You can just sweep dry mortar mix into the cracks, and wet it down afterwards…we do the same with deck posts and fence posts ….just put the mix in dry , Its hard as a rock from the moisture in the ground within 24 hours.

Your pattern is called basketweave. Gorgeous bricks. Great find. Looks awesome.

Thanks so much! That makes sense it looks like a basket pattern. 👍🏻

Great job! Looks awesome with the brick and nice and neat with the concrete block border. Awesome!

If you put level boards on the sides, you can just screed straight across the top and save hours of work making it level

I’ve done a brick patio, but I finish sand between the bricks for two reasons. One is site drainage. The other is that cement/mortar between the bricks ultimately separates and cracks form in which weeds invariably will sprout.

Always but a tarp in your truck bed when you are getting a load. No cleanup required

Hmmmm. Very awesome. I wanted to make a deck but after watching this I might just make this patio cause I have a TON of brick just here.

Better to make your grout crumbly and damp and brushing and packing it into the joints, runny grout is weaker and more likley to stain the brick. Once joints packed you can start sponging right away.

Thanks for the tips on Brick Laying as well. I can build that brick walkway my mom always wanted.

Bad idea, dry mortar swept in would have been much easier.

I will have to test that out some time. Thanks! 😁

After putting dry mortar what you do next ? I like your idea more because I want my bricks to look shiny and nice with no contamination of mortar .

I am so happy I came across your vlogs. I have been putting building a small tool shed, maybe now a greenhouse, to house my yard tools, I also had a huge pile, a pallet full of bricks left in my yard when I bought it. Yeah, for me. I feel that I can possibly do this. Thanks for the useful tips. I wonder if by chance instead of mixing the mortar up, if trying the dry mix in between the bricks and adding water on top? Saw someone laid a small concrete pad with this method. But hey, any excuse to use a power washer, I am there.

A surrounding footing under the border would help it to stay in place.

If you ever have to do this again, use lemon juice to clean the mortar off

It wouldn’t hurt! And it would help limit the growth of weeds.

That border is so high, where's the water going to run off? Under the house?

    • @SimonSaysDIY
      @SimonSaysDIY  Před rokem +1

Yes. Any excess water runs under the shed but you would want to probably leave a few gaps in the border if you can’t drain off to one side like that.

Why try to pressure wash the sand off instead of brushing it off before gardening it?
