    Produced by Kevin Oeste and V8TV Productions, Inc. - Replacing quarter panels on an American muscle car is major surgery, but it is not impossible. In this video, we take you through the steps we took to replace a rusty quarter panel on our 1968 Camaro with a new full quarter panel from Classic Industries. So glad I rediscovered this channel. Lots of wonderful content. When I'd be home sick with a bad cold I'd do marathons on this channel. You guys do things the right way and it's very inspiring.

    @sanchtech We did mention to fit all the panels around the quarter, 'cause you're right, we took a lot of time to get the quarter to door alignment correct. Could have been clearer in the video. Thanks for pointing it out!

    @RobRichmondRPG We do have an HTP Quickspot II spot welder, which we used in this project in the wheelhouse to quarter lip area. There's a lot of material to cover in less than 10 minutes, so perhaps we should have shown more of that. As for grinding discs, cut off wheels, and other abrasives, we use 3M stuff primarily.

    @TRcustomengineering as far as i know yes , there are 3 tin /lead combo's 25/75 50/50 75/25 but when i just looked it up in the us it is a 30/70 combo . you also need to find tinning butter / paste to prepare the metal

  • @vcval
    @vcval Před 13 lety

    @TRcustomengineering , depending on you country if in the us eastwood's have a lead free kit comes with paddles paste and lead free rods and dvd , if your not in america any plumbing supply/ welding supply and get 30/70 tin vs lead this is what was recommended to me , so far i have only removed lead and not put any back , thats sometime after july :)

    great video but I think you should have mentioned fitting the door. No way do I think you didn't do it but it's worthy of mention.

    Hi, unfortunately I need to replace the passenger side quarter panel and taillight panel from a 1968 firebird 350cui. Seems the car had small accident in the states. Probably crashed beneath a higher truck. Which shop do have good aftermarket products which actually fit and have a good quality? I don´t want to have a bad surprise when ordering from the united states being shipped to Germany. I had a bad experience when I used to buy aftermarket products for my Corvette. Thank you in advanced!

    @vcval Yeah I'm in the US.
    So any plumbing store will have this same stuff?
    Is it the same as regular pipe solder?

    how much does a job like this cost ??

    • @V8TV
      @V8TV  Před 8 lety

      +aaron southall It all depends on the amount of work required. If the car is badly rusted, then there is more labor and parts time to replace all the bad stuff.
