Just started as a service tech, and was seeing very similar devices for hundreds on Amazon. This is exactly what I need for transmission and differential services. They only come in about once a week, so this is perfect. If it breaks, I can get 15 more for the price of one that will also probably break. Thank you!
Those have water pressure separation systems. Don't use this as a tech in a shop. Not a good idea
@@scraplifetrashtocash4551 I will look into it. Could you go more in depth?
@@MECHc3ify because it's a ghetto solution, the gaskets will tear down, doesn´t look professional, you are starting and it is not like you are super busy, as already said this will add moisture frome the ambient and when you ruin the customers transmition by adding water your days like service tech will be over. Got the point or want me to continue?
@betovallejo OH man. 😂😂 yah I dont use these anymore because it's not fast enough. I use one that's designed for transmission service but is basically the same thing just beefed up. Runs off of shop air (with no air dryer.. oh boy...) or you can pump it manually. How else are you going to fill a side will? Not with a funnel 🤭 I've done dozens by this point, including my own, a 300k mi Camry, never had an issue. I've never had a single come back let alone someone's transmission being completely destroyed from water 😂😂😂 You would have to really, intentionally put some water in there. You do realize that transmissions are vented & accumulate condensation moisture inside them just like engines do? Except when everything gets up to temp, any water in there will just boil out & come out the vent tube, as it's made to do. If someone doesn't like how things actually happen in the real world, they can save themselves the money and do it "the right way" in their own garage. Most people wouldn't even know where to begin let alone do it right.
"My days as a service tech are over" If thats the case, better fire the whole line.😂😂😂😂 I have seen people do alot worse than mess up a transmission & still have job. Good service managers understand shit happens, no one perfect.
You are 100% corect. @@MECHc3ify I am doing this for 29.5 years old 1994 Pontiac grand am at 50,000 km or 4 years interval. Since I but the car in 1994. Exactly the same procedure and never had a problem with my car. So…..
Finished a transmission flush on my 2nd gen Tacoma. This made filling the transmission effortless. Thank you sir!
seems prices have doubled since this video for various 1 gal sprayers, but still much much cheaper than the filling hassle is worth with other methods. Great video!!
Yes, I paid $10 on sale in Canada.
The Walmart 1 gallon sprayer is now a bit over $6, but works just as well. I just unscrewed the end tip and pulled the white nozzle out of the end and used as is. Worked perfectly. Thank you.
Would never have thought of such a genius solution. Many thanks for sharing !
10 min talking about the one he hates, the cars he has, the fluid he like and 1 min showing the actual pump LOL
LMAO
Man so happy with himself he speaks 10 minutes before getting to the point. LOL.
Exactly! Loves the sound of his own voice!
His breathing was getting on my nerves. Sounds like he ran 10 miles in those 10 minutes.
If you don't like it, you don't have to watch it. The man puts out whatever content he wants on his own channel. All you guys just sit around whining and complaining while producing nothing useful.
Great idea. I just snipped the tip off the plastic wand and inserted a thick enough wire inside to keep it from closing under heat. Hit it with a blowtorch and molded it into a U-Shape. For an 8L90 or filler on top it worked great. Hooked it in the port hands free, locked the trigger and pumped away. Nice work.
Worked for transmission fluid change. Awesome. Did not make a mess like last time.
Good Job I Made One Years Ago Like That One Gallon For Bleeding Brakes. And I Did Put The Tire Valve In The Side. Fantastic And Cheap
I love your enthusiasm and the way you think. Really appreciate you and the idea!
Thanks again, I have been using a finger pump with a rurber hose. Very good for differentials also.
Man, this is genius. I'm very anal about keeping my vehicle properly maintained and this made my life so much easier. Thanks!
I did this and it works great!! Thanks man
THANK YOU!! AWESOME SIMPLE IDEA!! Got two of them one for the differential oil and one for the transmission fluid!! Worked great! Cleaner than hoses and funnels, etc, MESSY!
Great video, that pump worked great.. and it was cheap. Thanks for sharing bud!!
Simple, cheap, and durable. I'm in. You can't beat that for $5.00 👍
You are a genius and the lifesaver
This is genius! Thanks for sharing.
The new ones come with a bleeder and are now $7.82 , still a great deal
Thank you very much for making this video, I really like videos like this that are helpful and save me money . youtubers like you are what make youtube great
I have this 1 galon pump, the hand pump failed on me, and I did a valv stem like you showed in the video. Never been happier , haha
Thank you so much for this DIY video. Saved me a lot of money.
