    Thank you so much for this video! I love hats, can you explain or demonstrate how you attached the wire to brim.

    • @kristenpeterssen5767
      @kristenpeterssen5767 Před 3 lety +1

      Use Migg wire, hold it with one hand and zig zag stitch the brim to the wire, go around twice before covering with a bias strip with a straight stitch. Careful as you're covering the wire though, if you're not paying attention you'll blunt your needle!

    • @Skater51
      @Skater51 Před 3 lety +1

      @@kristenpeterssen5767 Thank you so much!!! I have attempted to zig zag wire to the brims, but it's not my thing. I decided to hand sew the wire by hand. You have inspired me and I have been making hats for a year now. Unfortunately, hat blocks are pretty expensive, so I decided to make my own blocks.

    • @kristenpeterssen5767
      @kristenpeterssen5767 Před 3 lety +1

      @@Skater51 you can even use large Tupperware bowls for blocks! Lots of things will work, I have special fiberglass blocks but get creative. Even elastic bands rather than pins work to secure sinamay. Keep all your little scraps of sinamay to make fascinators. X

    • @Skater51
      @Skater51 Před 3 lety +1

      @@kristenpeterssen5767 yes, thanks. I've been very creative for sure. I have 23 years as a floral designer so I love to use what I have. I make my blocks out of foam and wood filler. I work with sinamay, buckram and all kinds of fabrixs. Thanks so much for your tips.
