In this video I share with you all my full review of the all Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, which is the little brother of the galaxy tab a7 that Samsung released last October, in part of it's Android budget line; call this my Galaxy Tab A7 Lite Review.
Samsung seems to continue to extend its tablets line up with this budget tab added to the already many galaxy tablets out for sale on the Android platform, and there are quite a few no name tablets out there in this category of mini tablet, including the Apple iPad Mini, although they dont compete in the same category in terms of performance.
This video will add a little more perspective to what I'd already shared in my Samsung galaxy tab A7 lite first impressions and hands video, so you can always watch that video also, along with the many other videos I made on the regular galaxy tab A7.

I purchased this tablet for video watching, occasionally browsing the internet and a few light games. I'm not into picture in picture nor dual screen apps. If anyone finds slight lag, this is due to animations, unlock developer options and these can be reduced to ensure the tablet runs quicker 👍
Hi, did yours have backlight bleeds? (Little lights at the side of the screen when view a dark image, especially at night)
Mine is had that since day one, which is a bit frustrating
@kelvin Oshianer yes. I bought mine last week and noticed it. I woke up one morning and it was under my leg and I thought I'd damaged it and exchanged it for another. The replacement has the same problem...still, I like it.
I'm watching this video on the a7 lite for the first time too late I already bought it
I LOVE IT..
BATTERY LIFE !!!
OUTSTANDING !
WORKS PERFECTLY..
This form factor is PERFECT for traveling light and ease of use on the fly. I hope companies invest in this segment a bit more to improve PPI for a better viewing experience (200 - 220 PPI) and a slightly smoother OS. Thanks for the review!
Nice review, thanks. I have one (the cellular variant), and I love it. I find it super-fast, but that's just because I compare it to my 9-year-old(!) GalaxyTab 2 7.0. Now *that* one is slow with a dual-core CPU and 1 GB RAM and a tiny screen. Then again, compared to my wife's iPad, the A7 Lite stutters every now and again and feels nowhere near as butter-smooth as the Apple. But I don't mind, the form factor is perfect for me (fits in a trouser pocket) it's fast enough and it's only half the price.
For those who think an occasional lag is an issue... How many times have you stood in line for something in your life much longer?
Nice comment. I agree: in a small tablet, a bit of stutter is just fine. And let's not get started with the "it has to be a 120 Hz screen" and the like snobbery.
Thank you for this in-depth review! You highlighted a lot of points that would be relevant to everyday consumers. My school is planning to purchase these tablets for the underprivileged students to use during remote learning.
Agree with the review, I had bought it for my daughter, happy with it !!
Wish Samsung would make a similar size tablet with upgraded screen and performance. I for one, would buy it.
I came for this review as I see it's being offered for free on what are normally fairly cheap contracts in South Africa. Told me everything I wanted to know, thanks!
Thanks for this nice review! Have been thinking to replace my Lenovo Tab 4 8 plus to a more modern device with better performance. The frozen app installation would be certainly a big concern to me.
I found your video today. I wanted to get this to just carry when I am out and about. I have the S7+ but it's too big to be that kind of mobile. Cheers!
Finally! God-damn finally! Somebody that actually reviews something here on CZcams properly! Somebody that shows how the tab is preforming and if it lags or not, rather than showing a bunch of stupid Antutu and blah blah blah benchmarks and a spec sheet that you could look up on the internet yourself! You definitely have yourself a new subscriber, man!
I would be VERY CAREFUL, if I were you, to use God's name as a curse word
How does the performance compare to the existing 8" tablets in the market??
And yes...you are correct. There are a number of us that like the way an 8 inch tablet feels in our hands. Wasted a ton of money on full size iPad once, felt like I was holding a TV! Nope..not for me.
I end up watching every video you release haha. Another great job!
Hahaha, I appreciate you brother👊🏾
This is the video i wanted. After seeing this video, i ordered the tab and it arrived. Thanks a lot sir for this very useful and amazing video. Keep it up.
Great review. Only need a cheap tablet for a bigger screen to watch shows and movies on the go instead using my iPhone 12
Thanks for the review, I was looking for a tablet just for work and glad I found this video.
Thanks ivan for a nice review, I was looking for a tablet for a child in my family and I think this one will be great.
Is it fit for some browsing and study, editing office docs and watching movies copied on SD card? Also running certain apps that allow you to do some web coding?
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, i was looking for something to use as a textnow phone and to use as a mp3 player/ eq boost with the app for my stock radio in my car.