That's pretty cool I'm making that for my lawn mowers oil
All the high dollar ones and that works just as good! Kudos!!
Such a practical inexpensive method. Thanks for the insights
Thank you bro. For this idea. It was the best
I was just about to spend $80 on Amazon and thought to myself why not use a regular herbicide sprayer, watched your vid. and now I’m buying a $5 one, thankyou sir.
Thanks for the reply... I picked up a new transfer pump from Auto Zone about $10.00 plus tax. It had heavy clear tubing with a lock mechanism like the newer plumbing quick connects. I Looked around my garage and found an old sink with a small filtered water spout. It had the perfect angle and size for the fill. I modified the hose with a small - thicker piece of hose from a washer and used a couple tie wraps so it wouldn't slip out. I drilled a hole in the top of one of the quart caps using a 5/8" wood drill bit. From my experience when drilling out plastic, put your drill in reverse use a wood bit with the point in the center. I put a 3/8" grommet in the cap on the suction end of the clear tube in case the bottle tipped. I used one of the A.T.F. fluid quart cap to be used and cleaned everything well. Placed another grommet and tie wrap for length to the bottom of quart bottle. I reused this cap on all quarts. This tool will be used only for Transmission fluid in the future. No mess and worked like a charm. Wish I knew how to upload a photo but the B.M.W. ("Bring Me Work") is keeping me busy. Good luck to you and hope this may help you or someone in the future.
Yeah that's really handy for your differentials as well they got the gear lube in the bags and stuff like that you can fill them back up and stuff but it's still kind of messy I think I like your idea a lot better
Thank you, I was about to go to O'Reilly's and pay the same $12 that you mentioned for one of those crappy pumps. Thank you.
Good clear thinking. Well done!
Great idea, will work great for my F150
This video is better than a sleeping pill. Gone With The Wind had a shorter run time.
Thank you for the comment.
I have that same aggravating cheap pump. It leaks all over you even if you get the bottle of transmission fluid to stand up. It is junk. Thanks, I will go try the pump you show sounds great.
Thanks man life saver great video.....
Great product review I kept waiting to see you use it... $5 at walmart! We get it
Great video, excellent idea… thank you
Nice pump solution. Not sure if you watch Project Farm but he tested a whole bunch of oils under every condition you can think of and Pennzoil ultra platinum came out on top and it wasn't even close
Thank you for your video Love the Idea
Max fife is good oil ,resolved the problem in May vehicle .
The Schrader valve idea works Ive done it.
Thank you for this video! There are a few versions of this online but yours is the best. Also, I think you sent so many people to Walmart that their pricing algorithm jacked the price. I found one at Home Depot for $10 so that is still a great deal.
You are a genius my friend!!!!!!!!!!
Well done!
GREAT THINKING SIR 👍🏾 I got to get me one
This is a first rate hack! Kudos, brother.
Great work!!
Walmart, as usual, has changed brands and the price in 2021 is now almost $8. I will certainly get a couple, too. I will probably use one to put antifreeze in my 1991 motor home as the radiator neck only has about two inches clearance above it. I already have a pump on a 5 gallon bucket of diff gear oil for my Dodge 4 x 4. You could use this to put it down the dipstick tube as it would be less messy than a funnel.
Thanks for the info.
Actually, a quart of the Toyota ATF WS is $10 at the dealer but good idea using that pumper...I may have to try that! (Could be useful for differentials, especially the front one that's hard to get to.)
Fantastic!
A real nice video of using one's mind instead of braun. Good job fella too. VF
Great idea.
Also, I use Wolfs Head all synthetic universal ATF fluid. Good for all manufactures known requirements. With killer price too. How about you make a video for oil change from the top of the engine??? Thanks, VF
I am doing this for 29.5 years old 1994 Pontiac grand am at 50,000 km or 4 years interval. Since I but the car in 1994. Exactly the same procedure and never had a problem with my car. So…..One tip for everybody, remove the end from the pipe that is inside the sprayer.
For the money, this is pretty much the best solution for dealing with a situation that shouldn't exist. That situation being OEMs leaving the dipstick/fill tube off of auto transmissions for the last 20 years or so in the name of this "sealed for life" BS they've gotten away with.
Another of many reason’s I insist on manual trans. - choices have become few
Can you use the same sprayer to pump red line 75/85 synthetic weight rear end differential fluid?
I got these pumps on clearence for $1 in Feb or march 2019 at Wallyworld.
Those cheap garden pumps work well i have been using them on Toyota. I have been buying a lot of Toyota WS fluid. i need to consider what you say about Max life. I agree those orange hand pumps are no good.
