    I've learnt a lot making this first video and hope to not exceed 1hr in future filming sessions.

      Mary, I’ve always found it hard to accept that I’m an artist but I know deep down I am, but not in a conventional way in just one medium, I think of myself as more of a creator across many mediums, and I love that I can share that journey.

    loving this art journal page. Your issue with perfection really connects with me. I struggle so much with it. I have walked away from crafting so many times because I struggle with perfection. I have thrown away so many things and deleted so many videos because of it. I am trying to get my channel started again and you have inspired me. To know others struggle and are doing to well help push me to keep on going. Thank you so much.

      My anxiety fuels my perfectionism and tells me everything I create is not good enough.........when I finally understood that I found it a little easier to create, the more you do and share the more the positive comments will boost your confidence to trust your gut and ignore perfection...........it’s unattainable anyway.

    Ceri,
    Being a perfectionist really relates to me. Over the years because of lack of perfection I have self sabotaged so many projects. I grew up in a perfectionist household. I so understand the struggle and I admire your courage and strength to do all that you do so beautifully, honestly and creatively.
    Thank you.

      @CeriGriffiths  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you Jennifer, I think the roots of my perfectionism are based in my anxiety always telling me my work is not good enough, it’s a struggle but I’m getting better at striving for excellence and not perfection, I may one day achieve what I consider to be excellence and with the comments I’m receiving from my loyal followers I’m beginning to believe more and more that the path I’m on is the right one.

    Keri, what a gorgeous piece of art! I love the effect the water sprayed on the paint gives just like you. It’s truly magical how the paint breathes life and moves without borders. I haven’t ever done mixed media, but it’s time I started. I’m going to go back and see how you made your journal so I know how to make mine. Thanks for your vulnerability and allowing yourself to just go with the beautiful changes the paper takes from your original design whenever it happened. I have great anxiety, so I’d find that really hard, so I get you my friend. Be well! ✨

    • @CeriGriffiths
      @CeriGriffiths  Před rokem +1

      Thank you, my art journal is made from a recycled book and I’m finding that some of the pages are just not strong enough to handle wet techniques, I’d recommend getting yourself a mixed media pad of paper, they come in different sizes and values. If you wish to just create, card stock or thicker paper will work but I’d advise giving it a coating a gesso first just to give the paper a coating so that it doesn’t break down if you keep adding lots of liquids. You could also use recycled canvases or art pieces from the goodwill or charity shops, they’re inexpensive and you normally have a frame so that if you really like your creation its all set to frame when you’re done. But the most important thing is to just have fun creating, its not the destination but the journey that is important for me.

    • @livingauthenticallyonmyownterm
      @livingauthenticallyonmyownterm Před rokem

      @@CeriGriffiths , I’ll do that and get a mixed media pad of paper. It’s too bad that your book isn’t holding up well because every piece is a work of art and a memory of that moment in time. If the page does fall out, you will always have the piece though, but it would be wonderful if it stayed in place. What a great idea to get an old painting from a second hand store/goodwill/charity shop and using the canvas for a piece Ceri! It’s all ready for a new look because it’s already seasoned with the old paint. I’m always going to goodwill for a good deal, so I’ll check the canvas section out more carefully now. Peace ✌🏽

    Ceri, I’m enjoying your work. You are very, very good at collage and I’m learning new things as to how to improve my own collage. Thank you! Nancy from League City, Texas

    LOVE mixed media. My very first pieces were mixed media. Maremi (Marta) from Ireland was my very first inspirational video at the beginning of the pandemic.
    Thanks Ceri, I love how detail oriented you are.

    So enjoyed this. Really like the way you take us through your process and explain the why...even if it's a " just because I want to. " I was waiting for the black marks; looks great. The acrylic know are indeed fun to use, I especially like the transparent acrylic inks...I'm always running out of the raw number and turquoise.

    First time watching your art presentation. Absolutely loving it, you think a lot like me. I approved of every spot you added something. Never done it myself...oops no paint tho..well maybe the green.

    Hi Ceri! Recently found you (via Gayle A.) and went back to watch a few older videos. Love this journal spread and all your layers. That bit with the plastic wrap to smooth napkins was new to me so thanks for the tip. Be well 😀

    This was fascinating. I'm still processing the use of the inks. I know that I need to "loosen up" a bit and have less structured pages. I'm willing to give it a go!

      As I’ve said before it’s only paper, glue and time but the experience is the important lesson learnt, you may discover a new love. Good luck.

    I always love watching you put your pieces in place. Always wondering the final outcome. You just are so creative. You talk about never knowing when to stop, but it always seems you stop in the exact place to make it perfect. I always think how lovely, then you add something else which improves on its beauty. The green circles almost look like drops of dew. Thank you for always sharing.