Great review! I am on the fence about this one and trying to decide between this and an Ipad Mini 6. This review really helped!
Which did you choose in the end
I just ordered a grey one for my kid's birthday, he's 8 and I think this is a perfect tablet for him, considering size, features and price. I might steal it to watch a few movies in bed and some composing on BandLab. Great review.
Thinking about getting one. Would use mainly as a reader, web searches and watching a few youtube vids. Since I would use as reader, don't want to carry around a 10 inch tablet. Would this be a good choice?
I got this for media consumption and really enjoying it. It was either this or the iPad mini 5. I stuck with this because I wasn't gonna do much other than watch videos and some light tasks with it. The only drawback for me really is the inability to move the apps to the SD Card. Other than that it suits me pretty well.
You can move apps to a SD card. At least some of them. Unfortunaly it is available only for like 10% of apps (I don't why it's not possible for all of them).
Actually you can by using developer option just turn on "force external"
I'm looking at this as a hyper-portable thing that I can carry with ease regardless of what I'm doing. I want it do run Chrome, Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides. Performance is second to portability.
Great review. I got this a couple of weeks back purely for the form factor. For my usage needs, music, videos, reading, internet this is perfect. It's a much easier option to grab this for light use than go to a 10 inch tablets. I don't experience much stuttering but then again I'm not pushing this tablet to the limit. So I'd really recommend this for anyone who has similar use cases as I do. Love your channel... Keep up the good work 👍
Yeah same, I bought this tablet and I don't have a heavy use for it, I have used it every day and I love it
Thank you!!
same here! bought this 2days ago.. 😊😊
hi, you recommend for replace a iPad mini 2?
Are you still happy with it? Sounds like we have close to same needs. Mainly going to use as my reader, watch a few you tube vids, search the web. Don't really want a 10 inch.
I appreciate you buying the tablet so you can review it. Love your review.
🙏🏾
Dear, Mr. Kam thank you for the EXCELLENT video. I got mine on a promotion with T Mobile. I am a 60 yr old black woman who uses this tablet to chat, check my email, watch videos, make my grocery list, schedule appointment reminder, listen to music from Swedish EDM's Eric Prydz to Italian Baroque's Corelli and face time my 5 year old grandson. It has pretty good sound without earbuds or phones. With them it's very very good. It also seamlessly connects to bluetooth devices. Movies are really great with surround sound, music is perfect pitch as well with earphones of course. You're so right it is somewhat slow and wonky at times but it fits very well in my handbag. Also screen protector makes it a little less sensitive to touch response. That can be frustrating, I've wondered if I should just 86 the screen protector...just too scared to. I also have the 10.7 Galaxy S6 for serious stuff. This A7 has replaced my old 1st generation iPad which served as my digital grocery list and iTune player. It is not an easy fit for my purse though. I'm getting an SD card 64gb to help with memory and hopefully makes it a little more digitally maneuverable. The camera isn't really much to write home about I just use my Galaxy Note 20 ultra for that. All in all I really like the tablet not love, I love my S6 though. It's a durable little tablet with a very practical angle. I like the weight and size of it. Super helpful when I don't feel like straining my eyes or putting on my reading glasses to read on my Note 20 Ultra. If you can get one at a reasonable price it's a good deal I feel. Try it you may grow to like it.
I am looking at getting this tablet mostly for use for film study with my athletes (I'm a throws coach). I'd use it casually as well for personal use. Would this be a good choice in tablets or should i get something more high powered?
As a basic tablet to surf the web, do e-mail, and travel with, I love mine
Nice
Wish someone would keep it next to a Phone & the A7 10" to compare, not even one CZcamsr thought of it 🤔
I just bought this tablet and I love it. The screen is beautiful and the processor is fast. It works perfectly for what I need in a tablet.
I like mine so far. I have the basic tablet and I love the small size. I can throw it in my shoulder bag and take it anywhere. Thanks for doing this review.
I have subscribe you. Pls tell me is there any lag while using youtube and chrome in side by side view with calculator in pop up view .
I am going to buy this for studies. I will be using youtube and google for studies and some games and making presentation.
Such a great review man
Great channel, thanks! You are helping me a lot in my quest for a new tablet. :-) Man, I miss the days of the small but powerful tablet... I still use my 2013 Nexus 7, which is getting too slow and old. At the time, it was one of the best performers and it was a compact Android machine. That is the combination I want (easy to carry around, even in a coat pocket), but unfortunately it no longer exists... Small tablets are all low memory, slow CPU, as far as I could find. So I'm going to go the 10.x inch route now. Again, thanks for all the genuine user info! Cheers!
