It doesn't emote the angst that might have been felt by artist Vincent Van Gogh while he was committed to an asylum where he painted "Starry Night" from memory of his time in Arles, France. A young Dutch singer named Sophia Kruithof (search for her on CZcams) gave a proper rendition of this great song. I truly admire Gerphil. I really, really do. Having said that ... the arrangement, instrumentation, speed, and total concept of this particular piece is not on point and does not do justice to Gerphil's musicality. I can't believe I'm not liking anything even remotely related to Gerphil because we've worked with her friends in musical theater before. I don't know her personally but we would love to arrange an appearance for her in California as we've already done on two occasions for some of her friends. May I suggest that Gerphil do "Empty Chairs" or "Crossroads" from the same Don McLean1971 album. It better suits her style and genre. Nonetheless, I will give this performance a "LIKE" wholly based upon Gerphil's phenomenal talent.
The song is about someone interpeting what Vincent must have felt, not what Vincent himself was feeling. Get over your so called righteous self. I for one think this is the second best cover next to Josh Grobans cover. I went & listened to Sophia Kruithof & it was very good & listened to all her performances. Reminds me of a 60's folk singer. But I still prefer Gerphil.
