Word of advise from an old Alaskan who has dozens of skulls mounted above his cabins door. Completely soak the skull with Polyurethane. NOT LAQUER OR VARNISH. Apply several coats until the bone will not soak up anymore & is completely sealed. I mount mine on plaques with the jaws open to greet guests when they arrive & theyre mounted up high enough that no other bear or critter can get to em. Mine have lasted unharmed for decades. Did have to drill small holes sideways through the rear skull knobs & in the lower jawbone to pass the mounting wires through the bones into the plaque..they look AWESOME & NO mold or bugs or sundamage or other critters have ever damaged em. I run them in rows. Grizzly skulls across the top, blackie skulls below them, Wolf skulls below them & Wolverines on the bottom. Course if your hanging them inside non of that will be a problem. Mine are outside under the roofs overhang.

I think I would have gotten me a bear skin rug with the head still on it for my first one
