    Here's my take on it all:
    While we cannot "see" the other dimensions in the traditional sense, we CAN experience them to a limited extent. Our memories enable us to see our time, but it's not perfect and our ability to "see" the future via predictions is limited in the same way.
    However, we can also imagine other possible parallel universes through "what-if" scenarios. Again, we're limited, but our imagination can do it.
    For the 6th dimension, we have "butterfly-effect" scenarios that we can imagine. How one thing could lead to another.
    For the seventh to ninth, fantasy. Every world we've thought of in novels, games, movies, etc. represent the different possible universes that could exist. But we have realized them through manifestation. While we perceive them as just "made-up" things, they have become possible because we thought of them and transcribed those thoughts into another form, be it paper, video, etc.
    This leads us to the 10th dimension. Our imagination is what brings all of this together. While we are perceptually limited to the 3rd dimension, our imagination enables us to "see" the other dimensions. Our minds are far more capable and powerful than we think. However, to go beyond this we need to evolve. I definitely think there lie an infinite amount of dimensions.

    3rd - i'm a grape falling down while being blown by wind towards a direction
    4th - i'm a grape falling down while being blown by wind towards a direction at a certain time
    5th - i'm a grape falling down while being blown by wind towards multiple directions at a certain time
    6th - i'm a grape going towards multiple directions while being blown by wind towards multiple directions at a certain time
    7th - 10th - i'm a grape going forward(or backward) in multiple directions while being blown (or sucked) towards any direction at any time
    Why do i even bother.....basically it's just me being a grape trying to survive in a 3 dimensional world hoping i won't get crushed.

    If we're in the third dimension, how come we have time? But we can't be in the fourth dimension, because we only move in one direction. Furthermore, we can't control how fast we go in time. This means we're not in the third dimension or the fourth dimension. Guys, I think we're in-between the third and fourth dimension. Think about it, we're probably closer to the third dimension than the fourth dimension since we can't control our ability to move through time, but think about it. We're in like the 3.2nd dimension, or the 3.3rd dimension or something.
    But how? and why? Are we in a third dimension universe in a fourth dimensional plane? Or vice versa? Was our universe formed by the collision of a third dimensional universe and a fourth dimensional universe?
    Think about it this way. Matter can be turned into energy and vice versa, but we cannot destroy or create matter and energy. We can't make more, and we can't make less. This is required in order for the 2nd law of thermal dynamics to work. The amount of entropy must always increase. We can never create more or less energy, since it would decrease randomness. In the fourth dimension, this couldn't be true. Matter and energy would constantly be created and destroyed. In the third dimension, there is no energy at all, since forces would not be able to be applied to anything.
    So perhaps, a third dimensional universe fused or crashed into a fourth dimensional universe. To cope with the fusion of the different laws of physics, our universe would have to mix and match laws and create new ones. Since energy exists in the fourth dimension but not the third, it would need to be able to be made into matter, and it wouldn't be able to be destroyed, since in the third dimension, you wouldn't be able to destroy or create matter.
    Guys, seriously. I should write my doctorate with this hypothesis.

    • @guilhermeferrao5968
      @guilhermeferrao5968 Před 9 lety +25

      I loved this comment, seriously, but, if you want that hypothesis to be recognized, you should probably look for someone who has some kind of degree in theoretical physics, and not just post it in the comments of some video on CZcams

    • @multimagictutorials

      Guilherme Ferrão What, you think theoretical physicists never watch DNews?

    • @guilhermeferrao5968
      @guilhermeferrao5968 Před 9 lety +4

      multimagictutorials Isn't it easier to ask a theoretical physicist if that theory could be correct than wait for the highly improbable event of, not only they watch DNews, but also read the comments on their videos? I think so. And, yes, I think most theoretical physicists don't watch DNews for these reasons:
      1. They have more to do
      2. They have more credible sources
      3. The videos you watch from DNews are based on their articles, sources and discussions
      4. DNews is for science newbies, like you and me, not for people who have doctorates
      Now, are you going to tell someone who can actually constructively judge your theory and publish it with mathematical help, so, in the end, you might get highly rewarded for it, or are you just going to wait for more people to read this comment so you can have more conversations like these? I would go for B. Just saying.

