Man I’m not gonna lie I was terrible at recruiting and have watched numerous “guide” videos to try and understand how to recruit. But I would still have a mid tier recruiting class. The highest I got was a 17 and that was with LSU (After 6 seasons with Tulane, I was offered the HC job at LSU). LSU was a 3.5 star when I took over. Still couldn’t get recruits. But that all changed when I stumbled across your recruiting videos. Dude ever since I watched your videos and mind you I watched them several times to make sure I was recruiting correctly, I have been killing it in recruiting. I went from a #17 class to a #4 class and now im on the following season after the #4 class and currently Im sitting at #1 with 7 - 5 stars and 11 - 4 stars that are mostly gems. Your videos are freaking kick a$&!!! I learned how to manage my hours better and man don’t get me started about the no sckolly 4 Stars lol. Honestly most of my gem 4 Stars came from the no sckolly group. But anyways I’m just rambling at this point. Keep up the great content brother, you are knocking it out of the park!!
So how do you go about scheduling visits and how many players do you try to spread points across first? I’m struggling with the visits aspect and find myself low on points or not being aggressive enough and only snagging 1-4 of my guys.
@@Mralon964 So what I do is on Week 0, I go look at all the 5 Stars. The first ones I target are the ones who have my school as their #1. Then I target the 5 stars who are my team needs but I’m not their top school. Then I’ll throw a few 5 stars on the board that or neither of the above. I usually put around 12-15 5 stars on my board. Then after that I will start targeting the 4 Stars that have me as their top school till I get to about 21 or 22 targets. I scout every 5 star on my board. Even if I get a 5 star that’s a bust, I still target them because at the most they are a low to mid level 4 star. After I scout all of them, I offer every 5 star a scholarship. I don’t do anything with the 4 stars. I just let them cook for a week. Now I can’t speak for everyone but I always treat the 5 stars like they have a very small window because what I’ve noticed is most 5 Stars are verbally committed by Week 5-6. Going into Week 1, you will pretty much know where you stand with any 5 star. As far as how many hours to drop on them or not. Off the rip in week 1, I will dump the max hours in the ones who are highly interested in me. My team needs guys, I try to dump as many as I can while spreading it evenly. My goal is to be in their Top 5 by week 2. If I’m in their Top 5 by week 2, I’m golden because I will schedule them a visit Immediately and as early as I can. I usually get their visits in by Week 4 to 5. Having a QB, RB, WR, OL or something to that effect visit at the same time gives you a huge boost. They call it complementary visits. I’m usually scheduling my last visits with 5 stars by week 6 or 7. Because I had a 5 Star OL who was heavy on OU and I was his #2 school. I put him visiting Week 5 with one of my 5 Star QBs and after the game was over both him and the QB committed. Also in week 1 you can kinda see how hard teams are pushing for the 4 Stars. If I don’t see any movement, I just leave them be. If I see a little bit of movement from other teams, I’ll drop 5-10 hrs on them. And then come week 2 if I see they are being pursued heavy I’ll offer them a scholarship and drop a few more hours. But a majority of my hrs are spent on the 5 stars the first 5 weeks of the season. Every week I look at the board and I’ll select just 4 stars. Then I’ll sort them by offers and I’ll target the 4 Stars who don’t have a scholarship or being pursued real heavy. I’ll let those just sit on the board dropping 5hrs here and there. I don’t offer scholarships to them right away. I just show I have interest in them and then when I see I’m climbing on their list, and still no school is pursuing them hard. I’ll back off and the following week I’ll offer a scholarship and I’ve gotten so many insta commits like that. I don’t start recruiting 4 Stars heavy until around Week 4-5. Unless I see them being pursued heavily then I’ll go after them. Watching the other schools week to week has helped a lot. Because if a target is being pursued heavily then I know to dump more hrs. And he’s right in his video, about the hard sell stuff. I’ve gotten burnt more using hard sell way to early than if I would have just used the 50, 25, 10, 5 hrs options. Or combination of those I mean. Now don’t get me wrong, I do use hard sell but only when another school is literally on my heels with a particular recruit. When I say I got burnt I mean because I used it way to early. If you haven’t watched his master class recruiting video for a 1 star program, definitely check it out because he goes way more into depth about all of this.
