After upgrading from the Pixel 6 to the Fold 5, i could not be more happy. No going back to a regular phone after this

Did you consider the pixel fold? I've got a pixel 6 pro that I love but I don't know if I want the fold 5 or pixel fold
I tried both and ended up going for the S23 Ultra. For day to day situations S23 is much better. i couldn't find a use for the inner screen in my daily routine 😊

went from s23U to fold5. back to s23U. the fold5 is INCREDIBLE. loved it immensely. however, I primarily got the fold because I thought it would be great for watching movies and shows in bed and playing some games. my unpopular opinion is that NONE of this actually is optimized for the fold's inner screen. its almost a square in dimensions. no modern show/ movie is made for square. it's more of a 16:9 world. this killed the inner screen experience for me. the actual screen size of viewable media on the fold is damn near the same to the s23U. I can get the s23U for almost $800 cheaper. done deal.
Going thru this right now. I just don't use the inner screen daily enough to want to keep it.. for the price I think the s23 is a better selection. Once the fold gets to the magic honor pro (chinese phone) it'll be worth to get it. For now imma swap back too.

THIS is the thing I am missing in every youtuber's review. I currently have fold 4 and living in the same dilemma. Bought it for multimedia consumption but later found it to be worse than slab phones, because of mismatched aspect ratios. It is shocking to see that none of the youtubers are mentioning this.
Traded my fold 4 for s24 ultra, but still thinking if I should give fold 4 another chance. 😢

I got my fold 5 with 1100 trade in for a s20 + 5g, they offered 700 for the flip 5, so it was a no brainer for me, 700 for the fold or 300 for the flip, i still have 14 days to decide between the 2 but the fold is so nice with multitasking, and the smaller front display hasnt been an issue for me
what apps do u use on the fold 5? How are u getting 8 hrs of screen on time I am barely getting 4-5 hrs with social media, whatsapp and emails

I have both in 1TB versions. I have both those cases as well. Spigen is my go to case but got the s pen case from Samsung for $70 during pre order.
I couldn't decide, so I got them both.
The only thing that holds me back from switching to Fold 5 from S23U is the smaller battery capacity with a larger screen + battery degrading over time... It's a recipe for disaster. And by disaster, I mean ending up charging the Fold5 at least 2 times a day.

I had to charge my s22 u atleast once a day with 5000 battery with heavy use so i already allways have power bank or charger with me so there is no difference with the fold model. 4400 battery is still plenty to last a whole work day with medium use

Great summary as there are many factors at work here.
The phone itself is the least of my considerations, as I hardly ever actually make or receive calls. Camera, messaging, data access and mapping are more important to me. For these reasons, the Sony Experia IV is edging into the lead here, as the cameras and dual SIM are features I value but Sony doesn't seem to offer any trade-in deals!

I had the fold 4, traded for s23 ultra. Mistake made, just traded that in for the fold 5. I honestly love the folding phone and having so much you can do with it. Yes the ultra has a better camera but I prefer the big screen.

Omg, you realized how much you paid to Samsung for $1799 phone ? 1st mistake, going back to S23 cost you at least $700.
To get S23 ultra, you paid ~$200
$900 so far.
To get fold 5, assuming you got $1000, you still paid ~$600-700
$1500-1600 so far.
Calculate value of phone you gave for fold 4
Calculate value of Fold 4 you gave
Calculate value of S23 ultra
So, you have basically spent ~$4000 for tech fashion. Hope you like the $4000 + phone

@wowitscrazyinthere5745 actually, the Ultra is as big as the fold 5 screens. While also the Fold 5 still can break. The only difference is multitasking. The fold can hold three while the Ultra holds 2, battery life the Ultra is better

I am getting 8 and half hours of SOT on my fold 5, still 20% battery remaining. I guess it depends on the type of daily use cases. If you play more games and do heavy stuff, even s23 ultra will drain faster. I have S23U as well. But using fold just changes everything.
For me s23 ultra i have it a great smartphone and great camera🙂
I’m looking for an opinion in a direction to go I have a special use case I am a 2 phone user my main phone is an iPhone currently with two numbers on it I’m looking to take the 2nd number and run it on an android. I’m debating between three z fold 5 pixel fold or s23 ultra. I want to experience android to see if my opinion has changed. But the phone line I will be putting on. It is not used much at all. So I think I won’t fell I’m missing out on anything if I skip on the 23 ultra. Therefore I thinking the fold will be more fun to play with and consume content and at the same time expose me to android. I’m leaning towards the Z fold five but it appears that all the social media people I follow, have chosen the pixel fold over it since I’m going to be mostly using it as a secondary device I think the narrow screen won’t bother me as much if it was my main device I believe I could not do it I see the outside screen is being used most on my primary phone and the inside screen being more of a content consumption. Any suggestions on a direction will be appreciated I know it’s tough but I’m looking for a go this way I think you’ll be happier lol

I've had them both, well the fold 4 which I couldn't wait to get rid of and the S23 Ultra which I sold 6 weeks ago when I pre ordered my Xperia 1V.
Now I know what it's like to have a phone that's a true flagship and just not the specs of a flagship. I've never had a Samsung that didn't have some kind of problems , no more. This Sony is as good as you can get!