  • @DSCuber
    @DSCuber Před 8 lety +28

    The series "Imagining the 10th Dimension" explains this whole concept very nicely. Essentially we live in 4 dimensions but we experience 3. The 4th dimension is essentially a line. Everything in history is happening at once. For example, right now I am typing this comment, and simultaneously in the Middle Ages a knight just got killed in battle.
    Think of the 3rd dimension as a single frame from a video. Now take a frame from a video 1 minute later. Drawing a line between them would basically be every single motion/position of that video strung together. This is the 4th dimension. Since the 4th dimension is analogous to the 1st dimension, a line, the 5th dimension is analogous to the 2nd dimension. So, experiencing the 5th dimension would be like seeing all possible branches/possibilities that could result from that one line in time. In the movie, Cooper was in the 5th dimension because he was able to fly around to every single instance/possibility in Murph's room at once. Hope this helps!

Then I wonder if time is happening all at the same time how can one choice in the past result to the current me? I got confuse how the they say we have alternate realities because of choices but how can this be true if the alternate realities is a result of the past. I got confuse I just chose to be in the moment😂😅

I was okay with all the weird physical phenomena up until we find out that it was him doing it all along and that some advanced species was helping us but they never show who (actually okay with that really) i just guess its a personal opinion and that does not mean i am right but to be fair the majority of the movie was good and i am nit picking

    over the entire lifetime of the universe, the ability of matter to form life will only be possible for one thousandth of a billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billion billionth of a percent of it's existence. We are utterly insignificant in this universe, however if there are infinite plains of the multiverse, somewhere in existence you will always exist in some form. If infinity is a practical concept, there is another you that exists, and not just 1, an infinite amount of you, making countless choices with countless outcomes. In that sense, you are immortal and perhaps not so insignificant after all.

    This is actually presented in a way that makes it sound fairly simple. It's also interesting when you think about how we sort of still exist within these dimensions even though we cannot directly observe their "shape". In a way you could say we actually might have some freedom of movement in the fifth and sixth dimensions-like if I decide to eat at KFC instead of Burger King-though even that gets complicated because there's probably also a version of me that DID go to Burger King and...now I've gone cross-eyed.

      I agree. There are a lot of people commenting that - "I'm a physics student and..." or some such. This is a 5:12 video attempting to give lay people a basic understanding of multiple dimensions, and I think he did a bang-up job. It's like if someone had 5 minutes to explain chess - you can give the basics, but you have to simplify, thus, you are not going to be able to be precisely accurate.
      I wish people could accept channels like this for what they are - informational videos that can give you enough data to have a basic understanding and allow you to do your own homework if you're interested.

If you live in then you can't see a person at out and Vica versa that is if the universe is 3D. If it is flat then that would be up and down meaning in and out is the fifth dimension . This is just my idea and I could be completely wrong

  • @daviestj
    @daviestj Před 8 lety +24

    You're a little off on your explanation of dimensions. A point is zero dimensions. No length, no width, no height. You don't get your first dimension until you have at minimum 2 points connected to make a line. A minimum of 3 points is needed for a plane, or 2 dimensional surface, and a minimum of 4 points for a 3 dimensional volume.

