayed anywhere.

    Ohhh I did not know about the Phrozen RPG resin. I used to use the Phrozen 8k resin, loved it, but stopped using it as my miniatures were way too brittle to be used for table top gaming. Certainly gonna give the RPG resin a try.
    Edited: for some reason Phrozen's EU online shop do not ship to my country 😞

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  Před 2 měsíci

      I think its a fairly new resin, Im not 100% sure on that but I love how easy the supports just fall off and now all those small swords and guns wont break off lol 😊

  • @lugzgaming5074
    @lugzgaming5074 Před 2 měsíci

    Nothing compares to Sunlu abs like. Using anything else is waste of money and time because other resins WILL break on you. Sunlu doesn't. You have to basically intentionally try to break a mini.
