This was the generation where you actually had to have something special to be a star not like today. Most people don't realize the depth of this guy's talent. Unfortunately there is little video of Bobby's live shows published in the public domain but he was one of the most dynamic performers to ever hit the stage. Keep in mind that also, by this time he was already dealing with some serious heart issues and actually had to use an oxygen tank backstage in any performance. I can't recall who made the statement after he passed but it couldn't have been summed up any better "Bobby lived life like a taxi was waiting outside and the meter was running!"
Look what this guy did with those 37 years, much more than a bunch of us can accomplish in twice that time. Incredible, knew he had to hurry so he did the very best of it.

What a monster talent, one of the best all around musicians who ever lived, pretty much the white Stevie wonder. I love when people try and tell me Justin bieber and kid rock play their own instruments at concerts, what a joke.. Bobby Darin was not only one of the greatest voices, but he was a dynamo on all the instruments he played. Not like these bozos nowadays who strum an unplugged acoustic at their shows and all these idiots call them multi instrumentalist.

I have a copy of a David Frost show where he plays drums etc and sings "Carpenter "purchased for $20 from Danny's Records on the net from New York. His playing is mesmerizing actually this is that particular show as heard D.Frost in the background. He was here in Sydney a couple of years ago & I got to ask over talkback radio what BD was like and he said a wonderful man and great talent.
