- Hi Hi! If you didn't know, I'm in a rut. I thought taking time from CZcams would get me out of it but it hasn't. So it's time to do the very minimum of goal setting... vision boarding. Creating the perfect vision board can help give you clarity on what you want and what you have the ability to focus on for a certain amount of time. Let's see if this will help me figure out a productive rest of the year before we head into 2023 😫

Aja, I have been following you since the video you made a few years back about your debt. And I think how you are feeling is similar to what exchange students say when they are back to the calm of their country. Like while you were paying down your debt and saving for your emergency fund you had this very tangible goal that you were eating at month after month, then you moved, then yoiu launched a business, then you got engaged, then you had to plan your wedding. you had those clearly set goals with checkpoints. Now you don't have a big goal or 1000 things going on. But you've done so much and it's ok to just live and not always have a massive goal. Maybe take a writing class, an art class something fun.
that's true! I think my problem is that if I'm not on the go, then I'm lazy. So having goals to achieve keep me from being in a rut..which is what I'm in now.
I understand this. I followed you Aja since the pandemic and I also reached massive goals. Now I'm just in much more calm state and I'm giving myself grace for it. Thank you for vision board idea to create new goals. But first I want that my achievements settle a bit and then I run again 🏃♀️❤️
Vision boards help declutter the brain. They help focus one's attention on what truly matters to a person. Thanks for reminding me of this.

I far prefer vision boarding, I like to ask myself "How do I want to *feel* this coming year?" and images can usually capture that better than text. I also save the board as my phone lock screen so I see it throughout the year and it really helps. I'm looking at my board now and it is mostly complete!

For someone who loves organisation and planning but has been just in limbo and trying to not feel inadequate for it. It makes me feel less alone and less alienated watching this video. It also helps me feel like enough still. thank you so much.
This year I’ve had to learn how to be gentle with myself.
I’ve had to overhaul how I approach work/habits by practising mediocre consistency. Now I try to put in consistent 50-60% effort into my habits that give me stability (ex. journaling/working out) - to make sure I do it I began recording it and posting it on my channel.
I have no clue what my bigger goals are. I’m just hoping building a solid routine and taking care of myself will give me a solid foundation and nurture the creative side of me I’ve repressed for so long. Loved the video

Genuinely, I think this was the most helpful video I've seen in a long time. I rarely know what my goals are, and I've never vision boarded before. Now I'm feeling inspired to try.

Aja, I loved, loved this video. It was helpful in reminding me that I can let my intuition and feelings choose the pictures I pic for my vision board. Sometimes, I'm too logical in how I pick my pictures. I loved seeing the result of your vision board. Thank you for sharing!
Great video. I'm in a similar boat. In a rut and a bit lost... I've always avoided doing a vision board (I don't know why) until I did one for the firm I work for (because they really needed it or at least give them a push to figure out their vision). ANYWAY, I need to make time for myself (working mom of 2) and this was very helpful so THANKS!

I use canva for my vision board and keep it on my phone. Things always change. It's life.

i love the idea of have a romcom loosely based on yours and brian's beginning love story. i do think there can be more representation when it comes to casting couples more diversely. I'd love to see asian couples and other multi-cultural couples than what has been represented in media thus far

I wanted to share (ps. I'm 32) and I've always been driven, goal oriented, had so much in me. Thought it was unbound but lately I'm finding its the same. I've reeally been resonating with your context since coming back. Not sure what I'm getting at but yeah. Thank you. I'm honestly not hyper focusing on the why I am here but more what do I need to move forward. I think there might be too many factors that got me here to truly find a root.

A few thoughts: you used to do videos back in the day that were parody/music videos. maybe you can take your romantic comedy idea and collaborate with Brian to do a musical version of it. You also had some great diy furniture hacks back in the day that you can bring back with your workspace. I feel like with this vision board, your ideas relate to things you've done in the past, so maybe it's more about continuing to experiment with things you did before your debt free journey. Also - it's not a bad idea to just have a year where you focused on learning new things or skills. That's what I'm focusing on next year to get out of a career rut and I think it's going to help open up new opportunities. Good luck and thank you for this video!

Great video. My sister takes the lead on vision boarding. We do a potluck brunch with mimosas with the women in our family. We do a roundtable. It's emotional and cleansing. I will share this approach with my group. Thanks

i dont believe in race base casting for movies unless the actual story hinges upon that. if race/ethnicity isnt key for the role or story, then you should simply cast the best actor for the role, regardless of their color
I mean it sounds like race or ethnicity would be key to the love story she's talking about. Nothing wrong with acknowledging race as a real part of our identities and stories.
But how would you define "best" actor. If all you've seen are Caucasian actors, a minority actor would seem "wrong" and never the "best".

The 'best' actor would be whoever the casting director deems to have bested the audition. The point is, you take the most talented for the role. period. race shouldnt matter. u need someone who can deliver emotion and portray the role with depth and in a convincing way.
@@rjf7023 You're casting an idealistic view and assuming that people are placed by meritocracy. What Sandra was alluding to is that if the best actors had been cast then we wouldn't have had and continue have white leads as the leads in the majority of movies in a country that multi racial and multicultural.
Being intentional about casting non-white actors is not divergent from casting the best actor.
@@cutiepiemania45 I think this is some-what true. There are horrible casting decisions where you see the lead role given to a white male who isnt right for the role or is just a bad actor in general. This is wrong as well. Again, the best person for the job should get it! regardless of race. And this goes both ways... when its a visible minority who gets snubbed, that's wrong as well, however i dont want to see a role given to a visible minority just because they're a minority when they're not the best choice.
