In Jujutsu Kaisen the Gojo clan has a long history that goes back over a thousand years, but despite that Satoru Gojo is the only one who gets any screentime. Because of this it’s easy to forget that the rest of his family even exists, which is why today, I’ll be explaining literally everything there is to know about them.
Alright so starting off 1000 years ago, the origin of Gojo’s clan can be traced back to a guy called Michizane Sugawara. According to Panda, Michizane was a big-shot jujutsu sorcerer during the Heian era, which is the golden age where sorcerers and curses were stronger than at any other point in history. To be a big-shot in those days means that Michizane must’ve been unbelievably powerful and in JJK volume 0, we got the reveal that both Gojo’s family and Yuta’s family are his descendants. This helps to explain why they each have nearly unlimited amounts of cursed energy, since their ancestor is legit one of the best sorcerers of all time. What makes this even crazier that Michizane Suguwara was a real person who actually existed, and the story of his death ties in nicely to Jujutsu Kaisen. Born in the year 845, Michizane was recognised early on as a child genius who could read and write classical poetry. By his mid-20s he easily passed the exams to become a government official, where he rose through the ranks way faster than a normal person would. Thanks to his many talents he earned the respect of Japan’s Emperor Uda, who rapidly promoted Michizane into important jobs such as ambassador to China. However, many of the other nobles felt threatened by his success and so in the 10th century they falsely accused him of treason. By this point Emperor Uda had retired and was replaced by his son who was more than willing to banish Michizane from the capital. Over the next two years Michizane was put through hell before dying in the year 903 and after his death that strange things started happening. For example, one of the nobles who’d falsely accused him was struck by lightning and killed, while another suddenly died of illness. On top of that, the politician who replaced Michizane passed away after falling in a swamp and the emperor who banished him lost his son and grandson within a short period of time. In fact on historical records, the cause of death for the emperors son was implied to be the “curse of Michizane”, as they believed his vengeful spirit was behind all the chaos.
This is what brings us back to JJK, where we know that humans can turn into curses after death depending on the circumstances. In Michizane’s case he had unfinished business with the nobles who framed him and since he wasn’t killed with cursed energy, his soul was able to return as a special grade vengeful spirit. In this form he became feared for causing natural disasters like floods and earthquakes, but his most well-known attack was lightning. On more than one occasion lightning struck different people who’d betrayed him and for that reason it’s my personal theory, that when Michizane was alive he had fully mastered the Limitless cursed technique. Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen implied that lightning can be a natural byproduct of Hollow Purple, and so if a sorcerer is skilled enough, they might be able to harness that lightning as an extension technique. An extension technique is when someone creatively uses their technique in a way that deviates from its normal purpose, with an example being how Megumi created flying toads by fusing two of his Shikigami together. Given that Michizane is a legendary sorcerer with 30 years more experience that Gojo currently has, I’d say that there’s a decent chance that Lightning could be one of many extension techniques, that he derived from the Limitless. If this theory is correct it would also mean he had the six eyes, which is a quirk that enables you to see cursed energy on a microscopic level. Throughout history only sorcerers from Gojo’s bloodline have had this mutation and according to the author, the six eyes is essential for using Limitless. Therefore as Gojo’s most famous and possibly most powerful ancestor, there’s absolutely no reason why Michizane couldn’t have had the same cursed technique and if he did then by default he would’ve had the six eyes as well.

I personally believe Kashimo to also be a descendant of Michizane, it make's sense with his lightning abilities matching up with Michizane's and it also helps that Kashimo is said to be extremely strong being the strongest sorcerer of the Edo period I believe. I also think he has some resemblance to Gojo.

I always tought that gojo being alone to represent the gojo clan was weird . Its clearly implied that gojo always felt alone and hate the jujutsu world gojo clan was probably like the zenin this why he was so serious when he said to megumi that tsumiki would never be happy with the Zenin clan. Gojo stated so strong that if he wanted he coulve kill every human on earth . Tbh it wouldt suprise me if satoru has killed every gojo clan member like maki did but on his side he hated his clan bc gojo through the 6th eye always had the ability to see the true intent of those who interact with him so since his birth he saw that his clan was obsessed with his stregth and wanted to use him . He could never trust anybody since his birth so like maki but at the opposite side he hated how he was treated by the other . A younger version of gojo clearly had the mental instabilty to go on rampage and kill everyone .
Well gojo is the head of the clan and he’s wrote notes to the gojo clan in one chapter i believe so it’s most likely nowhere near as bad as the zenin clan plus they’re probably similar to Saturo’s personality to nuture someone like him and most likely pretty hidden away because they’re that important pretty famous and one of the most powerful clans that’s why I think the colors of the clans is so interesting because the zenin dark and dakness the zenin have follows them even in traits most of there hair is black and technique is dark the gojo clan is like the opposite
Gojo can’t see the intent of others around him. His eyes grant him ability to see CE on a deeper level than others but they don’t make him psychic or clairvoyant

This is a stretch, but considering that Michizane sugawara had lightning related abilities, couldn’t there be a possibility that kashimo would therefore be distantly related to Gojo and yuta being an descendant of sugawara’s? He does have a large quantity of cursed energy, unrivalled in his era and has a technique that is alleged to be able to kill sukuna.

