How to use undecorated napkin layers on ephemera

- In this short video I share with you how I use napkin backs in my ephemera making, whilst taking the worry out of stamping.
Stamping can sometimes go wrong, the inked stamp may not leave a perfect imprint or it may leave unwanted marks from the edges of your stamp base, this method takes away a lot of those problems.

I’m gobsmacked! (sp) 🤣 I’ve never seen this! This solves a huge problem for me as a newbie to all this! I’m 57 and have just really started the junk journal process.. I deeply appreciate your style of teaching. You answer so many questions I’ve had! You’re a lovely person and I can’t get enough of your videos! Ty!
Blessings! 💜🇺🇸❤️📚❣️
Thank you Debbie, enjoy your new journey.
I’m sure everyone has napkin backs but I also have used plain white tissue paper that you can buy very cheap. I think I got 30 sheets of tissue paper that are larger than 4 pages of copy paper each and I think I paid $1. Just in case you don’t have clean napkin backs. Thanks for sharing Ceri!
Never thought of white tissue paper, thank you for that tip.
Love the use of the napkin back...less waste and very effective. x
Thanks so much! 😊
WOW...I just started tinkering with napkins and my die cutting machine. I kept the napkin backings and it's time to stamp! Thanks for these tips!
I love it Ceri! Ty for the inspiration
Hugs. Maggie ❤️🤗🇨🇦❤️
You’re welcome
I do this as well, but I don't have a variety of stamps, so it was inspiring and "enabling" for me to purchase more. Started watching your videos after watching Gayle A. I have watched her for a couple years and honestly, she is the one who got me started in journaling.
Gayle is the person who inspired me to be more public with my journey through Art.
What a clever idea! Love it! Now I'm going to go separate napkin layers and have a go at it!
Wondeful.
Ceri, I watch your videos all the time! You are always relevant!
Oh thank you Joan.
Thank you so much .
Have never been able to buy lovely decorated , printed napkins where I live , only white & have been wanting to use napkins in my projects .
I know what I shall be doing this weekend .
Fabulous, out of curiosity where do you live?
Fabulous idea and great tutorial! Thank you Ceri!
Thanks so much!
Hi Ceri. Great video and I think I'll go to Etsy and get these tags. They are lovely. Please don't scold Biscuit. (I don't think you really mean to anyway). He's being true to his nature. For all you know there are dangerous squirrels or birds planning an attack on your backyard, and he must protect you and your sister. Besides, anyone who would complain about a dog barking (or a heat gun blowing, or paper tearing, etc. ) should just reconsider what's important in life. Or so I think. Hugs to Biscuit. Diane in Texas
Diane, believe me Biscuit is loved, pampered and spoilt. He’s closer to me than my own skin and always forgiven.
@@CeriGriffiths I know he is, Ceri. I hope I didn't sound as though I thought you were in any way going to harm him! I think people who love dogs are good (well, really I think they're great) people. I think sometimes CZcams channels get mean comments on random noises: traffic, construction, children. I think maybe some viewers are just looking for something to be critical about. So Biscuit can do anything he wants! Take care, Ceri. PS: Glad you got your booster, too. I'm a 'safe rather than sorry' person.
So this means i can also tear into a pretty layer to do this technique! Thanks for the idea-i was having trouble using up the whole napkin every time.
You are so welcome
Very interesting process. I just bought a variety of stamps from an on-line yard sale and I am definitely going to be trying this. Thanks Ceri.
Wonderful Joan
Fabulous idea, going to give this a go tonight, thank you for sharing a great video!
You’re welcome
I like you can put an extra layer without adding thickness- nifty!
Awsome!
This technique is really helpful in my lack of supply. I don't have many transparency pictures/stickers and such. And I really love your background techniques and there you use See-through stickers and other colorfull and blackandwhite pictures.
But with this napkin stamping I can use my rather big supply of stamps. And by using diffrent ink colors it will give the background more interesting parts...
Ops long explanation sorry. I'm Swedish 🇸🇪 so English isn't my native language but I hope that you can understand what I mean anyway...
Anyhow I must thank you for all your interesting and inspiring ideas and videos!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Stay safe and horray for creativity 🎨🖼🧠
Rolah your English was great I understood everything, I’m so happy you find this useful and it means you can make things that are uniquely yours, have fun.
TFS! Great ideas!
Another fabulous tutorial
Thanks so much 😊 Maureen
Tyfs this. I have heard of this but not tried it. You're my guinea pig 😊 ❤
Have fun
Great video as always Ceri. Did some stamping on tissue paper recently as the start of my ephemera for mixed media. Your use of napkin backs is a great idea and one I’ll try as I always save the backs
Wonderful
Clever use of the white layer of napkin! TFS! 😃
Thank you
Awesome idea Ceri. I had often ruined a tag or page with a messed up stamp.
I do that to this very day.
Thanks Ceri.
You’re welcome
I think you just answered my question . You can't be sure you'll get a perfect stamped image and if not then you've wasted a pretty tag. I should watch to the end before asking questions. Thanks Ceri. A great project
Thank you
Oh wow what an amazing idea love Love it 🥰
Thank you
New subscriber here. Thank you so much for sharing this technique! I see so many just throw away all the white backings to napkins and thought what a waste that was. So good to know there is a much better thing to do with them! I'm also new to junk journaling, and it's a must to save money where I can, and this helps! Thanks again. Love your channel, and your very good style of teaching.
Thank you and welcome to my channel.
Love this . Love your channel!
Thank you
Nice video. I love learning new things. Napkins are so fun to work with. Have a great day. Blessings❤️🌸🌺
Thank you! You too!
Great idea. Thank you
You’re welcome
Brilliant!
Thank you
Great tips I will enjoy doing it the possibilities we endless
Wonderful!
Great idea Ceri. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Thank you
You're welcome
Great tips and beautiful tags, thank you
You’re welcome
Great idea, Ceri. I'll have fun with this. Thanks! From Cheryl in AZ
Thank you
I need to remember the start at the center tip lol.
Also these over brusho or other water activated mediums to use glue stick first then medium over the top of the napkin or tissue
Thank you
Question? What is the advantage to decoupage a stamped image or directly stamping? Is it less likely to smear or just a personal choice?
I can replace a badly stamped napkin back, I can't always recover a badly stamped finished tag.
Cute tute. Thank you.
Glad you like it!
Cheri, I love that multi colored background. Do you have a tutorial for how you did that one…Brushos?
Joanie, sorry but I don’t, maybe for the future I’ll try to create a brushos video.
🌸Thanks very much for this GREAT video🌸.
Exactly what i was looking for since long time.
I would like to ask you about organising the napkins... 🤔
Do you have any video or tips!? 🤔
I started getting napkins for scrap and now i have a lot. In boxes. They need a lot of space. I am looking for an effective and practical way to have them in order.
🌸Many thanks 🌸
🤗
I’m the same I’m going to have to find a way to sort out my napkins as they’re beginning to get out of control, I have so many duplicates I think I’m going to have to put together some happily mail packages. I don’t have a video on organising them as I’ve not yet found a way of organising them myself yet however I’ve started taking the backings off them which reduces the bulk.
@@CeriGriffiths Hello Ceri, many thanks for your reply. At the moment i figured out this way to keep them in shape. Lets see how it works. I have no scraproom and space is vital for me.
I share with you in case it may be useful :
💡I clasified all the packets in themes. In my case :
flowers, leaves/plants,
animals,
food & wine (fruits, ice creams, candies, etc)
Seasons (+ Xmas, Easter)
Miscellaneus.
💡I took from each packet 4 napkins.
2 will go to the "working box"
2 will be in the "index box"
💡 The "warehouse" boxes with the packets and the index will be stored away somewhere.
💡I will have close and available only the working box.
Once i need more, i will check the index and go straight to the "warehouse box".
In this way i can control as well when i am using the last ones in case i want to keep them as a munster.
Best regards
and
Thanks for your dedication
to teach and inspire us.

