10 years adgo today I lost my airborne soldier a proud member of the 173d Airborne (The Herd) I stumbled across this tonight and remember him singing this song many times.
Families at home sacrifice too. I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for doing your part supporting your airborne soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our freedom.
Born 1960, grew up in Vietnam era; I believe this is the first song I memorized, my Uncle J served 2 tours in Vietnam, came back safe but PTSD. I planned a military career, Rt knee kept me out. I love all the military, respect and admire them. We are free. I love Vietnam Vets. Thank you all military Vets from every branch. God Bless America!
THIS SONG GETS ME EVERY TIME ! I LEARNED THIS SONG IN THE LATE 60’S WHEN I WAS IN THE 6TH GRADE . MY TEACHER WAS THE CHOIR TEACHER AND SHE TAUGHT US THIS SONG TO SING AT THE ASSEMBLY FOR THE PARENTS . THATS WHEN SCHOOLS WERE TEACHING CHILDREN GOOD THINGS ! SO TO THIS DAY WHENEVER I HEAR THIS SONG ITGETS ME EVERY TIME . WITH MUCH RESPECT 😔
I once served with the army during the Vietnam conflict. During this struggle for our freedom today I hope that you guys the Green berets will stand up for the American people and fight for our Liberty. Because America need the Green berets may God bless you all America is proud of our best. 🙏
I know what life does to these men and their families! I was married at 16 to a boy who went to Vietnam, came home a man, and so changed! War does that to those people forced to go fight! God Bless all our soldiers!
I was a Hospital Corpsman in 67 -69. The Green Beret Airborne Medics trained in Ft Sam Houston where I was stationed. I'm pretty sure some of the men I hung out with on base didn't come back and they were all good guy. Some were probably not as old as I was (and I was only 19 when I went in the Army). Too young to see the type of combat they were sent to the middle of. I saw men almost fresh from the battlefield (a day or so after) that I was sure wouldn't make it but they did and they all wanted to go back again. I prayed every single night and day and still think of those who didn't come home at all - the POWs, etc etc.

My brother Michael was a Green Beret. In 1983, Michael was tragically killed in Morocco while serving our country to train and assist the Moroccan military to eradicate middle eastern terrorist groups. According to some sources, these middle eastern groups are linked to the terrorists responsible for the 911 attack. Currently, I advocate against transgenderism - for men who say they are women, who are going into women's restrooms, locker rooms, and even rape crisis centers - not to mention stealing their sports trophies and scholarships. I advocate to save the innocent girls, who are being brainwashed into thinking they are boys, and take puberty blockers and testosterone and even have a bilateral mastectomy as young as 14-years-old. If my brother were alive today, he would be standing and speaking out with me. But, he's not here because he died for our freedom, including our first amendment right to free speech. Please consider speaking out with me - against the idea that a man can be a woman, a girl can be a boy. Yes Sir that is true I lost my dad in Vietnam and later many friends in warzone and never will forget what they have done and still do for us all they deserve much more respect from everyone God bless America and his heroes
This song brings me to tears everytime I hear it. Many THANKS TO ALL WHOM SERVED THIS GREAT NATION! VERY PROUD OF EACH OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
This song always makes me cry, but I still love it. This is what I heard when my husband went to Vietnam, he came back safe, but still suffers. Now our son is in the riverines, navy, our daughter is Air Force. We are so proud of all our soldiers, but I would like to say thank you to all the wife's, fathers mothers and dads, who wait at home and pray they don't get that knock on the door. Or listen to some smart ass, setting at Starbucks, who has no idea about honor or sacrifice, they just believe because they showed up they should get a trophy. God bless you! I proud of our soldiers and their families, we love you all.
I remember in 1970 or early 71, the Principal came to one of my classes and took out one of my classmates, her mother had just had a couple of visitors, an Army Chaplin and a another soldier. Her Dad was killed a few days short of his return.
The sacrifice is also that of the family supporting our military women and men. I thank you for your service supporting your loved ones who give us all our freedom. We all owe your husband, daughter and son a very special gratitude.
Lot of memories here. I was in Charlie Company, 5th Group '71-'74. We had to sing this every day in our first phase training. I still remember all the words.
So i never could serve in any branch of service due to spinal injuries sustained in a car accident when i was only 13. However, I am a lifelong military nerd, and this is one of those go-to songs that get stuck in my head from time to time. I love immersing myself in the special operations culture!
My Uncle was a Green Beret. Saw the Green Beret Movie today. For the first time in a number of years. Just had to look up the song and give it a listen. And pay Homage to all that have made it possible for us to live free.