Thank you so much for watching!
@@IvanKam11 Thank YOU, and I bit the bullet and ordered the Samsung S6 Lite. Let's see how that does.
@@jotampa how'd that go?
Thanks for the honest review.
Im buying it comes tomorrow thanks for sharing your opinion and sub
FWIW, Best Buy currently (Nov 6th 2021) have the 64Gb/4Gb/WiFi version for $129.99 in pre-Black Friday sales. At that reduced point the lower performance is more acceptable.
Thanks for your review
Best tablet reviewer in the game! No debating it
You’re too kind my friend, thank you so much for the support 🙏🏾
3GB on Android 10+ was going to feel the sluggish even if it has better processor. I see other review use 4GB model it work good even in multitask
Planning to use this on online class, editing photos, making pubmats and documents. Would you recommend this for me? Thank you!
Great content, keep it up
On sale for $110. Can't really complain about anything when it's so much cheaper than most other tablets.
Just grabbed one in the shop purely for controlling lights, music etc... in a poolhouse. It is cheap but does what it needs to do and much easier for this use case than an old phone (bigger screen) And indeed: form factor is ideal for some occasional browsing etc... when in the garden
Absolutely love it for what it's worth yeah it's not going to beat the big boys but for finally having a tablet that has a wallpaper and literally can be upgraded to 1 TB on storage it's pretty damn cool for that much
nice video! it would be nice to know if the front cam is good enough for people to see me on a messenger/zoom call :) thanks
Hi Ivan, great videos! Please can you tell me what you would choose between TCL Tab 8V Android 11, 8 Pouces, 4 Go + 64 Go (up to 512 Go), 5500 mAh, Wi-FI or Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite SM-T220N 32 Go 22,1 cm (8.7") 3 Gb Wi-FI 5 (802.11ac) I have watched your reviews on both and would value your opinion? Also if you have a recommendation for something at the same price, size that would be great. Thank you.
Im deciding if i should buy this tablet so very thankful for the honest review.
If $200 gets you this with 64gb of storage and 4gb of RAM, I would easily pay an extra $100-150 to get a better processor, 6gb of RAM, 128gb of storage, and a better OLED screen in an under 9" form factor. Single-handed use and two-handed gaming comfort in smaller tablets is a severely underrated experience.
As far as apps on the SD. In the developer options there is a section under the apps tabs (Force Apps on external) its worth a try I have it enabled but do not have an SD card in my Tab A7 to test it out. It's worth a try to say the least.
Also would love to see this device paired against the A7 in another video!
I’ll try to get a batte going between the two.
Yea I tried the dev option since the A7 and it was a no go. Apparently it’s simply that Samsung has now removed the ability on the A series
I just recently purchased the 64gb/4gb ram version for my daughter and while not the fastest of course, but is a HUGE upgrade over her outgoing tab A 8".
Would you happen to know if then S-Pen works with these models? I would love to buy it for her but don't want to waste the money
Hi, did yours have backlight bleeds? (Little lights at the side of the screen when view a dark image, especially at night)
Mine is had that since day one, which is a bit frustrating
Truly an amazing and honest review. Buddy, would request if you can do a comparison b/w Lenovo M8 (2nd gen, 3gb/32 gb, LTE+wi fi) and Samaung A7 lite. Would be really helpful as I’m confused on which on to buy for my father as his bday present. His primary tsks would be reading articles, surfinv social media and watching videos and cinema. Lenovo offers IPS display but read somewhere tgat it has battery ussye, both with charging too late and draining out too soon. Request your suggestion. Thanks in advance!
This!
Definitely looking at this to use as an e-reader. The smaller display is a major selling point for me because I am looking for a book type size not a large display.
Me, too. My concern is if the screen is big enough to read the texts.
Same here. Did you end up buying it?
