It looks like a bare lead projectile or Winchester M22, which has a black copper plating. It may make a difference if you try high-quality copper washed or plated rounds if you're shooting lead. Then again, it may not! Every gun has it's likes and dislikes.
If it's M22, get something else. M22 is infamous for it's unreliability.
I have followed your gun and bible content for many years. I just now noticed that you pin the trigger after every shot. Not a big deal if you only shoot targets. It's a bad habit to have if you carry other guns defensively.

@roscoeshepard In my experience, the vast majority of failures to feed in .22 rimfire pistols are bad magazines, dirty guns, and weak grip/limp wristing. The bullet design has been refined over the years, but it is much the same as since I first started shooting, decades ago. I'm pretty sure if the bullet design was an issue, every .22 ammo maker in the world would correct the problem.

Using trash ammo and complaining about a 22lr pocket handgun not running properly is pretty comical. Use some minimags or some other high quality defense ammo and see how it runs. 22lr handguns are notoriously finicky and only tend to work well with particularly high quality, high velocity ammo. Yes, some 22lr handguns are less finicky, like my tx22 which is full size and will eat almost anything, but that's the exception and not the rule. After running about 200 rounds of CCI minimags or something similar, you'll have a much better understanding of whether it's the gun or ammo that's the main problem.

    Let me change your mind....
My worst .22lr pistol is a Walther P22. I bought one for me and one for my daughter many years ago.
My daughter's pistol had just about every possible malfunction you could think of and some that are pretty rare:
    Failure to feed.
    Failure to extract.
The magazine dropping out upon firing the gun (yes, it was fully seated).
Upon firing the safety would move out of the fire position.
It was sent back for repair three times.
S&W changed some parts out the first time and blamed the ammunition suggesting that we use CCI ammo.
The second time they change some more parts out (by the third time about the only parts the hadn't change out was the frame , slide, and barrel.
The third time I sent the gun in along with a spread sheet where I had fired about 8 different brands of ammunition.
I labeled the rows on the spread sheet 1-50 and indicated the malfunction on each row.
Every brand of ammunition resulted in multiple malfunctions per 50 rounds fired.

    • @emmanuelgoldstein4371
      @emmanuelgoldstein4371 Před 2 měsíci

      @@steelgila I agree, especially .22lr.
I find that hollow point ammunition and 40gr round nose lead ammunition are the most common to have failures to feed. Also watch out for old lead .22lr ammunition as sometimes lead oxide will form on the bullet making it difficult to feed into the chamber.
But the problems that we had with the Walther P22 were design problems. For example, the magazines that came with the early Walthers had "ears" on the magazines that engaged with the magazine catch. But these ears were too small on the early magazines. There was just not enough "meat" on the ears to engage the magazine catch and the magazines would drop upon recoil. The magazine would often have to be reseated and the slide racked to chamber a round.
The safety would sometimes move from the "fire" position to a position between fire and safe.

I've had the opposite experience with both P-22s I own. One regular, one target version. Feeds CCI, Remington, Winchester and Aquila without flaw, and both are Walther, not S&W production guns, which I suspect is why you had problems. I purchased the regular in 2013 and the target in 2014. I've rarely had any FTF or FTE with either gun. I prefer the target for its accuracy and have used it in our local competitions, and placed well enough in ranking.
Is it as accurate as my early 1930s High Standard Model B? No, but my Model B is very Ammo Sensitive, and in my neck of the woods, Standard Velocity .22 LR is hard to come by. It does not perform well with High Velocity .22 LR at all, consistently failing to return to battery.
Like I mentioned, I suspect your problems may have been due to "Who" was producing the pistol. That S&Ws Walther production/distribution was marred by production and quality control issues even worse than the later stages of Interarms US production. Main reason Walther actually built a US Production Facility was S&Ws hit & miss reputation.
If you get a chance to shoot the US Walther production gun, I'd encourage you to try it. I strongly believe there's a Night and Day difference between the guns.
My only real complaint, is the Target version, is a pain in the butt to clean. 😮

The ones made in Cologne, Germany as opposed to the ones made in Ulm, Germany or Walther USA in Fort Smith, Arkansas, are made by Walther’s parent company Umarex which is known for their air soft guns. They just slap the Walther name on some of their guns like the P22 and CCP because they can. The REAL Walthers (PDP, PPQ, P99, PPS, PPK in .380) are great.

