I’m 66, figure it’s the last chance for me to scratch this off my bucket list. Had some camping gear, purchased a few things I needed and driving from Florida to Texas to see the eclipse. Already booked and paid for a site, can’t wait to go.

Even though the youngest children in my family are far beyond fairytale truths and being older now, are of a different opinion, we all still rejoice in seeing Santa's sleigh coursing across the night sky on Christmas Eve. For a magical moment, we let go and marvel in the memories.
The most powerful experience was about a decade ago when we all skipped down to the lower field at home which was dusted with fresh snow a~sparkling in the moonlight to boot.
"Look, look you two, up there, d'you see the shiny thing moving towards us?"
"Where? Wh... Oh yes. Wow! Yes. Is it Father Christmas and Rudolph daddy? Is it?"
      What do you think?
Yeeaaahhhh! I can see Father Christmas, I can see Father Christmas.
If I only remember one moment in the supposed life flashing before you film just before you pass away experience, I shall be overjoyed if I am blessed with a replay of this one.

If you have little people in your family, force yourself to look up on the internet which way to look up in the Christmas Eve night sky to spot Father Christmas speeding towards you from which horizon. Invite them outside and let their little rosey cheeks turn to you in awe with _that_ question on their beaming lips.

Since moving to southern New Mexico, this will be the fourth eclipse I can watch: 2012, 2017, 2023, and now 2024. I was outside knitting a shawl when the last eclipse started. Surrounded by 100+ year old pecan trees, there were gazillions of crescent images coming through the leaves onto the ground and walls. I wondered if the eyelets (holes) in the shawl would give me images as well. *YES!!!* *Tons of dime sized crescents!* This is by far the geekiest thing I've ever experienced. Even NASA projects I worked on at Boeing can't surpass what "two sticks and string" can do. Now I'm looking forward to April with great anticipation. 🧶

A clarification on what an annular eclipse is, more specifically it is also known as "the ring of fire". Technically, an annular eclipse is a "partial eclipse" however, it does not look anything like a regular partial eclipse where the shape resembles more like a "packman" shape to a crescent shape than a thin circular ring which is the definitive characteristic shape of an annular eclipse.

I'm praying for good weather. I've planned a trip with my sister's family to go up to Northern OH, which is about 6 hours from us, and the closest in terms of driving. I've never seen one before but have heard that it can be a transformative experience. The next one in the US won't be until the 2040s, so the likihood of my seeing another anytime soon is pretty low, although if this one is as transformative as I hear, I may become one of those people who travel around the world just to watch the next total eclipse, lol!

Einstein had to chase eclipses all over the world trying to prove his theory. I wish I had the ability to do that but I do hope to be around to see the next one here in the 2040's. I got to see a total when I was a kid. Too young for it to be very transformative but it getting dark in the middle of a sunny day is quite memorable.

3:30 I'm excited to be in the path of Totality however this stretch of the year our Lake Erie Snow Machine (which we're in deficits of feet, probably not climate change related) is also a lake effect cloud maker (which we can blame Canada for), and April is so variable I'll either have a perfect view in my backyard or I may have to drive 3 hours to other side of my state for an improved view, hopefully not having to cross the border in to Indiana.

2:08 there is something special about an eclipse on earth. That’s because no other cosmic bodies are as perfectly aligned & designed to function in the way ours do.
Exactly 108 lunar diameters can fit between the surface of the earth and the moon. Exactly 108 solar diameters can fit between the surface of earth and the sun. Lastly, exactly 108 earth diameters fit across the diameter of the sun.
    Someone built the moon.
