Here after the 95th Oscars. So happy that Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan have won! Well deserved 👏
Is Sun Wukong goddess In Disney+ Series American Born Chinese
Literally same here! Michelle and Ke winning the Oscars this year was so beautiful and amazing to see happen!
Honestly, not well deserved at all. Gleeson and Blanchett did an impeccable job in their perfomances and should have won, but… well.
And don’t get me wrong, Everything Everywhere All at Once was my favorite movie from 2022, I just personally think those awards weren’t for them.
@@thatguy1507 Honestly?😂
Brendan Fraser did win.
But I myself agree with the multiple awards giving institutions that gave them the awards. While Michelle’s and Ke’s performances are not like the others which are overtly big on emotions, their performance were more nuanced and really showed their range.
@@thatguy1507 did you actually watch the awards? Fraser won for Best Actor. Ke won best SUPPORTING actor lol
I actually read the book months before this comes out, and I love it. It’s probably the perfect coming of age story and I’m hoping this show keeps the spirit of the novel.
This was based on a book? I thought it was something new and original... Oh well looks interesting though.
Me too, I read the graphic novel too. Disney made some changes (as they usually do 🙄) but I hope this is great!
@@thefirstofthelastones8952 yep it came out in 06
Man, stop with the cap. I know yall don't read shit. Yall were curious after seeing the trailer, so yall search the wiki page for it.
@@reddisded94 I read this in 2015 and I gotta say in disappointed, it seems they stripped all the meaning out of her political messages and truncated the length so they could make standard kungfu action fare. The deeper meaning of Chinese identity and riské characatures def won’t show up in this crap
This has American Jake Long vibes written all over it but it’s not that story. The story is based off of a Chinese folklore book about the monkey king. I also love how the Chinese culture and characters are represented in this series. Can’t wait to see all the episodes on May 24th! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Monkey King is the main character in “Journey to the West”, one of the greatest fictional novel in Chinese history, it’s not folklore…😅
@@annieli3518 Strictly speaking Tang Sanzang is the main character and while Wukong was fictional he is based on a long tradition of spiritual monkeys in Chinese folklore and influenced by the Hindu God Hanuman.
@@426mak well their Gods are made fun of in their own country
@@ChefmusicianNervo-ht3jl Because even gods have a sense of homour.
@@ChefmusicianNervo-ht3jlbecause gods are powerful being that is looked up to but at the same time they have personality here, unlike the strict Christianity
Finally something original from disney with the cast from everything everywhere all at once. This is on my must watch list.
It’s not original it’s based off of a book
@@angelvu i think they're suggesting it's an original TV series and not something from Marvel or Star Wars... something "new"
@@angelvu at least they don't fck it up like their last few live action movies
@@jamieellis8745 still wouldn’t make sense 😂💀
@@angelvu they changed so much of the story that it might as well be original. Makes me wonder why they even wanted to adapt it in the first place.
I *loved* the graphic novel this is based on, and I love so many of the cast members and creatives involved. Can’t WAIT for this
Is Sun Wukong goddess In Disney+ Series American Born Chinese
same and same!
Let’s gooooo❤
Talking about graphic... Why do they always pick ugly asian "compared to white actor"
everybody dislike Chinese and China in the world.
Everything Everywhere all at Once. But between 2 worlds and as a series. ❤
With the feeling of chang chi
@@natalieboaz3436 Shang-Chi*
And for the younger ones ✨️
Unfortunately EEAAO has less VFX than the other movies, makes it looks cheap parody movie, if only they had enough budget it could be the cross point for so many movies where Michelle Yeoh is in it
Looks like forbidden Kingdom
This show is exceeding my expectations, the flashback episode was INSANE. Probably the best original Disney+ show.
Fun fact: The mom is another Malaysian actress Yeo Yann Yann. Finally people start noticing our talents.
Imagine if this series was actually connected to the movie...That would be so great to see how this version of Evelyn Wang lives her life in another reality knowing she us concious in all of them all at the same time.
If you watch it carefully, it’s just an adaptation to Journey to the West but modernized…
@@uniforever1 omg wait you’re right
@@uniforever1 but isnt journey to the west is a journey to find all the three scrolls???
This is a different story.
As a Chinese American myself I read the graphic novel in high school and it really connected with me. I’m really hoping the series captures the same feeling 😊
Oh yeah 😊😊🥰
Connected cuz u r chinese American 😅?
What is in it. Another nerdy awkward Asian guy
So you have that almighty wooden staff
Better than indians bro
My preteen and I just watched the first season and we really enjoyed it. The coming of age story, mythology, all of it was done very well. We can’t wait for Season 2!