Good tip!
Thank you sir!
Where do you find the metal tube that you replaced it with?
This is a great idea! My commuter car has 250,000 miles on it. It runs good but burns about 1 quart of oil every two weeks. I am going to make one of these and put motor oil in it to keep from spilling oil when topping it off weekly. I wonder how it would perform using the heavier 90 weight oil that goes in a differential. This would make that task MUCH easier to refill the diff.
It would be really slow with 90 weight.
Thank you for your information about that five-dollar pump... I would have simply bought a length of flexible hose and cut off the stiff hose and added my flexible hose... Tie twine around that bottle of oil anchoring it to anything heavy so it is difficult to tip over... Then use the Chinese pump... Most of the things I buy, I end up making adjustments to...
He could have used different hose you can get by the foot at any good hardware store or lowes
Where did you buy the 5/16" diameter aluminum tubing, how long is it, and how did you bend it without crimping it shut ?
I bought the tube on eBay years ago for a project and still had some left over. It is about 10in long and I bent it with a tubing bender I bought at harbor freight.
Excellent....now the video even more people want is how to create an inexpensive suction pump to extract engine oil, etc. out of engines. Most of the quality fluid suction pumps that drain into a container are close to $100. Shouldn't be that pricey, just reverse the process. Just an idea for the project I'm working on now.
A little bit of sense will save a whole lot of cents. Good video
Great idea, thanks. Would it work to pump heavy gear lube into my manual transmission?
I think gear lube would be too thick.
Good video - Where did you buy the 90 degree hose or did you make it. I have to do my BMW and has very little room to fill as you know. I was actually thinking to do it with the garden sprayer myself but would need a clean or new one not to mix the oil with anything else. I have the red pump that you have and don't like very much. Well I spilled about a quart of 75W90 all over my clothes and on the floor because one end popped out. I have my parts on order, mean while I need to get ready for this gig. Thanks-
Glad you enjoyed the video. I made the 90 from a piece of 5/16 aluminum tube I had but you could probably use the section of plastic that comes with the sprayer, just cut off the nozzle off and use a heatgun and see if you can bend it without kinking it to much. It seems more and more cars are being filled this way so I finally had to do something to make the job much easier.
Very good, thanks. I think the dislikes are because you beat around the bush too long and not cut to the chase quickly. 👍

Great idea. Though I was hoping you were going to use it to suck the fluid up out of the dipstick tube as an extractor.
Super helpful
Man I will never use that pos hand pump again!!! I was wearing tyranny fluid, last night! Love the bug sprayer gig!!
I still use the bug sprayer pump and it is a life saver.
No doubt this is an great solutiion. If you are in a pinch, and do not have a pump sprayer available, one can use an air compressor with very LOW PRESSURE (like 5lbs) by drilling 2 holes into the top of a container. Drill one hole so you can fit your air nozzle over the top forming a seal. and drill a second hole in the cap for your feed tubing. Assemble an apply VERY LOW AIR PRESSURED. The air will force the liquid throught the tubing. This worked great when I changed my diff fluid.. Your set up is better you only need one hand to transfer the fluid.
I have seen someone do that on youtube and it is a great idea.
What are you using for your metal hose? Is it brake line tubing? If so did you have to flare the one end?
It is 5/16 thin wall aluminum tubing. No flaring required. it connects with a compression fitting.
Toyota transmission burns up after 30k? My 2011 Toyota Highlander nearing 150,000 has over 75,000 between changes and it runs great. I was warned not to give full fluid change because it might cause trans to slip. Some Toyotas trams are now sealed, no dip stick.
Think this would be able to move gear oil through it? I got 2 diffs and a tcase i need to do soon.
I haven't tried it but I think gear oil would be to thick, if it did push it through it would probably be really slow.
where did u get the pump for $5.00? and where di u get the aluminum pipe?
Thank you sir
Where did you get the aluminum tube and do you recommend a certain tube bender ? Thanks for the video.
The tube I got off eBay. The tube that worked for this particular sprayer was 5/16 in diameter.

Thank You awesome video but the sprayers aren't $%.00 any more or I clicked on the wrong item?
Wow your right the sprayer is $19.00 now. I should have bought 4 when I had the chance.
Good idea
I have that but how to clean it after the use. Next ATF change is after 30 K tell then is it ok to keep bottle like this or wash it with soap as I am afraid the ATF will destroy the valve ( on and off)
I have kept at in it for about 3 years now with now problem.
Thanks for the video! What do you use to extract the fluid from the fill tube? Thanks!
you remove the entire drain plug..
