You see, the key is to know what you can and can't make stupid insults about. Maybe people will say that I'm just to used to it to understand, but I've had genuine friends with whom I've constantly traded insults back and forth with and never really ended up worse for wear for it.
Of course, we respect each others limits, don't cross lines with each other and are genuinely supportive of each other when we need to be, but we're not above ribbing each other on for stupid things, we just constantly make sure we never go too far and there's always an air of joviality to our comments.
Of course, I'm not saying that toxic masculinity is a good thing or isn't real, but I am saying that focusing on the insult side of it, is losing sight of the issue. The problem with that kind of masculinity is several fold, but what I think these kinds of video are trying to get at is how we are encouraged to constantly engage in this hyper aggressive fight for dominance, where putting down the dreams of others and scarring each other emotionally are just par for the course, and that's just not right.
It's why while I don't particularly like big bang theory, I still find it rather funny when I'm just looking for some stupid comedy. Because for all the insults, the characters on the show never really seem to break the aforementioned boundaries, and when they do, are usually apologetic about it (except for Sheldon, but that's kind of the point with him being emotionally underdeveloped and all)
Big Bang Theory sets up some pretty horrible ideas about what women in science are, and what autism is.
For some reason, I thought you were talking about THE big bang THEORY and not the show (I'm not drunk, just groggy; I swear!).
Honestly, I think that's something most of Hollywood is responsible for, and not just BBT. Hollywood was never the place to look for accurate depictions of mental illness (Split: Good thriller, woefully inaccurate take on MPD).
And you only need to so much as glance at the #Me Too movement to understand that it could use some major help in the representation of women department, heck the treating of women like they deserve to be treated as fellow human being department. (let alone women in science).
Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the show, I just think we should recognize that this problem is systematic and not just demonize one show.

If your friends poke fun at you, but still hang around you, it means they're usually doing it to help you improve. Like if they tell you, your shirt looks like a blouse, maybe you need to ditch the shirt. But most importantly, they're your friends if when you tell them to stop, they will. Friends should feel comfortable enough to give each other shit, but respect each other enough to know when to stop.
If your "friends" do anything but that, they aren't your friends. They're bullies.
