    I have been following you for a year now and I want to tell you how much I look forward to your videos. Besides being very enlightening, they are concise, clear and delivered very well. As a retired English professor I recognize when I see something good. You do a great service to we seniors who did not grow up with this technology.

    At seventy-two, I recently got my first smartphone which was a used SE 2020 Iphone with a small form factor, touch ID, and a home button. After three months, I have yet to hook it to a cell carrier as I didn't purchase the phone to take or make calls but to use the apps which are necessary to set up a lot of devices in the home. Everyone who is important in my life can easily get a hold of me because of health issues I rarely leave my home as I no longer drive. Curiously what drove me to get an Iphone was that I purchased an Apple TV 4k streaming device which is far superior to the Amazon and Roku streaming devices that I had owned previously. Navigating an Apple TV 4k is much like navigating an Iphone with obviously a bigger screen. I watch all You Tube videos on my big screen via the Apple device. I also use it for podcasts and have up hooked up a pair of bluetooth headphones and can listen to a podcast anywhere in my home. The point of my post is that you might consider doing a video on the Apple TV 4k because its menu is similar to an Iphone's but is easier to see. Kinda like a starter device for Iphones. I watch all your videos. You speak deliberately like any good instructor should. Too many You Tubers talk too fast.

      I made a video (sort of) on the Apple TV a few years ago. I've got the Apple TV 4K too and I use it every day. I probably should make a new video on this topic. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!

      I like the Apple TV better for playing a podcast than the Iphone. I use bluetooth headphones and the coverage is incredible. The Apple TV is in the front of my house and yet I can play the podcast over the earphones in the rear of my house when I am on my treadmill. One other neat feature is the screensaver will come on and play as long as you are playing a podcast. I don't think the podcast app for the Apple TV is as sophisticated as the Iphone and not as many custom setting are available.

  • @judysbakeryandtestkitchen1654

    Every time you do a video, I think “that is too easy!“ And you prove me wrong apparently on my new phone I didn’t have Wi-Fi enabled for phone calls.
    I don’t send unknown calls directly to Spam. I’ve had instances where Dr. offices will call from a different phone than I know of and it will go directly to voicemail. And I play phone tag with them. It’s frustrating.
    The phone log has been really helpful improving to me that my doctors office hadn’t returned three phone calls. They can say that I wasn’t careful, making a phone log, but you can’t lie when it comes to the phone records.

    Thanks Rich. I recommended your channel to our over 70s summer club we run at our church (I was doing troubleshooting sessions for those with iPads and iPhones). Just a couple of points - the Dynamic Island is not limited to pro models now with the 15 series iPhones and a few features such as Live Voicemail is not available everywhere at the moment eg not for us in the UK.

      Great point! Not only did I misspeak, but I have the iPhone 15 Plus - which has the Dynamic Island! Thanks so much for the recommendation. I hope it helps a few folks out.

    I almost didn’t watch this video because I “thought” I would know everything you might present. BUT, as always, you shared some “inside” tips that I had not enabled. Thanks again, Rich, for always putting the ‘techy’ parts of our iPhones and iPads into easy to understand language and easy to follow directions! ❤ Btw, I have watched this video twice and I want my husband to watch it because he is always saying his phone is ‘dumb’ when I think it is probably user error. 😂

      Hi Alicia! Thanks again for the kind words. Glad the video was helpful. The topic is a little basic, but there are a few things worth learning. I'm hoping it helped some folks. Especially the short troubleshooting section.

    in this video you mentioned call waiting. I can't find it in my phone settings. Is it because I have Verizon? I have an iPhone 12 mini running the latest update. Maybe it's not available on this phone?

    I would like to see a tutorial on two-factor identification: how to use it and examples of doing that. I’ve searched the internet and this is available, however most videos use Apple’s buzzwords and assume you know what they mean or talk too fast! I need to change my Google password and believe my account there has been hacked. I would like to set up 2FA for some of websites that are important, but am a bit scared off because in setting my important accounts if I don’t do it right, accessing them again could be very difficult since they are very security conscious and put you through the wringer correcting situations. I thought of you as your videos are easy to understand, geared for seniors, plus I hoped to find 2FA here. Can you reply back to this somehow? Thanks so very much.

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  Před 4 měsíci +4

      Yes! This is a great video idea. I've not made a video on 2-factor authentication before. And it can be a little intimidating. I've put it on the list. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
