    I did this years ago. I took a look at it and thought I went way overboard pruning. Next few months, the tree responded well and produced a bounty of fruit. Be sure to trim the tree so that you can reach it easy too

    Thank you! This is very helpful!!!! IT seems hard to do and scary at first but the trees actually appreciate it and respond very well

    Thanks for the tips on pruning. My peach and cherry trees are salvageable, but my 2 apples and 1 plum tree are a tangled mess.

      Good luck to you, any pruning attention you can give those overgrown trees will benefit them!

    The larger the limbs on a peach tree, the harder it is to get them to heal and not become diseased

    What if your tree has already blossomed? Can you still prune then? Or should you wait

    • @GrowingwithStarkBros
      @GrowingwithStarkBros  Před rokem +2

      Yes, even though we suggest pruning when your tree is dormant, you can still prune if you're a little late and your tree has bloomed.

    We just transplanted our trees from the nursery last summer, are they ready to be pruned or should we wait for them to be more established?

    • @GrowingwithStarkBros

      It depends on the growth of your trees and if you feel you need to address the structure and airflow for your trees.

    The top half of my peach tree trunk had nothing branching off so I just pruned it off, should I have not done that and should I treat the trunk with anything. I had this happen with an apple tree last year and it did just fine. It's only a couple years old.

    • @GrowingwithStarkBros
      @GrowingwithStarkBros  Před rokem +2

      It should be fine! You can apply a pruning seal if you are worried about the trunk getting infected.

    Can I use an open in Center for my Apple tree?

    • @GrowingwithStarkBros
      @GrowingwithStarkBros  Před rokem

      We recommend pruning apple trees with a central leader. The central leader, or main leader, structure is recommended for fruit trees whose branches naturally have more of an upright growth habit, rather than a spreading nature.

    Is it too late to prune now?

    • @GrowingwithStarkBros
      @GrowingwithStarkBros  Před rokem

      Hi Kathy, it is best to prune trees while dormant, but if your tree really needs some attention, you can do a mild pruning after your tree has bloomed.
