I came up with your blog about 2 weeks ago. It is interesting that you share your story. I feel inspired. I plan to retire next year and I'm looking forward to moving out of California and live a more simple life. This Summer I plan to start selling most of my stuff in preparation for the move. Also, I am saving money to go visit my daughter who is currently living in Korea. Those are my two short term goals for the next year.

I love your message :) I identify with it because I voluntarily took a $20,000 pay cut in order to move into a job that I was more passionate about and felt called to. I did a lot of soul searching about what was truly important in life. Thanks for sharing :)

I took the plunge and quit a job that I hated. I am now a full time reseller. While I have to work harder than I did before, the amount of freedom and the fact that I do not have a boss above me is amazing. It has also taught me to put a lot of trust and faith in God. You're right, life is short. We need to prioritize what is important in our lives.

I love your videos and look forward to them always! I'm a "preacher's daughter" with stories that aren't so wonderful. Seeing people living a life that makes them happy is the best!
At the age of 78 I can tell you God presents us with many different challenges throughout our lives. When we meet the challenge and are in God's will we are at peace and full of joy. My hubby will be 88 and we know most likely heaven is not far away but knowing we are citizens and will be with Jesus we are at peace. Good for you two some of us taking longer to learn these lessons. I think being debt free is one of the biggest challenges.

So cool hearing your story! Yes, please keep sharing! :) I am a "non-traditional" missionary. When God leads me to move, I work, save up a little bit, and then pack up my car and go by faith with no job! I did this to move to Tulsa, OK in 2000. God blessed me with 4 and half years at an awesome small family business with raise after raise. Then I knew I was to go to Florida and God went to far as to tell me to work at Disney World! I didn't even want to work there but He opened the door! I was the secretary to the Compensation department for 6 years making more than the Tulsa job! The Lord then told me to quit my job at Disney and go back to Louisville. I obeyed and ended up working for a hospital president (where I'm now) and getting almost double the salary that I was making at Disney! I also started a dessert business last August. As long as we obey Him, He will be our provision. I feel you're supposed to write a book. Do it! He will give you the words. :) I also see you traveling the world as you promote your book and it will bless many. You will take many trips between your home and Asia. I see an airplane going back and forth many times between home and Asia. There will be open doors everywhere you go and as you walk through them, many will be healed and lead to Christ. :) Praise God! I can't wait to see your adventures on CZcams! People will open their kitchens to you and as you cook with them, your hearts will connect. :)

How funny, I’m also a 73 yr. old grandmother! I love to watch your videos and have learned lots from watching you cook. I'm in charge of cooking all dinners for 3 adults and 2 teenagers and every idea helps. My favorite videos were your road trip last summer. My husband and I have made a huge life change this year, something we have always wanted. Sold our home in Toronto to move to a farm in the country. Its been a lot of work, as we are renoing the whole place on our own. And we both left our jobs in the city not knowing what will happen next. We have 3 young kids, so a huge risk. But we have never been happier. And i know things will keep falling into place for us. I feel lucky to only be 31 and already feel like we have accomplished so much. Im all about living simply and enjoying our lives. Love your content, please keep doing what your doing!

I have been back a lot of times in Frisco and wished I could afford to live there again but Texas is my home now and will be my final rest place. I am really interest in your cooking. I love to cook. Please continue to tell your story, it fascinates me. I’m 68 & have no clue what my purpose is. I’ve spent my life chasing bills & rent, working jobs I hated in doing so & at 55 had to take Disability. I think someone else is using my purpose points!

Tonight is my first introduction to you and your channel and hearing how your lives have taken this road less traveled reminds me of how changes take courage. Some changes are by choice but some changes are due to circumstances beyond your control. Our busy lives working full time changed in the blink of an eye due to medical crises in our family. We have chosen to be joyful about living more simply and having time to smell the roses. You are right, life flies by so fast. Enjoying the sunshine and laughter and love is priceless. I'm subscribing to your channel because I can use a reminder sometimes to be grateful and to make wise choices and not to worry. We have our soulmate spouses which is something that many never find. How lucky can we get ?

