I've been reading through all my star wars omnis. Started with old republic, sith, empire, now I'm reading darth vader by soule. Im so glad for all these omnis
Vader by Soule is kinda hard to get, vol 2 of the hc is widely available but volume 1 isn’t. I ended up finding the omni on nick and dent in a German shop.
@@nothingisitchingme5874 nice! It was one of the first omnis I ever bought
I missed out on the old republic omnibus and I don't wanna spend 300 bucks on it now .. I'm hoping their will be a reprint
@@endc3043 I'm sure they will reprint it. It's one of the best star wars omnis
@@endc3043 it’s also the only one I’m missing 100% will get a reprint
I was hesitant on buying it but now I finally get to see the contents.
Standard edition cover for the win here!
Advance Happy Birthday buddy:)
I got into Star Wars Omnibuses after I purchased Dr. Aphra and been collecting them ever since. Thanks for the review.
Happy early bday dude! Thank you for sharing your passion of comics with us!!
Another one for the collection - can't wait to get
I ordered the DM cover because it has the look of a Star Wars movie poster. Excellent overview as always and I appreciate so much that you show where to place these books chronologically because I am a sucker for organizing things that way on my shelves 💙💙💙
The dm cover is fantastic. Really happy with that.
I wasn’t planning on getting this (at least not anytime soon) but that cover under the dust jacket alone might be enough to tempt me. That looks beautiful
It’s the Absolute Edition of Final Crisis that came with the 3D glasses.
This is the way!
We need a star wars Omni Reading order 2hixh includes where which movie needs to be seen to get best reading experience
There's a lot of extra baggage in these omnis that can drag, but as of now the most well done selection of really good complimentary stories are found in Empire Vol1. Amazing stories set right after the end of episode 3, a lot of great vader centric and surviving jedi stories. Darth Vader and the Lost Command was incredible.
Small correction - legends series is not just dark horse. All books and comics (except for 1 Darth Maul comic) during pre-Disney acquisition is Legends, including original Marvel years for example. The Maul son of Dathomir mentioned above was reprinted by marvel, even though was written before that time, and it considered canon
Agreed. Legends is all the world building that was earlier called the star wars expanded universe, meaning all books, games and comics etc. that was the official SW universe until Disney bought the rights and threw it all away. It is much bigger than Dark Horse.
Good job Omar
It is crazy that Marvel went to the trouble of mapping out the entire Legends timeline for the Epic Collections. I can't imagine what a nightmare that was.
Hope that the Star Wars ECs get reprinted soon
@maxmazzotti6651 Me too. I need 5 or 6 of them and the prices of them on EBay are just insane so a reprint is the only way I'll be able to get them.
I mean, you can find the entire timeline of the comics online...
Legends was a very, very meticulously crafted timeline. They are very clear about dating, which was so nice. The only real muddy spots are filoni's TCW which actively retconned the continuity and the Marvel run which is technically non-canon, but many authors still used it as a basis for other stories (lots of species snd events refrenced and characters pulled i.e. Lumyia)
Outside of that, you had a handful of timeline mistakes such as Maul Lockdown, but really not a lot. Its so impressive how well it was managed.
Although, Brian Wood's Star Wars was explicitly non-canon, as was stated by Brian Wood and the head of publishing for Dark Horse, so why its included here im not sure lol
Nice 😮
One big issue I have with the sequel trilogy is that all three films are so close together chronologically, that authors have basically no time to play with. We get to have stuff like this because there’s a nice three year gap between ANH and ESB.
I was looking for a starwars story that I read a long time ago and I saw that it is included here, the scene is Leia crashing and killing the empire pilot
Absolute Final Crisis includes the 3-D art (and comes with 3-D glasses).
Omar was born on pie day!!!
I really got to start picking these legends omnis up, only got the canon darth Vader omnis so far
If you're a fan of vader, snag Legends Omni Empire Vol1. Incredible selections in there.
Is everything in this omnibus also in the Epics?
What should I get first the new republic omnibus or the rebellion omnibus vol1 ?
Once again I flip my copy as i watch this video
Where do the three Star Wars the Original Marvel Years omnis go?
Can you do a star wars reading order??
Thanks for the review. This is a great read. Dark Horse SW was kind of hit and miss, but for the most part (1994 - 2008 or so) much better than Marvel SW.