    • @antiseize11
      @antiseize11 Před 6 lety

      Agreed. You're talking about simplices, the minimum amount of points needed to make a dimensions, in this case, forms of triangles

    • @antiseize11
      @antiseize11 Před 6 lety +1

      Wrong, 0 is an absolute number, a wave is a point moving through space, how it travels depends on a function of equations that gives the wave it's characteristics otherwise it'll be just a straight line through one dimensional space. Since 0 is an absolute number, it's position in space is unbounded, meaning it can be anywhere. You can either treat it as if it is there or either it's not. Since 0 is an absolute number, it can either be something or nothing. Adding or subtracting from a 0 limits it's position in space, forming into a definite number like 1 or 23. What it takes to return 0 to its absolute position, rather subtracting or adding, the answer will always be "infinite".

    • @antiseize11
      @antiseize11 Před 6 lety +1

      0 can be a function of a wave but it's not the only value to determine a wave function. To put it in strict terms, the function of wave is indefinite. A point on the wave, as you say is not 0, you are correct. 0 is an absolute value, it cannot exit on a line, therefore the point on the line (or wave in this instance) must be a definite valve. However, this doesn't prove that 0 is not a point. As I said before, 0 is an absolute number, you can treat as something or nothing at all. Since it is absolute, it encompasses all of space, adding or subtracting another point limits its position in space. 0 is just "one" point, a wave has an "indefinite" number of points. A single point on this wave is a definite number, when you add or subtract from the absolute value 0, turns 0 into a definite value such as the number 1 or -2. A point on the wave cannot be 0, that is true, but a single point in space (that IS NOT on the wave/line) is in fact a 0. A single point in space is 0, that is why its value is absolute, this space is 0 dimensional because the point has no length, no width, nor depth. Adding another point and you have lines, angles and curves (waves), this 1 dimensional space because the absolute value, 0's position in space is limited to a definite value, a figure in 1 dimensional space has length such as a wave.
      Oh, I stand corrected, the ONLY way 0 can be on a line of any form such as a wave, it MUST be "bounded", meaning that the wave have terminating ends or "boundaries", a point of origin and a point of termination, otherwise 0 cannot exist on an "unbounded" figure.

      @MrAuswest Před 5 lety +5

      Nope - but you are getting closer. ;-)
      ALL dimensions are lines consisting of an infinite number of dimensionless points (try to wrap your mind around that one!).
      Each dimension is perpendicular to all lower order dimensions.
      We use them as a reference to locate and measure things in our awareness.
      We can measure/locate a thing in 4 dimensional space but we cannot live (or accelerate) in full 4d as we can not currently travel in a negative time dimension/direction (although we can measure in the negative time direction and have record of an 'earlier' time than 'now'), or move in time more slowly or go faster as we can in the first 3.
      Trying to conceive of 5th or higher dimensions that are perpendicular to all the first four is where i ( and all other 4D humans) have some difficulties.... :-)
      Imagine you live in a world which is like a flat screen TV and someone pulls you out of the screen at right-angles to it - suddenly your world looks so limited compared to all the other INFINITE (see line #1) new possibilities.
      That's the comparison each subsequent 'new' dimension could give to our universe. I can hardly deal with the small region of this limited universe i've got - what chance do i have of making sense of one with any higher dimensions?

