    I'm 100% behind Alyssa's point. Probably because I too am a child of divorce and single-mother parenting. Every person must have their own money. Of course, a general fund would be shared to cover household expenses, but every person must have direct control over their own separate pot of money. (Consider the top reasons for couple conflict: Cash, children, and...) I also think every person should have an identity independent of the home/family. Pretty much every man I know easily separates/prioritizes their own needs from the care of the home/family. So, this idea of an additional identity beyond home/family is not brand new. Men have been looking out for their own interests independent of their families this whole time. Even those with children must adjust to when the children leave the nest. In any case, great conversation, panel!

    I'm with Sara but I retired early (for health issues) and my husband still works. We are empty-nesters. My days aren't spent doing nothing. I keep the house clean, I go grocery shopping, I work on projects around the house, I take care of our dogs, and I work on hobbies. I also volunteer occasionally. I grew up a feminist but I feel like we've gone too far in the other direction where we are as judgmental about women working outside the home as we are about men not working. If one spouse wants to stay home and it's agreed upon, then who cares? Also, there are ways to make sure that when you set up this arrangement that the spouse staying home is future-protected, monetarily. Our house is in both of our names, for instance. Consult with a financial planner.

    Alyssa had a better point, not only have/make your own money but if women don't want to work and don't want kids...you better be very fit, curvy and look like a 25yr old supermodel bc if you don't, what else are you going to bring to the table!???
    Every woman believes men owe them so much for their companionship alone even if they are average looking at best, overweight, older, flat butt, flat chest, no money, etc.
    Why would a man want to take care of that when he could rather take care of a 25yr old in her physical prime!!!
    If I have to pay for every woman, I much rather take a different 25yr old on FREE dinners, lunches and dates than a 50yr old.

    I love having a kind, generous husband who provides for us so that I am free to fill our day-to-day lives with warmth, joy, peace and romance. Our house is so happy, exciting and active. I am not stressed by work. I am completely available to be the heart of my home and community. How freeing it has been to thoroughly enjoy the wonderful privilege of being a stay-at-home wife. It is delicious.

    Men would 100% be judged harshly if more of us chose to be "house husbands". How many women would look down on those guys, calling them lazy bums? It's a complete double standard, good to see Sara acknowledge that.

    • @MilkyWayGalaxyy
      @MilkyWayGalaxyy Před 10 měsíci +1

      Exactly 💯 Such a double standard. Women think their only responsibility is to get ready and act sweet and innocent. And then it's the man's job to provide, protect, chase and treat them like a princess for no deserving reason. Just bc, I was born female and shaved my body hair. Men owe me for this!!

    The best decision I have ever made in my life was divorcing in my 40's. I did the stay at home thing, he did the stay at home thing as well. Deciding not to date after divorcing, supporting myself fully including taking myself out to dinner, exotic vacations again has been the best decision I have ever made . Not every female requires a "husband" and not everyone was meant to be "coupled" with someone.

    I grew up in a traditional household where Mom stayed at home and Dad went to work. Married 55 years. The thing that was different was my Mom was better off than my Dad and had her own income/money. He didn't want her to work, he wanted her to choose him and our family over a career. And she did. But she always taught me, always have your own money. She also favored having a career and no man. She would tell me, do you. She never got upset that I never married or had children. She was like, choose what is best for you. I believe single women and trophy wives without children should find a way to be of service. Just sitting around gets monotonous.

    I can't have kids. I would prefer to be home getting things done for thr house and working on my creative projects. But until those creative projects make 200k a year, i cant afford to not work.
    I want to travel the world, eat out, go do things. Its a little hard to do that on one persons salary of 80k. We make 100k together and its enough without kids to do whatever we want (fix up the house, movies, dinner, date night, save for retirement)...i also like a little social interaction.
    My life would be perfect if i could work part time. But things are too expensive right now. I think people need to be responsible for themselves. Its good to work together, but life is unpredictable.
