I am absolutely gutted to hear of Moses' passing. Getting to meet him in person was one of the absolute highlights of my language learning career; he was one of the first online CZcams polyglots I ever met, and he absolutely blew me away with his true passion for learning languages, and his whimsical idea to record our level up video, which to this day is one of the best pieces of content I've ever been able to produce, entirely thanks to him being the star of it.
He will forever be an icon and his influence in inspiring language learners will live on. But he himself will be truly missed 😢

I JUST found out he passed TODAY, this is beyond devastating, I thought he just stopped making CZcams videos and went on to do something else with his language skills but I didn’t know he died at all along the way, that’s completely mind blowing as I just thought of his videos up today but never thought to look at any of his comment section of his newer videos and ONLY found out on his Facebook page of people saying RIP to him that he passed away 2 years ago. I’m SOOOO late to find out about this but it’s super heartbreaking. I really wished he was still alive and hope his family is doing the best! RIP Laoshu! The master of languages!

From the inception of my channel you were a person I looked up to greatly. It was special to have someone that looked similar to me showcase their love for and ability with languages. It instilled a certain type of confidence, along the lines of "I can do this too." I really would have loved to speak with you or even collaborate sometime when my health was back to normal.
You directly inspired numerous videos that I and many other creators have done. You were able to reach millions of people around the world and inspire them to learn languages. That's something that very few can say. You made a real impact on the world. You were and remain a legend.

This one still hurts. Absolutely devastating. After a year, I still just cannot get over it. These videos were so much more than what they seemed. You inspired me to keep up with my learning of other languages and now I'm consistently reading, speaking, writing, and even typing in other languages on the regular. Crazy how we can lose someone like this, that brought so much to so many. There will never be another. It saddens me everytime I realize there won't be new video to anticipate. It's always sad to see someone go that inspires you. Laoshu inspired me a lot. I know my coping mechanism is usually to find someone that can continue a legacy. You can search Frankie Light on youtube; he doesn't know as many languages as Laoshu, but his approach is somewhat similar to Laoshu trying to mend cultures together.
His birthday is on my sisters birthday actually four days after mine. I miss him

I've been following Moses for I think at this point close to a decade, back when his videos were just him and his white board. His passion for languages was inspiring, and his level up videos were the reason I started to push myself more to practice languages with people like he does.
One of the things I picked up on often when watching his level up videos over the years was whenever he was asked if he had visited the country of the language he was speaking, he'd more often than not say "no, but I plan to". It's an absolute massive shame that he was not able to realise those plans and go through with them whilst he had the chance. RIP Moses.

laoshu was an extremely important figure on the internet man. especially nowadays with rising race tensions, he always was able to extend a bridge into anyone's heart no matter what skin color they had or where they were originally from. laoshu didn't specialize in speaking in languages -- he specialized in speaking to people. he will be missed.

I remember always looking forward to your new posts. I’d work a bullshit closing job at Wendy’s, come home and decompress just watching whatever you uploaded. The sheer joy on peoples faces when you speak their native language was contagious. There are only a handful of legimate language youtubers out there who can actually converse beyond pleasantries, and I think you not only pioneered this part of youtube but also stood at the very top. I know I'm a bit late and this comment will probably be lost, but laoshu helped me communicate with my grandma. If it wasn't for his videos, I wouldn't have ever decided to actually learn her language. It's so strange that my heart hurts so much for someone I've never even met. Thank you for everything Laoshu. I hope you are learning forgotten languages wherever you are.

I just found his page today and I'm reading that he passed away. I've known of him for less than an hour yet I'm so heartbroken. He seemed like such a kind and down to earth man. Sending my condolences to his family, although it's very very late. It's clear that he was loved and will be missed. 🥺🥺

Wow a public figures death has never affected me like this one did. I'll never forget the endless nights of smiles and laughter he gave me while binge watching his videos all night. His videos got me through some of my toughest times a few years ago. I will forever be greatful to Moses. RIP 😢❤️

OMG I am just now discovering this!!! I’ve been watching his videos nonstop for a week! I discovered him a few years back and was absolutely blown away!! He was truly a gifted, talented and special human being. His ability to connect with everyone was astounding. This truly tragic. So sad to hear and discover this.

@@adlifiruz808 my best advice would be to get some textbooks study the basics, listen to the language a lot! even if you dont understand it just get used to all the sounds, and most importantly, speak with people in that language!! even if you can only speak for 10 seconds just get used to using it !! wish i took the last advice i just gave alot more serious when i started learning japanese! speaking and listening alot will go a long way! good luck
As a Vietnamese person, it's good to see people are learning Vietnamese. It makes me and people in my country feel really special. Most people know our country because of Vietnam's wars, but nowsaday, in Vietnam, there is no more wars. People live in peace.