Neither for me. rocking s22 ultra and z fold 4. Tried fold 5 & not satisfied, not a significant improvement. S23 ultra looks just like the 22. So, maybe if Z fold 6 has built in stylus, and other significant features (maybe 1 Tb for 256gb storage ? )

The s23 is currently available on Samsung web site for 1049.99 and 450.00 trade in amount for a pixel 7pro. Other trade in up to 750.00 depending on phone. Like my 7pro so think I'll wait for the s24 and hope they have similar deals. Don't see a fold in my future as I just don't need and don't like the price.
Totally fair, they’re getting *decent* now but they’re very much still for early adopters. The battery will surely get better, durability’s a little better every year, price’ll continue to come down a little at a time - but right now, if you’re looking at starting prices with no deals attached, $600 extra to throw an iPad Mini into your pocket is only a so-so deal, to say nothing of the tradeoff that the cover display has.
Let me help out with this as well! I have both but I am sending my fold 5 back. The ultra is less than an inch smaller that the fold 5 and the new pen is terrible. It seems like the pen doesn't work as well either with the fold from last year. The reason I returned the fold is the battery, pen, and camera! If I could post these pics on here to show you it make you laugh how bad they are! The fold is awesome in many other ways and it wasn't an easy choice but once you realize you're not losing much screen wise and two apps with the pen on the ultra is phenomenal you won't need a $800 upgrade. Lastly remember there is a titanium s24 ultra right around the corner! You don't want to lose that upgrade money on a trade in that we will all be doing in a few months lol
You must have gotten a monday make of the fold. My fold 5 looks better than the s23 ultra. And also the ultra screen is so anoying with the curved screen. And also its way to thin. The blocky hand feel of the fold 5 when folded is amazing new phones have gotten way to thin. Allways slipping out of pockets when sitting down amd awkward to hold up to your ear.
I was about ready to jump to the Fold 5 but the battery life + price killed it for me. Looking forward to the S24 instead.

I love the fold design and as an Idea of the modern phone. But cover screen in FOLD5 is a JOKE. What about Mi mix fold 3 (8 inch inner screen and normal cover screen, amazing camera?) What about Honor v2 fold? What about upcoming Oneplus Open? I mean all the Chinese phones ARE MUCH better HARDWARE WISE and MUCH cheaper then the FOLD5. But the biggest concern that you didnt mention with the fold phones are low quality of the inner screen. They are breaking all the time, have big crease, and so on.. especially with the Samsung phones. All my friends have problems with inner screen protectors peeling off. So they go to the store and wait for samsung to replace all screen with the protector. Waiting like for 2 weeks. OMG! So its easy decision to go with best phone of the year. better build quality, better camera, better thermals, better battery, faster charging speed... and much less money.... Go with S23 U
Carrying both right now (23U and ZF5) and, quite frankly, leaning towards the 23U for various reasons.. That outer screen on the go is ehh..(but I suppose that's intentional by Samsung), the lack of dust resistance, having to kinda baby the device, not much in the way of mounting it in my vehicle, pocketability (suit) isn't the best especially if you carry two devices (my primary is the iPhone 13 Pro Max at least until Android can figure out an Apple watch ultra equivalent..no, the galaxy watch 6 ain't even close.. ) etc are favoring the 23U for me.. As a media device, the Fold is amazing and absolutely love the taskbar! I really wanna like the Fold 5...just struggling to justify it over the 23 ultra ..

Definitely agree with the watch comment; I have the 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch Ultra, S23 Ultra and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Samsung wearables are nice but if you’re use to Apple wearables you realize how much Samsung wearables lack in apps and functionality.
I carry the iPhone 13 Pro Max too, but actually chose the Z fold 5 as I thought the s23 Ultra was redundant given I already carry a large slab phone. It's nice to pull out a mini tablet when necessary.

$2249.00 for the 512 gig s23 ultra in Australia. $2799.00 for the fold 5 in 512 gig. i missed out on pre order sale to dear $72. a month just to pay phone of then a plan on top. new deal is better for me i get 200 less for the trade in but 300 off the phone. so repayments are cheaper.

@@TechOdyssey I try to read, listen, and look up big article for college assignments, but my 5g 200 nord isn't big enough or takes a while to load documents. Also, if I don't have my laptop or tablet on hand. I try to use my phone to do homework at work.

Choose S23 over Fold 5 because of the camera, tech specs and more durable.
Last is the price I can buy a brandnew S23 and a mid range samsung tablet and its still cheaper than a brandnew Fold 5. I usually just read ebooks when im at home. Plus youtube videos does not display fully on a Fold 5's inner display. Maybe I'll buy a foldable someday but not Fold 5.
S23 Ultra = Best Camera, Best battery
FOLD 5 = Best tablet like experience. Best (largest) screen. The screen is best suited for the old 4:3 ratio TV content. If you blow up the 16:9 content, you will lose parts of the content on the right and left. Still, I have found the larger screen more enjoyable for web browsing and other applications. Google maps is exceptional on the larger format screen. Long story short, tough call, although due to the larger screen, i would give the edge to the Fold 5.

I went from the S22 Ultra to the Z Fold 5, and I'm extremely happy with my decision. The Fold 5 is an amazing piece of technology, and IMO the best phone currently on the market.

Going to stop u at the s23 ultra does not heat up the thing gets to hot that after 3 minutes of game play u losse about 30% of the phones power and has been proven over and over on 3d bench mark testing that even the s20 is a better phone
