The problem with tthe tech is proof of how professional this band is, 'cause it shows that the sound they make is completely real with no shit backing tracks. I love these guys!!!!
I love the gear malfunction. Sure it takes you out of the moment for a minute but it tuns an otherwise average moment into something more unique and memorable. Life would be so boring if everything was perfect all the time.

@@dorianl7294 he probably is not the kind of guy to be in the first row at opeth. he said in an interview that he doesnt like being surrounded by beer and sweat in the audience
I actually saw him a few years ago in the back rows when Opeth was playing in Israel (where he spent a lot of time, with his collaborations with Aviv Gefen and later Ninet Tayeb), so it is quite possible he came to enjoy them in his home country of England too.
I was at this gig and the technical problems weirdly almost made it better! The audience felt Frederik's pain while Mike took the piss! Then the Audience keeping the atmosphere going and finally the massive cheers when the guitar fired up! Tremendous!

This must have "sucked." They are in the middle of a process to record this entire song and concert for a new live DVD and something goes wrong with Fredrik Åkesson's guitar. Still they finished it off with a near perfect execution. I cannot wait to get the entire DVD I ordered online for this concert..
Its absolutely unusual that a frontman names the members that left the band before introducing the new ones. He´s a gentleman and so confident that no problem saying that Per and Martin Lopez left...
Embarrassing to have just discovered Opeth at my age. Fucking awesome sound. Im sure the his guitar failing was a test to see if the bass player was actually playing : P
Never too late. Imagine all the other things you missed! Be glad to have found this nugget. I'm no spring chicken either, I just think that's how things go. Increasingly, things are in the rear view mirror and you're like "uh... how didn't I see this before?!". The only embarrassment would be to never accept change and new things. You're doing fine.
The poor editor is doing his best to make the band look energetic and dynamic when they're just standing there. Opeth is a technical musician's band. If we wanted 'action' we'd be watching Van Halen or something!
7:00 one and a half min of soundtrouble. Pjuh! I could feel the stress of Fredrik, althogh - Mike were calm and saw it more as a funny blooper I suppose. :D Beast band! I saw them live during their 20 years anniversary at Cirkus, Stockholm. It was a fantastic evening!
It apparently happens quite a bit during their concerts. Strings breaking and equipment mishaps. He's probably used to it. Go watch "Demon of the Fall" from the new Red Rocks DVD/Blu-ray---another minute-long failure.
This song is so all over the place I love it. One of if not my favorite watershed track. Mikaels solo is one of his best too in this song. Love the clean parts and the funky psychedelic part in this song. It’s a perfect prog metal track.
The fact that there is a mess up in the song makes it that much better I think. Not every show can be perfect and the group seems to have a pretty good sense of humor. I am sure they had a good laugh about it after the show was done. And no one seemed to be too pissed off about it. Doubt a roadie got fired.

I love Lopez, but I'm not sure if he ever came back to the band whether he'd be able to pull off some of the more insane Axe tracks like this one, live. This drumline is very difficult. I doubt it will ever happen anyways, but its something I've always wondered.
