    Lights are 12v so glad to know the switch can work if I’ve got 120v going to it
    After looking at the Pentair diagram it makes sense

    Question regarding the neutral line. My pool guy has already tried to install 2 different controllers, both with the same issue. The neutral line has power coming from the controller and trips the GFI. Is there supposed to be power coming from the neutral line? Thanks for any advise you might have

    • @ePoolSupply
      @ePoolSupply  Před rokem

      Sounds like you may have a wiring issue. I would just verify both power and neutral are coming after the GFI. Also, neutral is supposed to carry the current back to the power source which means it may be already connected to something trying to close a circuit. Hope this helps!

  • @RascalCatify
    @RascalCatify Před 2 lety +3

    Hopefully this gets seen. So I just got mine today and took off the light switch cover and there is just a black wire, blue wire, and ground (green). My setup is that there is a secondary panel by all the equipment and breakers. One breaker is for the lights that goes to a 12V transformer. In the box I see a white and black going to the transformer and then a blue wire with a wire nut that goes to the transformer and then I assume back to the light switch, along with a black wire. I assume then that I would I put the black in hot (line) and then the blue in load correct, and then leave neutral empty.

      I installed the hot at the line & neutral at neutral.

      @@jumanabenlateef2352 So apparently the controller requires all three connections. I tried putting the blue in the load position and it didn't even power on. It will power on and "work" when the blue wire is in neutral but the lights do not come on. After speaking with an actual pool guy, not just Pentair, a neutral white wire needs to be ran and connected up to the neutrals for the transformer for it to work. If you are lucky and your electrical equipment and the switch are close its easy, unlike me where I have to run about 50 feet of wire!

    from pentair installation manual:
    Using the ground screw in the outlet box, secure the Green ground wire
    from the light, and the GFCI to the back of the outlet box.
    Connect the White (Neutral) wire from the Color Sync Controller to the
    White wire from the light cord, and the White (Neutral) wire from the GFCI,
    using an appropriately sized wire nut.
    These connections must have been done elsewhere

    Can you connect multiple lights on the one controller ?
    Also what do we do with the neutral wire from the lights ? Do we just bond those together and only run the hot to the ColorSync ?

    • @ePoolSupply
      @ePoolSupply  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi there, you can add multiple lights to one controller as it can handle up to 300 watts. You can achieve this by pig tailing the wires together. Now, we do not suggest doing that as it is not very safe so the best way to do it is to wire all lights into a transformer and run one wire from the transformer to the controller. This will allow you to turn them all on at once. Hope this helps!
