- The behemoth struck again! Fans were treated to an unforgettable experience when Chad Smith returned to @DrumtekDrums in Melbourne's north for a meet and greet, autograph signing, and drum solo performance. Just over 100 lucky fans packed into the intimate venue to witness Chad solidify his reputation as a drumming legend. The night was truly enjoyed by all, and special thanks goes to Frank and the crew at Drumtek for expertly organising this one-of-a-kind event, and to Chad for taking time out of his major stadium tour to give fans an up-close-and-personal experience. It was an amazing night that will never be forgotten.

True story. I saw chad one day before a concert. I got an autograph. He ask me where there was good to eat. I said “ go here, I’m headed there now … “ he jumped in the car and I had lunch with one of my boy hood idols.

@@tomislavtodorovic4024 2010. I have so many great Chad Smith stories. I have met him maybe 4 times. Had a cigarette w him. I don’t even smoke but he asked me if I wanted one.
Of course this is my best story. I had drinks with ric flair once also. Told him about the chili pepper story and he told me “ I used to party with those guys. I wear the biggest sock of them all … wooo “

When you are that famous everybody wants a piece of you. The great thing about Chad is he gives back by doing stuff like this. So great for these drummers to be next to him while he is playing. The look on the kids faces was priceless. Chad is a great ambassador for the drumming community and good human.😎

I used to work at a recording studio in LA and remember setting up microphones like inches next to him blasting out beats for warm up. That was a crazy day :) Chad Smith is one of coolest musicians I met during those two years. Funny af, yet a total pro at work. Fun times.

@TubeSteve420 I'm all for people getting a momento of the occasion, but filming the whole performance is wank, and if I'm stood in the crowd watching, I don't want to watch the band through someone else's phone.

Chad was my idol at 12 years old when I started drumming, I’m 45 now, he still is my drumming idol. 🐐

Aside from how amazing Chad Smith is, what is mind-boggling to me is that there is an actual bassist that exists and that can keep up with his funky crazy rhythms.

I go back a long long way with Chad. He was a drummer in Detroit with a band called Toby red. I was the drummer in another Detroit band called mugsy. We later changed our name to WEAPONS. Chad may remember. Back in the day Detroit had a pretty hot music scene. We did a couple albums as WEAPONS, and we played the Marquee Club in London England. Chad, and the band The Romantics are really the only ones out of Detroit that ended up with Fame from that era. Chad has grown so much in his drumming ability! Congratulations, Chad! You deserve your Fame and Fortune and your place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Sincerely, Fred Schmidt.

He was super kind and humble when speaking with them. Also, I very much appreciate the fact he wasn’t even trying to show off, he was just trying to play and put effort into that for them. He didn’t just phone it in, he went hard. Mad respect for that.