(Disclaimer, this is used in Europe as a backup for several police forces; but, it’s cut from a block of Stainless Steel, can hold 12 rounds, so it’s *much* heavier than an average .380.

Bill Ruger was a massive Fudd. Ruger innovation was completely stifled until Bill passed. Subsequently, Ruget has been much more innovative and completely changed the concealed carry market with the LCP and the LCR. You can argue that the LCP was a copy of the Keltec but Ruger made the darm things correctly and dependable and at only 10.5 ounces that was something. The LCR completely re-imagined the J-frame and the trigger is so light and smooth it's like a Custom Shop S&W trigger. Bill was NOT a friend of the 2A. Let's not forget all his shortcommings and only remember the good, like the single action Rugers and the old Security Six, etc... Bill was a mixed bag at best.

22 LR is a rimmed cartridge, the rounds need to be loaded in the magazine a certain way to avoid "rim lock". As you load you need to ensure the rim of the top bullet is in front of the rim.of the bullet under it so the rim.of the top round being stripped off the magazine doesn't catch on the round under it. Repeat this for the entire magazine. There are a lot of internet articles that illustrate the proper loading to avoid rim lock better than I can explain here. Good luck.

    @tpelle2 Před 12 dny

I have one of those little Taurus .22LR pistols. The one with the tilt-up barrel. What I found was that it is not happy with extra-high-velocity ammo. Mine is 100% reliable with CCI Mini-Mag ammo, but it will experience failure-to-feeds with CCI Stingers. After some consideration, I concluded that it is due to dwell time and the extra high slide velocity produced with the Stingers!
You see, what has to happen in order for ANY semiauto pistol, or rifle for that matter, is that as the breech/slide travels to the rear during its cycle, the breech face has to clear the next cartridge in the magazine, and the magazine then has to push the cartridge up so that the breech face will engage it properly on the forward stroke and push the cartridge into the breech. It takes a certain amount of time, albeit a very short time, for that to happen. That is what is termed dwell time. If the slide velocity is too high, the slide will clear the top cartridge on its rearward travel, but will reverse direction too soon, allowing the breech face to override the next cartridge before the mag spring is able to get the cartridge in to position to be chambered.
The more compact that the weapon is, the more likely that there is insufficient dwell time to allow it to work as designed. And if you try even higher velocity ammo you are just cutting further into the dwell time, which makes the problem worse.

If it's shooting on center, file down the front sight, a little at a time.
10" low at 15 yards is going to take a little work.
Otherwise, place the top of the front sight slightly above the target and see where you are. That'll give you a clue as to how much filing you've gotta' do.
Keep in mind, if you're shooting downhill, it's going low, uphill's going to go high.
For this reason, keep the barrel, in relation to the target, as level as possible while making any adjustment to sights.

However, I did notice that the hammer actually stays in a half cocked position after chambering a round and between shots. Hammer supposedly cannot accidentally fall from that position. I sent it back to Ruger. They installed a new barrel and slide. 2nd day of testing with various ammo produced the same results. More light primer strikes, fail to extract. I sent it back to Ruger again. I talked to the technicians who examined it and they told me they fired 130 rounds of Aguila ammo through it with zero malfunctions. They advised that these pistols are ammo sensitive which I already knew. They said they would ship it back to me with 3 extra magazines, thinking that maybe some of my (already purchased) extra mags might be the problem. I haven't shot it for the 3rd time yet but I've already ordered some aftermarket parts that are supposed to fix the issues from Galloway Precision (hammer spring and extractor spring kit 27.00) and Mcarbo (stainless guide rod and recoil spring kit). There are numerous owners who have complained about this little gun and once they've added the parts I described, they've advised 100 percent reliability.
The issue I talked about with Ruger is - one shouldn't have to install aftermarket parts to make a 350.00 dollar gun function 100 percent. I'm going to test it again (without the added parts) but I assume it will malfunction so off to the gunsmith for install. When all is said and done, this has been the most disappointing firearm I've ever purchased. It may just guard the interior of my safe from now on.