If it's One UI 3.1 there is an option in Settings to change font size for the whole O/S. Kindle allows some font size changing (though it's an awful app I do not use). Moon+ Reader lets me customise text size completely. I jailbreak my Kindle books & pirate the rest. Yeah I said it. 8 inch is plenty for e-reader imho. I've currently got the Tab A 8" (2017) and that's big enough for me, plus Moon+ Reader you can customise margins also to fill up more of the screen with text. This one is going to be an improvement because of the bezel size. It's much smaller than previous 8 inch models and any on the market right now by the looks plus it's an 8.7". The iPad mini looks to have smaller screen-real estate so you've not got a lot of choice. To my mind it's this or put up with a 10 inch which for me gets a bit heavy, which is why I have the S6 for other things and the smaller light one for books.
Plus consider the SD card size. 1TB limit for this price is outstanding. I have a super enormous academic library so I'm getting to a point where I'm going to break the 256GB limit any time now which rules out my old Tab A and obviously Apple.
waiting for a small Android tablet with flagship specs that can replace my huawei mediapad m6 8.4inch..nothing can beat it so far
Hi, did you say the battery life was 6 hours with heavy use? 'Im hesitant to by any tablets, I bought an Amazon Fire tablet and the battery life was 30% of what it claimed. Excellent review, thank you.
I always wondered how do you make a A series tablet a lite version when it’s already a mid range tablet
Great review I have purchased one to use on a boat for marine navigation with the Navionics app and runs great. The screen is bright and allows to see detail in maps without being too big. Form factor was my main reason for purchase. The gps chip is fast in acquiring position and very accurate. Great tablet for the price.
How do you think about A7Lite vs Lenovo Tab M8?
Hey chief, does the LTE model has volte and vowifi ?
These things are perfect for downloading a few games, social media apps, and my Kindle books! More RAM and better processor than the Kindle tablets.
I got my A7 lite a week ago, and absolutely love it. I am NOT a power user nor do I wish to be one. It's perfect for flying my drone... the screen is better than I thought it was going to be, reallynice and bright. I really don't have any issues with the resolution. It's looks great to me and my 2 year old loves it to watch his shows and play games. The speakers trip me out, they are excellent for my needs... love the expandable storage, I have a 256gb card in it... and have never had a storage issue.
Finally a great... and I mean great... 8"-ish Android tablet. For $160... worth every cent.
Hey Beau, can it play 1080p or 1440p on youtube and even fhd on prime and Netflix? Thanks.
@@youtubepremium2764 it has on 1340 x 800 screen, so no. But to be honest. I'm not the type to hold the screen close to my face, usually half an arm's length. And it does not bother me. CZcams and Netflix says the video payback is 1080p but it's just scaled down 1080p, but IMO, still looks good.
@@beaurunn1 Good to know. Thanks. I think I'll stay away from this one.
Nice!!
do you know if you can move app's to the sd card now? I heard the latest update let's you now.
I would've gotten this if it had pen support. I don't mind the pen isn't included, but the lack of the ability to even use S pen is just a big no for me.
How is it for zoom calls for online classes? Will it give 4hs continues zoom call in single charge? Tia
Any idea of usefulness for outdoor use? brightness under direct sunlight?, How many nits of brightness please
great video!
We need to make him 30K
🙏🏾
I bought the 4gb 64gb and I love it. For the size and for basics it's perfect. I mainly bought it to control model trains. I will get an A6 lite or it's predecessor .
Also re-watched your video In 1080p, from earlier on my S21 Ultra. Seriously not bad!
That’s great I got mines for a reader tablet hope u get good usage out of it.
Just ordered mine, waiting it to arrive. Will use it to read news/mail, surfing when having a shit and when I am about to sleep and no, not using for games.
I’ve got a TAB A 2019.. I wanna upgrade to this.
Am I able to smart view / screen mirror from a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Light to a Samsung Smart TV? The tablet isn't giving me a Smart View button like my Samsung phone does.
My wife is up dating from a Samsung Tab E to this A7 Lite. Do you know if she can up load her apps from micro sd card to the lite, if she can up load them from the Tab E to the card. I hope this machine will give equal or better preformance.
I'm watching on the last year's Tab A. I am annoyed that the keyboard is error-prone, the touch-screen is sluggish and sensitive to your palm, the contrast and sharpness are not good. So is the A7 a lot better?
Might grab this with it being so cheap at £150-130 depending where you buy, the A7 LTE seems to do everything i need it to, has more than sufficient colour/display, high quality speakers and a good bit of battery life. The UI and feedback looks responsive and tactile for the price it does the job and i'm planning getting one for Uni.
go for the a8 it has 4gigs of ram and double storage, id also like to hear your input
Can we access files from usb drive ( Pendrive ).
It seems that it supports netflix how about amazon prime.
does MX Player app runs smooth?
