- Just a short mock-up of the closing scene from the final episode of The Bill but replacing the new orchestral remix with the 1988 theme music. I could have spent more time on this and probably would have worked better if I'd doubled up the middle-eighths at the start but the idea is here anyway.

Apparently my dad worked near the Sun Hill set and went past it every day. Then I'd be watching it on TV! Plus now my sister is a Met police officer, something I am so proud of her for!
This is how the show should of ended. That would of been a nice touch to remind people of the old days

This brought tears to my eyes. We can argue about how effective and how "socially challenged" (by society's ills) the real police was during the show's run, but the statistics show that crime is well down, so the police did a good job for the most part. Do faster and safer cars mean driving has got worse? Yes. Has the war on drugs totally failed? Yes. Do people feel safer? No. But politicians, managers and technocrats can't or won't look at the individual's experience of the law, just at the aggregate.
The timing is just spot-on with this even if I do blow my own trumpet... Gov.

I think the series should've ended with Tony Stamp having his leaving/retirement party, with some of his old friends like Reg and June attending. Imagine having a bunch of past and present characters heading off together at the end, accompanied by this classic theme music - it would've been such a great finale. I'm glad Meadows got the final appearance though, since he was the longest serving character at this stage.

This is really good, but I personally preferred what they did do, mixing the old and new together. I think it was a good nod to the past, while showing that life does go on, as the final episode was supposed to do.
That said, this is a better tune, and I like how you've done it.
They should have used this theme with the last ever show

still find it funny ITV axed this classic due to falling ratings yet 14 years after the final episode it's being watched by many. Also 3 "reality" shows they kept on one of which is still airing never got more viewers than the bill did at it's lowest
Can you do a mock with the 1999 theme? That's the one that has emphasis on the saxophone.

Aww why didn't they actually do this? It should've been obvious considering changing the format of the show, and scrapping the classic music is what got them took off the air in the first place.

IMO, they should have mixed in the various themes that they had over the 30 or so years of the programme into the final closing credits.
Like they did with the final episode of Neighbours.
This is the 2nd version of Overkill the first one has more drum beats and no screechy music.
This program should never got the axe! Can’t see why they did it? It was one of best programmes that Thames tv made
