- Kaylee Demkiw is an ultrasound technologist at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonon, Alberta, Canada.
She graduated from NAIT's Diagnostic Medical Sonography program in 2009 and landed a great job months before finishing school.
This diploma prepares students to conduct ultrasound examinations, focusing on obstetrics and gynecology, abdomen and superficial structures, adult echocardiography and vascular technology. Students participate in clinical rotations in locations throughout Alberta and elsewhere.
Visit www.nait.ca/pro... for more information.
Love to see how excited and happy she is about her career :)
More like $38/hour..and that's starting. Few more years in the field and you can average more than that, especially working in hospitals. Besides, it's not always about the money, you'd be surprised to know that people actually chose careers because they are genuinely passionate about them. If you wake up every morning loving your job, it doesn't seem like work. Try it yourself.
she is so sweet
General is general i.e abdo and small parts....... not obstetrics
Pay depends on Region. 38 in some places. 28 some place else.
I’ve been looking for a job within the field for almost six months, trying to stay positive
The course is called Diagnostic Medical Sonography www.nait.ca/program_home_76669.htm 100% employment rate with starting salary of approximately $75K. RJ
+Pink Photons Yes. The demand for Sonographers is very high.
In Canada, depending on where you are, the starting pay is about $57,000- $78,000
Well, I'm the hiring manager/ultrasound tech for my ultrasound dept. and I don't make $127k, so you might want to do your research again.
Too answer your question? lol
That's true. I know a sonographer and she makes about 130,000 a year, right out of school! Some make more than the doctors.
what is the name of the courses i can't find it on the bait web ? help !
Hi, I'm really interested in this field and I wanted to ask you some things if you don't mind :) How did you get job experience beforehand, so that you knew this was what you wanted to do? And also, are the majority of sonographers employed by hospitals? If so, are they always "on call?" Sorry for all the questions, thanks!!
@hobobanna6575 That is a terrible assessment of what ultrasound entails. Your cousin makes what she wants of her job. There are plenty of avenues to advance its whether you have the drive or the skill to do so. Ultrasound is a excellent allied health field where what you do is challenging and a great deal of responsibility is placed in your hands but you have to be determined to do your job right. I've been a technologists for 13 years and I love my job.
