Here is my ballet ick
When thereâs one girl that thinks sheâs the best at ballet and starts correcting other girls and then those girls start picking up bad habits from that one girlđ€Šđ»ââïž

Mine is when your on stage and they donât play the music loud enough so the audience can hear everything đ„Č

Dang at mine they freaking blast the music ppl have to cover there ears in the nutcracker for the sugar plum
Yes I hate when that happens that happened at my dress rehearsal the other day I couldnât even here the music
Btw, theatres are usually designed to not have a lot of noise on stage to reduce mic feedback. So basically even if it sounds quiet on stage, it could be really loud in the audience. If you canât hear the music on stage for a performance tho, tell the stage manager! They should be able to sort it out with the sound engineer

My ballet ick is favoritism there's always that one girl that sucks but is still the lead because she's the favorite and yet she'll be the first to mess up the dance and not ever get yelled at for it đ
I literally have the same issue. The captain of our high school dance team literally has never had any dance experience and her feet are ALWAYS sickled and her legs are never straight and m coach NEVER corrects her
Omg yes it makes me so mad!!! And sheâs always stuck up too not even grateful. Also very quick to point out other peopleâs flaws.
This is one reason I really like my ballet school there is no favouritism, and like even if there is they donât show it, the main roles for shows are always rotated to suit certain dancers

Mine is when people clearly don't practice and just expect the rest of us to know everything for them and then because of them, we all get lectured about not knowing our work
Iâm in ballet and this my teacher we are supposed to have a recital next year and we have only been taught it twice months ago and she keeps asking us to do our dance so their are only two girls that know the first 3 seconds of the dance đ

Mine is - The super loud girl is talking so much and then others around her stop talking and she is like â Oh guys every be quiet the teacher wants our attentionâ when she was the one talking.
1) Getting screamed at by another dancer *during* a performance before we were even backstage because I slightly fumbled a move that the *whole group* royally screwed up despite extra practice that she did not participate in while the rest of the class watched in horror/shock đ
2) being injured and having other dancers give you looks/sending bad vibes because you have a legitimate reason for not doing things correctly/ marking rather than practicing to avoid further injury

When youâre about to start a combination and someone comes and stands right next to you and bc you donât want to hit them you have to move even though you were standing there first
My ballet ick: someone finishing their repertoire or combination then walking up to me and breathing in my face. I know itâs normal but I donât want to smell your breath, go breathe somewhere else first. Whatever they usually have to say ainât important usuallyâŠ

my two friends feet smell ambosutrly rancid, like everyoneâs feet smell i get that but omg their bag smells rancid, their shoes, socks, toe pads, everything. (donât think im being mean pls i love themđ)
also (i go to an arts school and i dance there) thereâs girls in my class who literally donât care at all and we just had an exam dance and like two of them forgot the dance and just ran off the floor like babes this is for a grade then made fun of the people who were actually trying
also people making fun of others for falling or not doing something good honestly making fun of people in general in dance bc like not everything will look perfect like its literally practice and stuff so stfu please
and omg i see people commenting on dancers toes who 99% of them arenât dancers like yeah when youâre using pinte shoes a lot, your feet wonât look pretty, especially on this channel i see people commenting about it like you clearly have never danced or know anything about pointe.
The toe thing drives me crazy too! I try help non-dancers understand by reinforcing the idea that even though ballet isnât a sport, dancers are still athletes.
And since itâs generally accepted by the public that athletes from any area of sport will experience injury, pain and changes to their body⊠Why would ballet be different?
Itâs not like the top comments on American football videos are discussing the sheer amount of concussions players rack up - or how the sport is directly linked to brain damage đ€·

My ballet ick from a ballet student at a new studio: when dancers use their level to determine their age and feel like they can boss you around. At my old studio there is a girl who I'm older than by 2 months and she moved from a studio with lower standards so she was en pointe when she moved even though it wasn't regulated as safe at the new studio but they can take her off of pointe so they just let it slide however I wasn't on pointe because I had started there and I was there for a long time so I followed their guidelines and she thought that she could boss me around just because she was in pointe shoes meaning that she had to be in the higher levels with older girls so she thought that she was older than me even though I am 2 months older than her and it made me so mad every single time.
The second girl was so cute đ
"no spatial awareness" ah yes, said the dancer, and the phycologist that traumatized me with his exam.
My ick is that one girl who tries to teach the class, like girl, YOURE NOT THE TEACHER

1) When there is always that one girl that stalls WAY too much so we donât have time to do certain things
2) That other girl that complains about a new painful & unbearable injury EVERY SINGLE DAY. So she canât dance and then blames other people for her doing absolutely awful at performance

My ballet ick is:
When your watching the person Infront if you at barre cause you can't see the teacher and they mess it up and then you mess it up so then your both embarrassed
When that one girls mom âhas moneyâ and tells her sheâs the best so the student thinks sheâs the best and never practices but comes to class and acts like sheâs better than everyone and expects to get all of the lead roles and stuff when there are so many dancers that deserved the role so much more

At my studio we have this like half-a-wall bar and thereâs 5 people in my class and literally one person was so close to me (I was on the very end) and I didnât even have enough space to do a simple front batma (Iâm so sorry I have no idea how to spell basically a front kick) and I was so mad because there was a huge gap on the other side
Basically the reason being is we got a new student and one girl didnât wanna be near her so the new person was at the end and the girl who didnât want to be near her then the girl who was too close to me then me and keep in mind itâs a small bar if that girl would just scoot up there might have been enough room (my studio really needs more bar space)
My ballet ick is when some girl is like the teachers pet and gets put as the lead đą

Iâve got 2 that are more specific to people..
so one of them is this girl wears injury braces and wraps when sheâs not injured or like if she has a bruise she over exaggerates it so she canât dance. Also sheâs like.. she gets away with wearing pants for warmup and I couldnât even wear my booty shorts đ€·ââïž
Another ick specific to a different person. So there was this new seasonal teacher who helps out with like recitals and summer camps.. so she like snapped at me for being in the wrong place and everybody when on and on about how nice she was? Idk it bugged me sm. Like I was all âwhere is the people Iâm going on stage with?â And sheâs all âtheyâre right there, you didnât see them because YOU are in the wrong place.â With a tone. Bugged me because Iâve been at that studio on that stage over 12 years longer than her. I stayed back because if I had left I wouldâve missed seeing my little sister dancing on stage. But ok.
mine is when your doing a combination and the person in front of you doesnât care about others and is right in front of you so you can see urself in the mirror

Oh my gosh my ballet ick is when the teacher or director is giving you the combinations and instead of doing it with them you wait till they are done and ask "do I go on this count" or "is it like this". Like they literally just showed you how it goes and what the counts are.

I need subtitles for all the ballet icks videos. I can't hear half of what they said... I love the least favourite ballet move video though (especially since I can hear them all).
Mine is when you have a dance that your super excited about and invite all your friends and family to go to that specific show to see that specific dance and the people doing sound don't know what they are doing and your song is muffled the whole time making it so you can't count the music and it doesn't get fixed not even in the recital video so your dance that you worked your butt off is ruined because the timing is slightly off and you have to hear the atrocious music in the background đ„Č
