a ARMY theory is that these are all different Events that occurred to him in various timelines of his life: he was a child to his parents, a friend in a group out partying, a boyfriend in a turbulent relationship, and then a husband with a beauiful family. Throughout, he felt like he was never fit perfectly into any of these roles. In his journey of self discovery he encounters another human, kim minha (the actress), who is as lost as he is in the maze of societal roles and expectations. However after they had a conversation on the couch, he realizes that it's not just him, this is the reality of most people, and life is never going to feel perfect cut to him being teleported to these scenarios again, but now he's happy bcs knowing he is not alone in this journey makes him appreciate life and it's imperfections more. In the end it's almost like enlightenment where he's freed from the shackles of pursuing a perfect life now understands the true meaning of living. you see him walking through the forbidden door with kim minha, both now happy and content 💜
i dont think they're different events, i think each room represents a fear , first one is a fear of commitment, second one is a fear of relationship/love, and the last one of growing up. And then him realizing that he will always have someone helps him eaze out the fear and appreciate life and have fun.
or finding and exploring himself, and self love as well. During the whole song he is saying encouraging stuff, and saying that springs always been here. I think he's refering to him, he is the spring he is always there, and after he sees himself he's straight to happy. Once he learned to appreciate himself and actually see who he is, and love himself, it allowed him to love the places around him. He realizes that he actually has someone, himself.
People in the South Korean military (active military) are not allowed to work during service, including not being allowed to appear on video. RM, along with many of the other members, created a lot of content for their fans to consume/enjoy before having to start their service.

For me basically that's all the society's pressures: being a good son, being a good friend, marrying and being a good husband and father, everyone always expecting you to be something. All of it goes away when you meet the right person, who's like a reflection of you and can just...be you. Or maybe it's not about the right person, just to go your way into the light with your trueest self.
Their is also many explanation/theory of why Rm is berefoot in the end: it coulf be a reference of one of his lyrics in wildflower (Rm precedent song).
i think that kim minha represents his amina, all his fears and hopes and guilts manifested in a feminine existence, as females are most commonly associated with emotional vulnerability, so he might be talking about how he is scared to fit into the societal expectations and then realizing that this is the life he has chosen and it wont be normal, but whatever the choice he makes, he would the most happy in that as he says ' trying not to be the something in this sea'
This is Indie R&B. Which I think I saw he topped the indie charts. Yes RM can sing. You have to listen to more of his songs. He is so good. All members created content while they were gone. I'm not 100% sure I think they're they only band to do so (atleast that's what I heard) yes as someone said already his album is coming out the 24th. He did an interview too. That might help you understand the song. And I think he has 3 or 4 more MVs coming out. This was a pre release to his album. He also sang this song at Sugas solo concert in Seoul when it wasn't 100% finished. He treated the audience with it.
Yes, this was done before the military. These guys work so HARD! Lots of Korean actors in this... The MV director directed BEEF on Netflix and the Korean actor you were pointing to in the beginning was in BEEF.
Lee Sung Jin, the MV director, said he and RM shared a lot of stories and came upon a story about a man that was stuck in a house with his PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. Doors have always been very symbolic. The door with the three different colored circles could mean PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE . Triptych architecture in history has also had symbolisms for past, present and future or for harmony like life and death, man and woman, Yin and Yang, the moon and the sun with the middle piece being the connection, our enlightenment, a third eye, a doorway to inner happiness.
Also the different colors and lighting keep changing and I believe when they finally go through the door the three colors on the door are red, green and blue and I know RM has mentioned RGB before. He's also mentioned multiverses and reading The Midnight Library (many similarities to this MV).
Right Place, Wrong Person. It's conceptional. The place isn't wrong but he (we) might feel wrong. The conceptual understanding is that we need to find ourselves, our own happiness to feel right wherever we are.
The song and video were made before he went into the military, and he posted it later. I love this song, it's been on repeat.

Whenever any member of BTS does something that is different from what you normally see them doing, you guys don't adapt very well. Like when JK did his explicit version of "Seven", you guys were all acting self righteoous & appeared to be so shocked. You need to remember these guys are now grown ass men, free to express themselves through music in ways they feel comfortable doing. On their solo albums each member was free to be creative & be able to make the kind of music they want, like JHope who totally shocked Armies when his rock song "More" came out. I really admire each member showing their individual styles & as an Army we all need to adjust & accept that they have grown creatively & want to put out music they like!!! They are no longer teenagers, but adults who are not tied to shackles but just showcasing their different styles from the type of music they normally do as a group. They will always be BTS & brothers for life, but also individuals who have different tastes in music which actually makes them a unique group💜💜💜💜💜💜💜Again if you are real fans, you need to grow with them and adapt. RM is a gifted lyricist, this song was beautiful & his acting skills was also superb!!! All the people in the video are actors in Korea.
They can’t do any professional activities while they’re in the Military guys… they prepared all this content before enlisting. RM spoke about how busy he was getting his album done before he had to enlist.

Yeah, you guys got it! Of course, it's up to different interpretations based on how we feel, but we ARMY think it's about how society has expectations for each of us (have a family, a partner, make your parents proud...) and he doesn't feel at ease in any of these scenarios. This interpretation has more meaning when we think about the fact that in 2017 he changed his stage name from "Rap Monster" to "Real Me", because he didn't want to label himself and not be able to experience through every genre of music and art. This ties back in perfectly with the title of his upcoming album "right place, wrong person", in every scene in the first part he felt wrong. When he met the woman who was going around the home, and probably experiencing the same as him, he felt seen and understood, and after that in every scenario he is happy. The woman, may not be a lover, but since it looked like there were two RMs, it probably stands for loving and understanding yourself before being able to fully love others. The last shot looked like a cinematic set, and if you look close every room repeats itself, that could be a reference to when we're feeling like we're stuck in loops, but he finally was able to escape.
This video is sooo mind-blowing, I loved it soo much, and there are a lot of korean super famous actors, like: Kim Minha (Pachinko), Joseph Lee and the director Lee Sung Jin (both worked on Beef, which won Emmys), Kang Gilwoo (The Glory) and many others.

This song is about the pressure to grow up within predetermined boundaries, such as the social construction of marriage and having a heteronormative partner, it's really profound knowing how in Korean society especially, people live a lot by social pressure and what people expect of them, That is why in the end we see how he understands that he does not

Love this. Like BTS led the way to show a group of artists, industry outsiders can do the impossible and make it big not obeying the rules. RM proves you dont have to sell out. You can be the artist you want. My theory in RMs work every mix tape and album is different from the last. His first self titled mix tape the track DO YOU( the song that says clearly he refuses to be labelled or boxed into any genre). He is continuously pushing boundaries. In a way thats what is also happening in the mv. RM wanders around depressed confused and unhappy through all these potential different lives and expectations never being comfortable. We see this has been so since he was small. At some point he becomes more comfortable in each scenario after being united with his other half/ self, and he can be more comfortable with others. But he still doesnt stay, he moves on finds himself and accompanies the woman( his other half Jung or Plato?) out of the maze of societies expectations to find non of it's real. In the light he sees its all fake sets designed and created by someone else. However with RM there is always light at the end. Hope of better futures now he can see what life is about, he is free of those boxes. There are several clues for ARMY buried within the MV. Pain Devine. During a conversation piece with Pharrell Williams they discussed judging lyrics by how painful they are to produce ...pain divine, devine inspiration?
