Obviously not cleaned in 20 or 30 years. Black soil around the lid means trouble. The proto-tek won't work if the lines are jammed. Never tried the crust buster but looks like it works well. Gotta tell owners to pump every 2 years and don't flush wipes, rubbers (unlikely at their age), cigarette butts, dental floss or tampons (also unlikely). Just crap and single ply paper work the best. Retired with 25 years pumping tanks in Connecticut. I've seen it all. Nice job guys!

Took my washing machine, shower and laundry sink off the septic and run the grey water elsewhere after a 5 year old system was failing. Installer never put a filter on the outlet side of the tank so I added that too. Nothing like hanging upside down with your drill strapped to your wrist in a septic tank.

I have a house built in the 50's and I wish they had used a concrete tank, for some reason around here they all seemed to use steel tanks instead. Discovered during the first pumping that the previous home owner had made his own lid out of pressure treated boards and the edge of the tank was partially caved in, leaving the boards sitting at a 15 degree angle. I'm currently scheduled to have the same company that pumped it out replace the tank. Oddly enough, everything still seems to flow well so I'm just hoping now that the leach/drain field is still functional and the previous home owner didn't do something stupid like pipe it into the storm drain instead.

I bought my house 8 years ago. The septic system reportedly originally served the houses on either side of me. I live alone so I don't strain the system much, but wonder where exactly my tank is at. I have a general idea because of a vent in the line from the neighbors house on one side. My ground is rock hard so metal rods would not work. Love the idea of a flushable transmitter!

They didn't really even have indoor plumbing untill the early 1900s though,so......I'm not sure if a few people actually had it in 1850 or if there was actually indoor plumbing but it must be a really big an elaborate old home then.

To avoid skid marks, take toilet paper and make a cross in the bowl before you take a dump and it also prevents backsplash. Old travel trailer owner here.

I like how people are disgusted by the marks in the toilet but have nothing to say about the sludge you pull out of the tank 😂
On another note I just can't believe these people went this long without pumping the tank lol. Edit: Ah now I see why, informative!

    VERY IMPORTANT
This system ONLY works if the line to the tank is not stopped up AND your field lines are working properly