If Gege decides that Michizane didn't have the six eyes + limitless combo and Gojo was the first to have it or Gojo was the first to push both to their limit. Gege is just giving himself more reasons to why he hates/dislikes Gojo.
Gojo was not the first six eyes + limitless user. Kenjaku killed the previous people born with the combo as babies.

I think the limitless should be possible to use without the six eyes, but not nearly to the same degree. Like no red, purple, or teleportation and only using blue and infinity in short bursts.
Don't forget, they are only talking about the totality of the golden age beings. Overall. Not individually. So those characters dont necessarily have to be stronger than some of the cast we know in the modern day. If that makes sense.
Im pretty Sure kenjaku said that he will bring the golden age anew with the curling game, sukunas fully realized Incarnation, gojos birth tipping the World Balance of Power and we See most if not every modern sorcerer being able to defeat sorcerers of the old age in the curling games.
Where'd you get this info from? There's literally zilch, nothing on the Gojo clan at all in the manga...nor have I heard anything come out in interviews about it. The clan definitely needs to be explored, and so does the Inumaki clan (who are outlaws the author said in an interview?!?!?). That shit is wildddd and we must know more

in other media, it's stated its possible for others to have limitless, and even non-gojo clan related sorcerers, but to full utilize it you need the six eyes.

You can use the limitless without the six eyes but not in the way satoru does since it Will consume a ton of cursed energy from the user without the aid of the six eyes and yes while it has been stated that there are other users of the limitless they have to be from the gojo clan as gege called it the gojo clan technique in the data book

I do not think michizane had the six eyes or limitless as i think those techniques started to appear after long time from the gojo clan first appearence and this clan started to appear in the heian era and since they are michizane decendants he himself have to be from a time even before the heian era and the fact that sukuna did not recognize the technique back up the theory that the inherited techniques started to manifest only after sukuna got turned into the cursed objects

Yeah, I think that too. Sukuna didn't recognize the six eyes/limitless or ten shadows, so it must mean they appeared after his defeat because we know all the sorcerers of that time came together to beat him. So he would have known those techniques had they existed during his era, especially considering how deep his knowledge about jujutsu is.
that's an interesting headcanon, It's possible that the six eyes and limitless techniques started to appear after the Gojo clan's first appearance in the Heian era. The timeline and the fact that Sukuna didn't recognize the technique could support that theory. It's all open to interpretation, so respect for your opinion too.
@@lavistelle6031 yeah, it's likely that those techniques appeared after Sukuna's defeat since he didn't recognize them. The sorcerers of his time would have known about them if they existed back then.
@@Suto_Ko Yes and also we know that Sukuna was defeated by all the other sorcerers working together. If limitless and the six eyes were truly around they would not need that many people to defeat him and Sukuna would not be so scared to lose to Gojo to the point of going out of his way to steal Ten shadows: he would think a single guy with limitless and the six eyes would lose to him if really those tecniques existed during his reign. Right now Sukuna with 19 fingers is barely holding on against Gojo and without Ten Shadows he would he dead, so I can't see limitless/six eyes being around when he was in power and needing who knows how many other sorcerers to take Sukuna down.
Also we know that the world of JJK works on balance, so when Sukuna was defeated curses probably became stronger and so it would make sense for even stronger tecniques to appear with time
@@lavistelle6031 That's a valid point. If the limitless and six eyes techniques existed during Sukuna's reign, he wouldn't have been so fearful of Gojo and would have been confident in his own power. The fact that he went out of his way to steal Ten Shadows suggests that those techniques were not present during his time. The world of JJK operates on balance, so it's possible that stronger techniques emerged after Sukuna's defeat to counterbalance the increased strength of curses.
Imagine if the story is a metaphor for gojo vs sukuna and after gojo loses the "lighting " that strikes sukuna and potentially ends him is kashimo

1- six eyes are not mandatory to use limitless, actually its said having both abilities is super rare. Other people could use limitless without the six eyes but its a draining techniques. One such member of the Gojo clan was mention to have lost to the Zenin who used the 10 shadows techniques. I implore you to make a bit more research. 3:32 so wrong it almost means you haven't been watching the series or reading the manga. All 6 eyes does is enable Satoru to use limitless all the time as it minimizes the consumption of curse energy to near 0.
I’ve also been wondering since they talk about mahoraga if Gojo was doomed from the start of the battle with Sakuna. Since mahoraga would of already seen the 6 eyes abilities in the past.