Ruger has a great warranty. I had the same issues with one of my lcp 380s. It was made in the Carolinas. I sent it in, and they fixed the issue.

My Ruger 22lr behaves similarly. Discovered great variation in rounds when chambering them in my Ruger “single six.” Never a stoppage with rounds pre-screened for easy insertion into the revolver cylinder. Snug fitting rounds in the revolver cylinder will misfeed in the 22lr. That’s been my experience.

We have a Walther P22q that has become my wife's favorite gun, it runs very reliably. Thousands of rounds so far and minimal malfunctions when compared to the round count.

I had an Sig .22 Mosquito, it was a jam master, I took a dremel and ground the feed ramp a tiny bit and then polished it, then it shot perfectly, even with the cheap Remington golden buckets of bullets😅

I noticed a lip in front of the feedramp of the barrel. I dremeled it smooth and it runs fed punch great now... prior to that it ran velocitors flawless but not punch but now all good.

My first concealed carry handgun was and is a Kel Tec PF9. At the time I bought it, it was the smallest 9mm pistol on the market. It is a 6 plus 1 capacity and never failed to function well over the years. I'm not really a 9mm guy so a I don't carry it often now days. Others have higher capacity but I don't need large capacity with no intention to have a sustained battle.

Sometimes u need to pull the slide stop spring and adjust the pressure. I had a p220 that wouldn’t lock back so I softened it up now it locks back every mag. This ruger looks like it needs strengthening. He’s not showing the failure though so we don’t know

The SR 22 pistol I have eats everything without an issue.

First off; small .22 LR semi-autos often have feeding problems. But but the video, this is definitely ammo related.

Lcp2 is my best pocket pistol. Either you are not using lube on the slide, or you're using an ammo that wont rack the slide.

I have put hundreds of rounds through my Ruger LCPII in .380 without feeding problem, even using cheap Norma FMJ & defense ammo.
The accuracy sucks but pocket pistols are designed for close-up self-defense (

Try a lighter recoil spring. Plus on your first 3 mags, I could hear different reports, like some of your rounds were loaded hotter than others. For consistent hard hitting accuracy, I use Winchester. If I stepped up to running hot CCI rounds, I'd always have to adjust my zero. You could put a sharper edge on your extractor. Some newer ones hardly have a feed ramp at all. But if you play your video back; listen to the different sounds each bullet makes as it leaves the barrel. Sound sounded very muffled like a blank. God bless you.

I have many handguns, the bodyguard WAS one of them. Heavy trigger, low capacity, weighs more than better choices. Funny you like it. The LCP max is the best imo. Now, why oh why would you even consider a 22, let alone in a semi-auto. A total waste of time. You are going out of your way looking for an under powered, rim fired gun far more likely to offer you trouble. Even if it ran perfectly, the cartridge itself is less reliable. Unless you need one of every gun in your collection, just dump it. What's the point, you aren't recoil sensitive... so why?

Semiauto 22 handguns are picky about the ammo often. Try all sorts of ammo in various velocities. I suspect a higher velocity load just might be the charm. Of all the ammo types out there, 22LR is the most diverse in velocity. Also, like in rifles, each gun loves what it loves for ammo. Once you find what it loves, get a 1000 rounds or more and call it good.

Mine is like a fat kid in a candy store ! I find the trigger to be OUTSTANDING ! After cleaning it, I lubed the underside of the slide. I also worked the action a bit in-between range time. I haven't adjusted my sights any, but with my ole eyes it hits where I'm aiming. I'm gonna try an outdoor range next. Also, I'm gonna get me some more magazines and maybe a reloader cause loading is tough on my ole fingers.