Thanks
I got one to use as a teleprompter. And when traveling I hotspot to my phone and use as gps mapping. Much larger display
Love mine! I can edit youtube videos using it 👍
hi! does a universal stylus work on this tablet?
I have this tablet as well in the 4gb/64 version and it's worth the money. I've moved away from the Amazon ecosystem into the Samsung one.... Quality is better. Thanks for the review!
I bought one and I love ❤ it! It was on sale for $119 and I missed it. Bought it for !$129.
I got the regular A7 once and the viewing angles were horrible, is it the same with the new lite a7
Is samsung Galaxy A7 lite compactible for DJI MAVIC MINI 2 (RC)? Advise pls
Are there any non Apple VERy good 7-8'' tablets out there? Please advise. I still have my old Galaxy tab S 8.4'' and I love it. It is getting a little old. I got it in 2015. Still runs well enough. It has a Super AMOLED Display with 2560x1600!!!
I wanna get one for school. Like I just need something portable to view my textbooks on.
I only paid $120 for mine, yet am still disappointed. Biggest gripe ( and I guess this applies to all new Samsungs) is that you can no longer move apps to the SD card, to free up storage space. 32g fills up fast these days when you start loading social media. , productivity , and gaming apps. Speaking of apps, some of the apps that had been previously loaded on my old Tab A said that they weren't comparable with the A7 Lite. This must be the replacement for the older Tab E series budget tablets, which were clearly intended for 3rd world markets.
I have the exact same problem! I can't even move my videos created in CapCut (for Instagram) to the SD card. Totally useless. Incredibly frustrating.
I was thinking of getting a used old ipad mini but was thinking of going for this..... i just want it for reading comics and books really. i have a 12.9 inch ipad pro and that things MASIVE. i got it for art and using on zoom calls lol. it great to use for when i want to make a sandwich but learn about economics. phones a bit too small, pros a bit too big, i want a middle ground
Appreciation from India
I'm getting this an converting it into an Amazon Kindle because it runs better than my Kindle and completely adds to Samsung collection
I love watching reviews of these low end tablets. Just waiting to find one that's decent enough to waste $120 on
What a mesmerizing eyes u have
It reminds me of one of them cheap HP streams in a way only better quality hardware. But you're still talking about a celeron level in terms of mobile devices. But its still miles better then the old Atom based netbooks. It's useable, but it's really designed for light use. Think grandma or a young kid. They would be impressed. A power user? Not at all. Wait, I am impressed by two things: The build quality and the price. It's a very cheap way of getting into the Samsung ecosystem too. That said at this price point spending a few more bucks to move up really counts. But if all your needing to do is some CZcams and check emails, one task at a time.. it's not the worst experience one could have.
It is what it is...I use mine for work for doing safety paperwork, tickets and video calls..Also use it for watching movies..I think its great for what i need it for.I paid $150 canadian for it and couldn't be happier with performance for the price..
Commenting for the algorithm.
I bought the A7 and A7 lite for my mom (she doesn't like 10 inch screens). We both mainly do emails, readings, and other light work related stuff. I think it's pretty good for its price.
That'd be cool if they released a small AMOLED tablet for multimedia even if other specs are not a game changer
In the past they released cheap devices with AMOLED so 🤷
I wish it too. My phone is too small and laptop too big to read or stream media. Size is perfect but the screen is a letdown. Even 1080p would have been better.
How would you compare this to the Fire HD 8? I’m looking for something to mostly watch videos in the car and maybe play light games
Depends how lightly of a game you will do and if you're going for 2022 version of HD8. HD8 2022 will not support Google Play.
Hey guys I need some help as soon as possible, which one would you recommend for an elder person ? This one or the Amazon hd 8 plus ?
Great review! I am unhappy with myself for not finding out specifically about downloading or moving apps to the sd card before I bought this tablet. Store staff said "No problem". BS. Now I also have a 64gb sd card installed that will remain virtually empty and internal storage that is rapidly shrinking. I love tech, but I paid for this with expansion possible ...... only to learn it is horribly restricted. The 64gb version is not mentioned in this area of Canada. 😡😡🤬🤬
hi, was wondering if you were able to get around that by rooting or another method?
@@jub8891 I have not been able to get around this. What is rooting?
@@Lesster112 basically unlocking the device to do reconfigure or replace the system
Its a great device for simple games and to watch movies and shows, totally worth the money