So excited for this to come out! What a great cast too!!
Disney's Everything Everywhere All At Once, cant wait!
Lmao I think this is "everything everywhere all at once" but in another universe..
About time Disney+ gives us something else other them Marvel and starwars
YES!! I agree! Not a major existing franchise or a lazy reboot or a terrible live-action remake, so very refreshing to see
Yup, like Loki
disney plus has given us other series on their channel sadly they just dont advertise it well enough or people never liked it
like the show just beyond
Yes I agree
Well..they can't do those well, so who's to say if they will do the comic justice here?
American Born Chinese looks like a very unique show! ❤
Looks like there's gonna be a separate universe of EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE 😍
I will 100% be watching this. The fact Sun Wukong is apart has me super excited.
I tot u mean guan yi in american chinese tv show. joking
“…and he’s Chinese like you”
As an ABC who doesn’t speak a lick of Chinese…I felt that scene.
Edit: also my family is from Hong Kong and teachers (back in 80s) were puzzled why Chinese person from Hong Kong and another from Taiwan don’t speak the same language.
che che
So you’re not really Chinese
@@j6backup626 Wow, that's rude. Being Chinese is possible on multiple levels with respect to nationality, culture, heritage, etc.
@@maya-parisan yep and then there’s the adoptees
Same here, I get the same question of “why can’t you speak Chinese”
Because neither of my parents can and it’s a hard language and here American nobody cares 😤
I am a 42-year-old woman. I absolutely loved this show to the point where I am watching it over again.❤❤❤❤ I have watched so many of the monkey King movies, and just to see this side of the monkey King where he has a son it’s amazing❤
Just finished watching this series. Started last night and couldn't stop watching it was that good! I really hope Disney does another season!
I loved both EEAAO and the original graphic novel. This looks great!
Does this show have anything to do with "Wukong" lore or am I looking too much into the Growing Staff and Beared dude who kinda looks like a Wukong.
@@thewearyexile9000yes.
Lies again? Chinese Facilitators
@@thewearyexile9000 definitely was the monkey king sitting in that chair no? And was that his staff they were using?
@@idgafjuslisten it definatly didn't say monkey King and people take liberties all day. Have you seen any movies come out recently? Don't use me to cope away being a loser.
As someone who read the book, I hope this adaptation is good since I feel more people should read it.
When did the book come out ?
@@ryanmussell739 2006 it’s a graphic novel
@@gwenmloveskpopcecmore now I'm conflicted, I want to read it, but I also know that I appreciate the cinematic better when I don't already have expectations. I'll note to read it after I watch it.
@@pirimpallopirimpalli4932 yeah i plan to read to all the boys I’ve loved before books after I watched the movies (which I recommend my fave one out of the 3 was the 3rd one)
@@pirimpallopirimpalli4932 Read the book after the show. I think the book may be leagues better considering the changes shown in the trailer.
They turned a comic about the experience and struggles of growing up Chinese in America with some use of mythology and made it into an action style Marvel kids superhero. Wow. Just wow.
Literally nobody else talking about this 🤔 I’ll have to watch it and see how prevalent the action stuff is, but from the high reviews… I’m hoping they didn’t gloss over the emotional aspects.

While I may be a middle-aged Afro-Caribbean woman, I thoroughly enjoyed this series! The message, writing, and fight scenes were awesome and family friendly! I can't wait to introduce my nephews to the show. #Representation matters
Michelle Yeoh is everywhere all at once these days and I am living for it!
Looks interesting and I LOVE that they drop all the episodes at once. Wish they did this with all their shows.
i honestly prefer weekly episodes and i wish they were doing that with this series. but i know that’s not for everyone
Disney has never done this XD. It's a way to grow their Disney+ platform weekly
I like it too, releasing all episodes. I even think it’s a better idea to see how the whole season goes for audiences.
@@coolmade2000 its good and bad
its good for us as the audience but bad for when it comes to emmy season because people will forget all about this show
like what happens to alot of netflix shows
For me, it depends on the series. If its one with a high suspense level or is very intense like Game of Thrones or The Last of Us, I'd prefer weekly. If it's a sitcom over many years like HIMYM or Friends, also prefer weekly. But if its compact and not as suspenseful like Wednesday or this, I'd prefer all at once.
I think the era of marvel and superhero stuff is over the world needs more of these
LMAO its defo not over but more of this stuff would be cooil.
The other multiverse of Everything Everywhere all at once
Looking forward to this one. I absolutely loved EEAAO. And the cast looks great!
Really cool how the 3 main characters in that movie will be in this show!