Great Video, thanks for taking the time, A quick question :) how is the pretty inked tag made? You mentioned a product that I don't know and didn't quite hear the name of. Thanks :)
It’s a product called Brushos, I think that’s how it’s spelt they’re partials if pigment in a dust form, you sprinkle the coloured dust on dry and then spritz with water or sprinkle them into a wet piece of paper and the colours bleed out of the particles.
That was so simple but totally eye opening! Going to try that. Could white Acrylic paint be used instead of Gesso? Thanks Cerie. Thoroughly enjoyed 😉 being with you in yr cave.
You give me so many good ideas. So I am new and not very good at coming up with my own ideas and usually buy items so I can repeat what others do. Any suggestions to help me be creative
I would advise finding CZcams channels that inspire you and repeating their makes. My friend Gayle Agostinelli has a great channel with various makes for beginners. Pop over a check that out.
@@CeriGriffiths I sure will do that thanks again
Do you have a video showing the tag with brushy?
I don't think I videoed that as it was a very long time ago, I'll try and put that technique into a future video
We want to see Biscuit , !
Rachel, have you watched this video yet where I introduce him. czcams.com/video/wwseV9XbSXU/video.htmlsi=2oJmxJBR5-eNp15Z
😃
Thank you
I had to look at this one, tags are a nightmare for me. I'm coming to steal your ephemera and I'm taking Biscuit with me!
Lol….
Quit saying Biscuit is in trouble! He's doing his job. Don't want a dog barking during your filming don't have a dog.
LOL... Biscuits my little brother and I'd never do anything to upset or harm him so no worries there