The limitless + six eyes user that died against mahoraga is probably only as strong as teen gojo. He probably don't know how to use reversed curse energy and hence can't use red and purple and even to heal himself.
Tengen is connected to the six eyes and infinity users because she keeps killing them, 10 days after their birth because one user was able to defeat her.
Also just because you have the infinity doesn't mean you have the 6 eyes and vice versa, that's why Gojo is a rarity.

When Megumi summoned Mahoraga, the reason why the ritual didn’t immediately end when he was put in suspended death by Mahoraga was because he involved Haruta in the ritual, so the Shikigami didn’t vanish

the lightning is how they decided to animate it bro, Gojo having lightning as an extension is simply not possible. with technique extensions you have to think about what the technique can do and how its applied, megumi has shikigami, as an extension he can mix and match them, nobara uses nails imbued with cursed energy to injure her opponents and can delay the explosion. But Gojo's technique has to do with the manipulation of space, neutral, attraction and repelling. it has nothing to do with lightning

In the Star Plasma arc, doesn't Yuki Tsumuko inform Getou that "another star plasma vessel" managed to pop up, and therefore Tengen merged with her as well? It was another significant point that played into Getou's detreating conviction and therefore his eventual defection. Kinda like a big slap in the face for their efforts. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Tengen DID get to merge with another Star Plasma Vessel in wake of Amanai's assassination. Which begs the question: Why did she evolve, anyway? Or did she perhaps LIE about the supposed turn of events, and chose NOT to evolve of her own volition? . . . Man, I might need to go back and re-read those lore-heavy chapters. There's A LOT;;

Honestly, I think when it comes to the Six-Eyes/Limitless combo, theres a argument to be made that its not the strongest iteration the Gojo clan could have. Like, in my mind I can see a multitude of scenarios where NOT using Limitless 24/7 at near-max capacity like Satoru, would actually be tactically more sound b/c it allows precise control of how the technique is used right? Like not having any idea when or if Limitless is in use or WILL be in use makes it much harder to plan/prep mid-combat against a user of Limitless I feel. Whereas knowing ahead of time its gonna be at max-strength & perma-active allows for a 100% chance of contingencies being made to kill its user, effectively rendering Limitless useless b/c the enemy will just avoid dangerous situations like Kenjaku did to seal Satoru. Combining Limitless with some other wild techniques, instead of having the six-eyes also would potentially make a Gojo clan member much stronger similar to how Yuta has a really broken kit not b.c of unique hax like Satoru but b/c the way his kit is written/arranged he is nearly impossible to deal with unless you yourself have special hax. Also being born with the six-eyes + Limitless isnt a guarantee that the wielder can master or maximize it afterall even Satoru had to basically become a master of all fundamental Jujutsu skills in order to wield his inherited powers *properly* like RCT, Cursed Tech reversal, anti-domain tech, and basically anything else that would negate possible weaknesses. Most people born into his shoes im gonna go ahead & say WOULDNT be able to just master that many top-tier skills/techniques while ALSO being able to make efficient use of them, Satoru has been shown to be a wonder-child & mary sue multiple times as hes a anomaly of the JJK world just like Sukuna. But anyway, I think theres a world where just having the Six-Eyes or just Limitless, would arguably be better than having both due to the possibilities of combining hax together being stronger than just overwhelming *strength* like Satoru has. Even Satoru was out-smarted & out-maneuvered by Toji simply b/c Toji was prepared where most of Satoru's opponents dont even really know the extent of what he can or cant do ya know. Just a thought.
The Six Eyes is essentially useless without limitless and it's somewhat of a requirement to have both. Limitless is a lot more than his ''infinity'' technique which your mixing up. You should watch an analysis video on what limitless actually is. Also for the Gojo Clan there is nothing better than the Six Eyes, so saying there's a better combo without it, is simply false.

I think this Gojo's ancestor is sukana. I think after Michizani lost favor with the king he made a deal with Kenjaku to get revenge taking him from being the beloved hero to fallen one. Only with the power of all the sorcerers of the time and a young hero, Tengen would seal him away.

In a sense how Kenjaku perverse the Natural Laws of the World that every living being either Sorcerers or Non-Sorcerers must die after living a certain time frame?