I literally can’t wait any longer for this! Looks absolutely amazing!! Especially with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton and Academy Award WINNING actors Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan from my favorite movie EEAAO attached! ❤🤩
Cretton’s directing “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” as well!🤗
and Stephanie Hsu is also there...squad goals haha
@@cor_cordium and James Hong too I just discovered 😁
as an asian 10th grader like Jin, i really enjoyed the series since some of my favorite genres are mythology, traditional stories, and legends based on religion. I found it highly relatable and can't wait for season 2!
Just finsishes it an man y’all better be workin on that season 2 ❤️😭loved it man
Michelle portrays every Chinese character that she plays perfectly.
It's giving modern-day, Marvel-like, live-action American Dragon: Jake Long and I'm HERE FOR THIS
I’m so excited for this!!!! It looks absolutely amazing
This looks pretty cool, Ive heard of the book before, but never read it. Hope the episodes are as good as the trailer makes it seem 🤞

I got everything everywhere all at once, Shang chi and Wendy wu homecoming vibes from this and this looks refreshing and something new besides the MCU and star wars can't wait to see this 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's a EEAAO reunion for Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu! So excited to watch this ❤❤❤
James Hong is in this too. ;)
It was a great series. One of the better ones on this streamer. It's crazy how the overwhelming majority of series on Disney+ never even get renewed for season 2. What's the point of watching anything on Disney+ when we know it will just get cancelled?
This looks like it's going to be incredible 🔥
Half the cast of everything everywhere all at once is here I’m so excited
Wendy Wu walked so Jin Wang can run
Used this graphic novel & the Monkey King, graphic Novel, in a special Reading program when books first came out. Loved them. Then, had some resistance from students & colleagues. Was surprised at how many people were uncomfortable with the books. Who had to be "hard" taught to see the beauty & cleverness of the books. So Glad there's now a show that embodies some of the ideas & lore, in a form that's accessible. More minds can now, perhaps be, opened to idea that other folk's reality, is all of our realities. 😊
Weird, what were they uncomfortable about?
@@daisychong3488 a few White folk ( teachers) told me the book was "distasteful, & "racist" bc it highlighted stereotypes, prejudices & misunderstandings." about Asians... A number of young people from the Caribbean, harped on prejudices they harboured, gleaned - perpetuated from ??? Will not repeat their ridiculous & offensive ideas. Was amazed at how much time & energy was needed to lay simple groundwork for the Read. But, of course most people in USA are not taught even US history; & until fairly recently, rarely mix with others, outside their limited circle of family & friends.
This looks exactly like everything everywhere all at once. It looks great
Glad Disney is putting out some content I can watch when most other people are gonna see The Little Mermaid remake, because I'm not gonna watch that. This looks far more worth my time. And yes this series premieres on the day The Little Mermaid remake hits theaters.
Yeah although this series is based on the 2006 Graphic novel Of American born Chinese I’m looking forward to the series. This has been my 3rd anticipated release since Chang Can Dunk and PromPact
The remakes really annoy me. Whether people like or dislike this show I am glad Disney took a chance on something new.
I binged watched this whole series! I can't wait for the next season to come out 👍👍👍👍👍
During my Disney days American Dragon Jake Long was one of my favorite shows. IDK if Disney knew there was nostalgia here. Happy Michelle Yeoh is getting her recognition too. She did ALOT of classic Kung Fu flicks and that's where I originally saw how good she was, definitely a long time coming
This looks great! Can't wait to watch it next month.

I’m an American born Chinese and this trailer made life looked a lot easier.
It was way harder born in the 80s.
Live to see the ETEWAAO cast again in a same themed movie again...I hope there's terrific fight scenes in this
Just finished watching season 1, can't wait for season 2
I just started watching the first episode only because there was an article about it being an award contender so anyway, so far it's really funny especially if you have the same background as the main character. I especially find the scene where the main character gets paired up with the overseas student so hilarious because it's so accurate. When I was in elementary school I got paired up with a student who had just moved to the States from overseas even though I didn't speak their native language. So relatable! Yay for it being on Disney Plus! They didn't have any of this kind of programming when I was a kid so you all are spoiled.
Everything everywhere all at once vibes look there’s Evelyn from another universe
Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh in this series?! She's truly an amazing film actress!
I look forward to this movie. One of the actors is from my town and another one is from the same country where I grew up.
Hate having to subscribe to another streaming service but this looks really good. Can't wait.
This looks incredible! 🙏🏽💪👏

I really hope the very poignant themes of the original book don't get lost in all the added action
It is so fun to recognize every weapon and characters that I know from my childhood in the trailer without actually reading the book
