Here in HK I see so many BYDs on the roads, sometimes as many as Teslas. The Atto and Seal are especially popular. One new model coming up is the Sea Lion 07 which is expected to be launched in October. That is the same month the Seal was launched in HK in October 2023. Competing with the Sea Lion 07 is the Xpeng G6 which will be available for test drive in HK in August

I might be missing something - corect me if I am wong. The proposal is a 25% saving in battery weight. The Seal battery is around 600kg so a 150kg saving. That is an overall weight saving of about 7%. No way that will provide a 15% range improvement particularly on the highway where it really matters.

I thought Sam said "A 25% increase in battery density". I heard speculation of it being either lighter or having longer range.
I wish they had given the Australian version 11kw AC instead of the 7kw. When you have a long commute like I do, 7kw charging at home is a pain in the rear!
BYD's latest model can travel more than 2,400 kilometers on a full tank of gas and a full charge.

@@monkeysezbegood Considering the speed at which charging stations are being built in Europe and the United States, it's clear that hybrid cars have a long lifespan.
I had a test drive in the BYD Dolphin at the Everything Electric show last week and liked it and unless anything better comes along I will buy one. However, after watching your video about the V2 Blade battery several months ago, I have decided to wait a bit in case the Dolphin is upgraded to use the new battery. Another factor for waiting is the high insurance group of 33 and I recently discovered that my car insurance company will not insure Dolphins. Hopefully the Dolphin will soon have a lower group as BYD develops a larger dealer network and builds a reputation for supplying parts and repairing cars. Another factor is what will happen if the EU puts additional tariffs on Chinese cars, living in Brexit Britain we should be independent of those tariffs but it is possible that a future government would align our tariffs with those of the EU.
Good on them and better for the consumer!
Other reports have suggested that incorporation of Blade 2 tech in the Seal 07 will mean a smaller lighter battery with the same capacity as the current Seal. And also, slightly less powerful motors to match it to the config of the Sealion 07. That’s a shame, I would rather they kept the size and weight of the battery and increased its capacity for greater range. It would potentially have given the Seal Premium (LR, Single Motor) a range of 700km+.
Subscribed. Like this video. BYD is really awesome. Even I don't like BYD's interior design, the performance of BYD is amazing. I have a few friends driving BYD and they are all 100% happy.
Improvement to the UI and software is worth the wait alone. Longer range and other refinements will be the cherry on top. Looking forward to the v2 Seal.

@vasil7410 while some updates should filter over to the current version, other features might be chipset/hardware specific. Either way, it would be great if BYD continues to improve all versions with OTA updates. It'll greatly enhance pride in ownership and build customer loyalty in newer markets like Europe.

Having a higher energy density battery to means it will still be 82kwh but possibly lighter than the current battery and cheaper to manufacture.
Recommended this channel to my friends. Very good content, support competition,that's how Tesla keeps dropping price. Tesla has dropped $50k in last few years because of competitionfrom Chinese EVs. Imagine how expensive EVs could be if there was no competition.

I heard BYD after sales support is very bad. I have test driven all BYD models in Australia currently, but I’m holding back due to new model 07 but mainly the unsure about the support.
It needs a single improvement: -50% price adjustment in the EU.

I just noticed this channel, I am Australian but have lived in China for 19 years now.
Can't help but notice the ignorant 'China Hate' in a number of these videos, so would mention that I have been involved in the EV scene here, actually owned a dealership for a short time, got my first Chinese EV in 2014, have had 4 of them, JAC iEV6, BYD E5, own 2 at the moment, Geely Emgrand EV and Skywell ET5, as well as a 2016 Tesla S.

There is no noticeable battery degradation at the moment either.

But I also wanted to note to Electric Viking that unlike you reported, China's economy is just fine, in fact it is past an expected 4% GDP growth, it's running at just over and unexpected 5%.
Do not believe what the western media tells you about China, I am on the ground here involved in law and engineering, and I know darn well when the economy is up and when it is down, and it has been very confidently growing since the end of Covid. EV sales are just increasing all the time, and note that I pay 0.04 cents per KW, public chargers are either side of 010 cents per KW, one of the reasons EV sales are so strong here.

Software improvements for the new Seal should be rolled out to the existing version. BYD are slow in fixing all the software issues in the Atto 3. Even just the badly needed font and colour improvements.
Tesla are miles ahead in software and support for older vehicles.
Wish there is a DM-i 5.0 version of the Sealion 07 model.
Presales are where the money’s at, and Revux is the best opportunity right now.
seal 07 is a SUV based on a newer platform. 1000v architecture
If you’re into presales, Revux is a must-have. Early birds get the biggest worms!
The new 2025 Seal will likely have 3.0 EVO platform with faster 80-100% charging speed, 800V system, higher max rpm motor, and Gen 2 blade battery.

BYD cars are great (I own one) but so are many affordable European ones. The insular structure of the US market always amazes me - the first time I worked in the US in the late 90s I was shocked.

Its so embarrasing how BYD is running circles around Tesla considered how big of an edge they had just a few years ago.
Tesla has zero upgrades in battery technology, Model S platform is 12 years old and the Model 3 platform is 7 years old.
They are just riding on their brand image and pushing for sales on dated models. The model 3 highland is impressive though but the fact that Teslas 4680 battery is so obsolete and inferior to current and especially coming batteries concerns me
test drove a seal 6mths ago, at 80-100kph, it surged as if one was pushing pedal in and out ever so slightly, happened when salesperson drove and myself, queried it without any rebute of the fact, he had absolutely no answer as if it didn't happen, werid.