I've got to stop watching these videos. I had no interest in collecting Star Wars comics but you might have me reconsidering. This looks great.
Which omnibus is better jason arrons or this rebellion omnibus
Hmmm that’s a tough one. For me it’s Aaron, mainly because of the art being a slight better.
While Im not a huge fan of the Rebellion era in the EU or Canon, I will be getting this cause of the Janek Sunber stories and introducing Able, it also contains some of the last Empire issues as well so yeah. Im just not a fan of the 2013 Star Wars series before the Disney Buyout, felt really generic. I will say this though the omnibus's order kinda annoy me as the New Republic omnibus vol 1 doesn't include the Boba Fett stories that were included in the Epic Collection vol 1 , I understand its for chronological order, but why have the Epics showcase some stories out of order in the first place, but then correct it in the Omnibus'?
New Republic was adjusted to have all the Rogue Squadron in Vol. 1 instead of splitting that series.
@@codysummers6842 That makes sense, but doesn't that mean that Boba Fett Twin Engines of Destruction is out of place chronologically in New Republic Omnibus vol 2?
The question is which eyeball the 3D content got downgraded to.🧐
Got to admit, I wasn't that interested in this one and now I am. Omar's uncanny salesmanship skills strike back...er, again. 😁🤖🚀🛸
I'm divided... I'm interested in basically everything with the Star Wars brand, but, now knowing that this is not canon it feels strange to read... 🤔 I haven't read anything Legends since Disney bought Star Wars.
Legends or EU content is fantastic. Most of it is golden. Vastly superior to Disney (DU) content
@@dillonspikings6753 I'm sorry, EU and DU stands for what? Extended Universe, Disney Universe?
@@CarlosDias-er6dd yes that’s correct
@@dillonspikings6753 ok, thanks man! As soon as I can, I'll give it a try!
To be honest there are several Canon comics like the Kanan comics that have been retconned by the shows, so just read what you enjoy!
I’m one those weirdos who has never watched any Star Wars stuff. Sorry! Good video regardless though :)
Wait, like none of it , brother?
@@NearMintCondition zilch! I know, I know
@@just23bulls Not judging. :)
I don't know whether to shake my head or be oddly envious. 😁
@@Krypton_Ken hahaha I’ll get around to it eventually, so hopefully it’s the latter!
Wait, what? The Death Star blows up at the end of the first movie? Damn you for spoiling it, Omar! (I'm JK, I'm a huge SW fan.)
I'm just curious, do you have the Original Marvel Years Omnis? I couldn't see them on the shelves.
I'm mad as well for knowing about the Death Star!!
Joking 😅
(but if you think about, for those who haven't watched the first movie, they don't know what that means...) 😅
@@CarlosDias-er6dd True, and it wouldn't be the last time that happened in the Star Wars series, lol.
@@hamzadawud true as well! 🤣
Context is king
@@davidgraham8299 no doubt!
😼
Let’s face it, Dark Horse did Star Wars better than Marvel.
I hear ya, I don't dislike the new Marvel stuff (what I've read anyway) but I really loved the Dark Horse comics.
So far for me Old Republic is the best Star Wars omnibus I’ve read. My childhood will always be Dark Empire so I look forward to that. So In order because I’m new to 90% DH Star Wars: Old Republic, Empire, Vader by Gillen, New Republic 1, Star Wars by Aaron, New Rebellion 1, Doctor Aphra 1, Vader by Soule, War of the Bounty Hunters and then Rise of the Sith. I guess original marvel years would be after rise of the sith for me.
@@NearMintCondition I need to read way more of the Original Marvel Years. Oddly enough I wasn't a huge Star Wars fan as a kid so I hardly ever picked them up. The creators are industry legends though so I'd probably enjoy the heck out of them these days. Especially Al Williamson, Flash Gordon and Star Wars are a pretty great resume for an artist.
I think Marvel is the more consistent one but Dark Horse tends to have better highs but also lower lows.
You spoiled Star Wars for me. Unsubscribing
😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m sure Omar will be just fine😂😂😂
What? How?
Aw man, did you have to spoil the overview like that?! I'm blocking you!
Much better than what Disney is doing. Member when people had interest in SW? I member.
Some of the art in the omnibus does not look good.