Nice video. A year later this pump cost $21! holy moly .. I have 120k miles gx470 and according to service history, this never been changed. Would you recommend flush or just drain and fill?
Y G Drain and fill is all I would do.
@@737mechanic Thanks for the reply. And include filter change?
I'm wondering about the flow rate.
To flush my automatic transmission, it would have to pass at least 14 quarts of transmission fluid, which is similar in viscosity to the oil you use here. How long do you think it would take to do that with this system ? How a bout 3.5 quarts of 90w gear oil ?
90w might be kinda slow so if you use this for something that thick I would do it on a hot day so it will be as thin as possible.
Pick up the larger 2-gallon sprayer, add in the shraeder valve, hook up the air compressor with a pressure regulator set to like 20 pounds (will need locking chuck), should work. You'll still need to stop to refill once, but better than stopping 4 times with the smaller sprayer.
Hoping you read this! My 2007 328i has a strange problem. The left rear door will lock during driving, but when I stop and lock all doors with key fob the left rear door unlocks! It has a new actuator.
What was the actuator replaced for? If it started doing that after it was replaced I would have it warrantied out and try another one.
Curious, How do you drain your Transmission Oils, using the pan or pump, suck it out? Finding a good pump, is a bigger problem, IMO! Thx for the Video!
This is what I use. I did a video on it. Works like a champ. I couldn't figure out a DIY solution. amzn.to/3n1bOAU
czcams.com/video/DfQL50lMqUE/video.html
transmission fluid is one of the thinnest fluids...have you tried heavy gear oil? 90w -140w transfer case oil if the pump will work.
I have not tried it but anything much thicker than ATF it will probably struggle with.
@@737mechanic
just built one with- vacuum hose, plastic bottle, air compressor blow gun....make air compressor to do the pumping 👍.....thanks for making video...helps get creative juices flowing
Warning: If you are using something like this to fill your differential or transfer case with pure gear oil, just be aware that it could be contaminated with the silicone lube these cheap sprayers have. What this: czcams.com/video/U9KzkyslbSE/video.html
In all honestly, I still think the best way is to use a long tube and a funnel, attached to some sort of stand, and just pour it in and let gravity do the rest, like this: czcams.com/video/5JHgark4JNg/video.html
private guy.....OCD is the name for your condition!!!
A couple of questions:1. Did the WalMart pump have a filter in it? I found a relatively inexpensive pump sprayer made by Chapin that looks like it would work(less expensive than one that specifically sprays bleach). 2. How did you attach the 5/16" aluminum tube? Is it merely inserted into the pump? Thanks.
Mine did not have a filter, if it did I would have removed it for less restriction. The 5/16 tube is inserted in place of the original plastic tube which is held in place by a compression fitting. In other words, when you loosen the plastic compression nut you can pull the plastic tube out and put the aluminum tube in and tighten the plastic compression nut down. Not sure if all sprayers are like that.
Appreciate your reply. Love this idea.
I do the same thing for transmission fluid and transfer case fluid. This same transmission fluid transfer kits cost over $165, can you believe it? And this sprayer bottle works exactly same way. Nothing more nothing less. How they ripping ppl off unbelievable. Maybe those bottles are lil bit better quality but not worth ($165)
Wow amazing I used to pump my shitty one that I paid $20 for 200 times
you think i could use thia fluid in my 2007 mini cooper?
Yes I think so.
But i dont get it. The original plastic has a o ring. So when you put on this 5/16 steel tubing. You just put it straight in? Wouldn't there be a tiny leak?
Put the o-ring on and when you tighten the nut it squeezes the o-ring tight around the tube.
Is the Valvoline MaxLife ATF is substituting for Dexron-III? It’s for my 2000 Toyota Camry LE V6 and it’s close to 60K miles. Thanks
Yes it is compatble with Dexron II, Dextron III, Dexron VI.
737mechanic cool. Thanks
Flo Master apparently doesn’t make a 1 gallon sprayer anymore. Would a bleach sprayer be similar to that?
shinerlightman I would think so.
Does it have enough pressure to fill a transmission from below like for
a Mercedes Benz?
Yes
Could this work for transfer case and rear diff 75w-90?
More than likely it would be too thick to flow quickly enough.
What is the metal tip, the garden hose sprayers are usually plastic?
It is 5/16 aluminum tube I ordered from ebay. Fit perfectly.
does the silver tube come with the garden sprayer or u bought it separately? plz let me know
I bought it off ebay it is 5/16 thinwall aluminum tube.
