@Dan Thomas I served on a grand jury. we had 2 civil cases, everything else was law enforcement related. one case, the plantiff didn't present any evidence. the other one, the plantiff came in with a brief case full of documents to back his claim. the police officers? not a SHRED of evidence. we had to take them at their word alone. so when you see these cases where officers murder people and the grand jury decides not to indict, just know that the reason they don't indict is because they hear the police's story, then their co-workers (the prosecution) tell the jury why there's reasonable doubt for the officer, and the jury has no ground to indict because there's no other evidence to examine. the "legal" system is a fucking scam. (But some defendants will face felony penalties, including a jail sentence of up to three (3) years, for personal possession of cocaine under HS 11350. This includes defendants who have either of the following on their record
a conviction for any of a small list of especially serious felonies, including murder, sexually violent offenses, sex crimes against a child under 14, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, OR
a conviction for a sex crime that subjects you to California's sex offender registration requirement.)
Fortunately, a conviction for personally possessing cocaine may allow you to participate in a California drug diversion program. Drug diversion...permissible under
      Proposition 36,14
      Penal Code 1000 PC,15 and
      California drug courts ...
allows eligible persons to participate in drug treatment in lieu of prison. And those who successfully complete diversion will qualify to have their drug charge(s) dismissed.

Especially if they are being stopped for a violent crime. This allows them to keep both hands ready to defend themselves. The suspect doesn't deny that is his wallet and cell phone on the ground. Not like the media wouldn't edit a police video to make the police appear in an unfavorable light for the sole purpose of creating a media storm to increase ratings. Body and car and any other cams should be running as long as they are on duty and uploaded to a cloud where the cops have to apply to have anything restricted.
The public pays for it, it is public information, and should be accessible by any of the public.
