- I took the NIU KQi Air around town to run some errands and will tell you why I think this is one of the best commuter scooters out there and it's more than it's very light carbon fiber frame

Every commuter wants that, not needs that!
Carbon fiber and magnesium is quite brittle and around the neck area, any form of bumps, nudging (which is inevitable if locked on bike racks) or even vibrations will weaken it over time and before one knows it, it will collapse!
Not to mention, single, 350w motor with no suspension whatsoever gives it not just a rougher ride but also inferior power and acceleration compared to cheaper and more powerful but still lightweight, 40-pound scooters like the Apollo Air 2023 and Segway F2 Pro.
Anyone able-bodied should be able to comfortably lift 40 pounds for a short distance and up a flight of stairs!
Being 15 pounds lighter does make a difference but only for better convenience, sacrificing every other attribute including the most important which is reliability!
Thus, I'd prefer something traditional yet more compact for commuters such as the Apollo Go which has a much smaller profile than the Niu KQI Air, twice the power, dual suspension and much tougher build quality with IP66 rating at just $100 more!
You're right, should have said something like things that are nice to have on a commuter and things I wish it had. Thanks for the comment
Riding the newest apollo city myself, I can also say that apollo at least listens to the riders, which is great, because then we actually get what we want in a scooter. So basically i agree with you :) But it's nice that they focus on lightweight too, my GF for example can't lift 40 pounds comfortably, so this would be amazing for her, IF it was cheaper and had a drum brake instead of disc :p
Why the wheels on the packing have the very nice silver fan blade painting, but the real wheels no?
Just ordered mine. Cant wait to get it. Question though, what quadlock mount is that? I was looking at getting one but want to make sure i get the right size.
Nice! I'm not sure, just your standard bike one
I like this scooter for the reasons you mentioned.
Bought it for my wife.
*For myself, I’d like to see these do at least 22 mph like the NIU Max. Hopefully a software update, but not holding my breath on that !
Are you kidding they got these things going 60 miles an hour there's so many different companies out there making these and I'm sure most of them are coming from China
@@kirkslayden834 “these” meaning the KQi Air.
Nice, yeah I think every commuter should at least hit 25
I am indecisive in this one and Niu new series kqi300x. What would you suggest?
Haven't tried the new series so can't say but this one was pretty good, has everything you need
Well one thing about these at least they're going faster than you can walk or run
True that :)
🔥🔥🔥
Can u review punk rider pro
I've got one in my shed, I'll have it out soon
Riding in deep 4" puddle will eventually ruin the motor in time. The motor is not waterproof, will rust from the inside.
I believe that's so too and I just got a aerial Rider grizzly dual motor and dual battery and it states something about not being in the rain 🌧️
I wouldn't do it on a consistent basis, just showing that if you do go throw one, you'd be ok
Use plenty of super glue where that tape is coming up
That'll fix it
Will do! Thanks
This really is a super nice budget scooter as long as you're not paying more than $399 because above that price range every other spec will beat it there's no thousand dollars scooters doing 18 mph
ye but it's so LIGHT
Don’t buy niu scooters my friends and I have them for school and 3/4 of them have broken electronics
Right! Going for Apollo instead! Build quality and reliability is No. 1!
@@chaxologist2961 In other words: "Your safety and the scooters durability" matters the most, totally agree.
1000 no suspension less than 20 mph there is no bargain here.
It is a beautiful but just to slow
Agreed
Just 2 problems with this scooter. 1: It's got a disc brake.. My experience with riding scooters every day for a few years now, tell me that disc brakes brake REALLY quickly,, and in my country no one wanna repair them. So.. you're left with trash. (I tried to repair my old scooter, but it only lasted for 1-2 weeks before the disc brake broke AGAIN.. So go with drum brakes for your own safety's sake..) 2: 1000 usd for no suspension? It's amazing how lightweight it is, but it's too expensive.. Go to like 600 usd and I would say, it's worth it, but I would always be scared of ANY scooter not having drum brakes.
Interesting, most would prefer disc brakes, surprised you're having a hard time
No suspension = No thanks
Yeah, I wish they would have added some but it's actually not to bad, they tires are pretty good
We just released our KQi 300 series - which has suspension alongside long range and high speeds. Check it out on our page!