I knew one man who was a green beret. He grew up friends with my older brother and did things to me that scared me to death, like hang me over the local bridge holding me by only my belt. Some other things to tell but won't bother. As a young kid, I thought he hated me and I thought he was crazy. Then he left for the military and I didn't see him again until he came back from Vietnam after serving two tours. The change in him was incredible and he treated me like I was his long lost best friend. Some years went by and he died on a graveled road rollover 3 miles from where he grew up. Since that happened, I have become friends with his sister and her stories about him could fill a book. RIP Jerry, I think of you often.
God bless those who serve our Country! They deserve to be recognized! I'm the daughter of a soldier who served in WW2 in The Battle of the Bulge. And also the wife of a Soldier. He didn't go to Viet Nam, but some of his buddies did. And some didn't come home.
Even though this song pertains to a specific group of soldiers, the story it tells can be appreciated by all soldiers, whether Army, Navy or Air Force. Each one of them does their duty admirably to give us plain folk the freedom we so easily take for granted. To all the men and women who put their lives at risk, past and present, I give you a hearty thank you.
what, no Marines? Just kidding! I was a merchant marine sailor, we had officers but we could salute them 1 finger at a time, plus we got paid way better then military folks.

I was in the Army Reserves and in 1971 I served the two weeks of training at Ft. Devens, MA. Ft. Devens was the first stop for the Green Berets returning from Viet Nam. In the mess hall one day a group of Berets entered and all at my table (reserves) stood up and saluted them (the were not officers but we did not care). They were so young and I confess I was in awe of them. That night we were at a local bar and several of them were also there. I approached them and showed my respect and told them I actually felt guilty being in the reserves while they were on the front lines. Their response was "you are in the service and if and when you are called you will do what we do and there's nothing to feel guilty about. Now drag your chairs over and let's drink as comrades in arms." You can add class and style to tough as nails. They earned and deserve the ultimate respect.
I was in 3 Corp, Vietnam, I flew hurts with the 162 Assault Helicopter Company. We supported the Green Berets looking for a NVA Brigade around Phuoc Vinh and Thanksgiving Day, 1967. A team consisting of 2 Americans and 4 Mercinaries was outside the perimeter setting up listening posts. Contact was made and the Company CO went out on the rescue chopper and had to climb down a rope ladder to rescue the troops, he was shot off the ladder and died. He was an excellent Commander. I still think about him. He was from Texas, San Antonio.. and too many brave ones die young.

Hello how are you doing today..?
And now “the so call teachers” indoctrinate our children to spit on and disparage United States of America . 🇺🇸 And our Founding Fathers.

Thanks for including a photo of the Spanish Green Berets.
Men who mean just what they say. Amen.
Hey how are you doing…?

(I speak out monthly in St Augustine, Florida and will be in NYC May 13 - day before Mother's Day.)
I need men (and women) to stand with me. This is NOT a feminist issue. This is a HUMAN issue - and we sane people who know the difference between a man and woman need to speak up and stop all this nonsense. Thank you!
Love you pals. We will transport you anywhere. USAF here. All of us will get you there. We are all, a force as one America. We have your back. It takes all of us. Never forget that. We are all. The most professional. In the world. There is no doubt. The most dangerous aoldiers, on the planet.
I served and lost friends in Vietnam. These songs bring back memories. Tears at times. Thanks for having these songs where people can remember those who gave their lives that we may live
Thank you for your service.
My husband and I lost a good friend who was a green beret he was proud to serve his country and we were proud and honored to be his friends

My grandfather built bombs for the Air Force during Nam. He had some friends who later died because of exposure to Agent Orange.
Yes Sir that is true I lost my dad in Vietnam and later many friends in warzone and never will forget what they have done and still do for us all they deserve much more respect from everyone

Hey how are you doing?😊
Bless you, your husband and your children. My grandson is graduating from Naval Boot Camp next week. I am so proud of him
Norma Trimble good talk
I remember in 1970 or early 71, the Principal came to one of my classes and took out one of my classmates, her mother had just had a couple of visitors, an Army Chaplin and a another soldier. Her Dad was killed a few days short of his return.
The sacrifice is also that of the family supporting our military women and men. I thank you for your service supporting your loved ones who give us all our freedom. We all owe your husband, daughter and son a very special gratitude.

No, there will only be another conflict and another. Beyond belief really. Everyday I cherish my age (64) because so many do not reach here.
@@earlkielley6480 I'm presently watching on Netflix: The Water Diviner. It's obviously Australian but about Gallipoli - also very sad.
My partner passed but when I hear this song it's like he's singing along. He served in the forces and was so proud. 😘

Heavenly Father, Thank you for these men. Thank you Green Beret for your sacrifice and service. Bless each of you Warriors.