I have only commented a few times, but felt an immediate connection to you both after searching for my first Instant Pot recipe years ago. It wasn't just the recipe but the more the honesty and true heart you show that have kept me a subscriber. I am getting ready to retire "early" in a couple weeks, and although I am still a bit scared, it's people like you and others that reassured me to follow my dreams and just GO. I worked very hard in the Aerospace industry for 17 years and now 19+ years for a well-known Silicon Valley company, but know it's time to move on. Thanks for your inspiration. I know that I can make it work with less, and hope to be happier doing the things that call to me. My "Bucket List" is pages long and every item makes me smile. Good for you! (and good for me). Can't wait to read more about your journey.
Congratulations on your retirement! We have only shared a bit of our story here but have faced many other unplanned changes in life. Compared to many of our friends, I would dare say more than our share! But now, even when it's scary, we find that we crave it. Wishing you all good things to come!
Have learned so much from you and your channel, not only about cooking but life and faith. I remember watching your InstantPot cheesecake video late one night. I knew I had to make it ASAP. It is one of our family’s favorite desserts. My husband was and is still floored on this delicious little cheesecake. My little toddler girl loves it. And it is such a funny treat to see her really dig into THE BEST CHEESECAKE EVER!

When I was a kid my parents gave me the option of playing in the park across the street with other kids (1960s, no parental supervision) or going to church on Sunday. I decided to play in the park. We were taught to treat people the way we wanted to be treated. Long story short I'm not religious but get along with most people.

That is nice that you both have decided to live your lives the normal way and in the process putting God first. I decided to live a normal life and not look at wealth, but instead put God first in my life. I was led to the job I had for almost 26 years with the state of Arkansas where I was able to retire from after a career in the Air Force for 24 years. I didn't get rich, but feel like I am rich because of what I have been blessed with. My belief in God is strong, and I do my best to live Godly each day and knowing that I am Blessed and will be ready when called home to Heaven. I love your videos so much and hope you all are having a Blessed week.

Flo, Dude, thank you for a tidbit into your lives and journey... I went on to reading your blog post right after watching the video. As I was halfway through the post, tears began flowing... I'm a pet rescue mom to 10 dogs, 3 kitties, a military spouse, I gave up my career that I truly enjoyed as I worked hard for it as well as my nursing education. It just became nearly impossible with all the military moves about every 2-3 years to maintain my nursing license, though I was a bit scared as I had been a Nurse for 15 years, I knew in my heart that things would work out, that God would guide me and had another plan for me at this point in my life.
So a few years ago I became a blogger, a pet blogger... Since I am cruelty-free in my Beauty, Personal Care and Cleaning it isn't that popular with the sponsored opps so not a lot of money generated from it all and with not much support from friends, family or even spouse (I'm not talking monetarily wise) I'm just simply talking about liking or sharing a post, so it is at times it is tough and frustrating, as I've done so much for most of them, am always supportive in their ventures, even monetarily, I even like their FB pages for their ventures and with several of them their have been many!
Though I really enjoy what I do, there are times I'm frustrated and doubt myself, thank you for reminding me to always have faith and to turn my worries over to God.

always inspiring. every time I feel down about renting right now and not buying a home in one of the most expensive cities in the world...I think about how joyful the lums are and that God always provides what we need. =)
God is faithful and always provides! Believe me, Dorcas... there are moments when I feel down about renting also but I absolutely refuse to give in to this insane market. I can't even imagine how much our lives would change if we had a mortgage right now.

I just found your channel by accident and it is great the Costco Vlog take our money. It is so true, We go to Costco and Sam's. I like walking the aisles myself, and it is so easy to walk out with more then you went there for. I just love your motto at the end.