      @MrAuswest Před 4 lety +1

      @@troys7954 Certainly if we are honest (with others, as well as with ourselves) we would say we do not truly know for certain or understand completely what we mean when we use the word 'dimension' - it means different things to different people and is used to describe aspects of our current 'reality'. A reality that no-one really understands exactly what it is, or how we connect to it/are part of it in the same way as everyone else we believe exist with us on this planet.
      We can hopefully however, use reasoned logic to define what we mean when we use the term 'dimension' and be able to find a consensus on our best understanding of the word for the context we are using it in. By sharing our understanding (or our lack of depending upon each individual's prior knowledge and experiences) we can constantly test and update more accurately our shared knowledge and then be able to make bigger and better advances in our combined understanding.
      My comment (which i have reviewed and seen contains some poorly chosen descriptions!) was just trying to clarify the definition of the term 'dimension' as relating to the physical property of this world we (think we) live in, in that a dimension is simply a way of measuring something in a way most of us can agree upon ( but yet we don't?)
      In P Chan's original comment above he used the single term 'dimension' to describe four different physical 'properties': a point ( Zero D), a line (1st D), a plane/surface (2nd D) and 'space' ( 3rd D ).
      I tried to clarify that 'zero D' is actually more of a theoretical construct than a real 'thing' - it is trying to 'define' a nothingness, something without any conceivable measure, which we imperfectly think of, or equate with being as a single 'dimensionless point'. That 1D would be an infinite 'string' (represented by a straight line) of those same 'dimensionless points' all extending in both (opposite) 'directions'. That 2D would be an infinite number of those same strings piled on at 90 degrees to the direction of the original 1 D string extending in both opposite directions (which could then be said to represent a 'plane' flat surface) and that 3D represents a similar extension of the line to the plane to physical 'volume' or, as Chan called it, 'space'.
      In this way we can then go on to IMAGINE 4D and 5D and infinite 'extra' D dimensions by 'allowing' ourselves to imagine something that is at right angles ( 90 degrees ) to all of the 3 right angles we have previously used, to be able to describe the volume or space we currently live and move around in.
      Mathematicians can very easily and simply describe the properties of such 'higher' dimensions and can calculate how different 4,5,6D etc objects would behave in them, and even produce realistic seeming images of them in our limited 3D world in a similar way to the way we can 'see' a 3D sphere (or human!) as being 'real' on a 2D computer monitor or television screen.
      To briefly recap: i use the term dimension (1D) here to quite simply mean a concept for unit measurement along a single line ( in any unique direction), with all subsequent dimensions necessarily being a similar measurement in a single line but at a right angles to all previous dimensions, not necessarily stopping at 3 but not easily able to be imagined beyond 3 by us at this point in our mental development.
      As for the use of the term 'dimension' as equating to another 'plane' or world of human existence that humans might be capable of living in in a different way to the way we do now -i'll just leave that to greater minds than mine! ;-)
      Thanks for commenting.

    We do use different dimensions without realizing it by determining an outcome of our future by using time, gravity and light. Although nothing seems different, we are choosing our outcome of life. If we didn't have the capacity of foreseeing our future by having a "plan", we would all be living in the moment without being able to determine cause and effect. We wouldn't know anything as simple as "I'm jumping right now and I have no idea what is going to happen" but we do, "we will fall back down as we jump", knowing by using the laws of other dimensions

    For example, In front of you, There's a Solid wall, It has opening on its Side, Behind the wall, There's a Triangular object, You can't see it, But if you use Echolocation, You'll "see" the Triangle using the difference in vibrations

    The reality/existence is based on frequency (on/off binary pulsation) and vibration. Once you take that into consideration, then you can see the dimensions as different frequency bands. From dimension 1 through 15. There are 15 dimensions, they are grouped into 5 density levels, each density has 3 dimensions which creates a 3-dimensional reality field. The matter is the most solid in density-1, and the least dense in density-5. Beyond that there's no dimensionalized realities, but very high frequency bands. The "frequency" in my comment has nothing to do with pulsation of any kind of matter or visible light particles, nothing like radio waves or gamma rays, etc.
    It has to do with pure energy before any matter takes any form. To find out how the universe "happened" or where it "came from", there's the answer... Pure consciousness at unimaginable high frequencies, "stepping down" level by level, raising the vibration in chunks, the frequency slows down, and that's how the matter starts manifesting step by step, level by level. What we experience here is merely one reality field in this whole system, the most dense one at that.
    P.S: An example to those who don't believe that anything non-physical can exist: How many times have you suddenly thought of someone, and they either called you or knocked on your door? Or you called them and they said that they were just thinking of you and maybe even wanted to call you or visit you? How could they know? How could you know? So what causes this "connection"? Coincidence? It's proven to be way too precise for that.

And then to explain where you are getting at, like how a space ship moving at 0.99 the speed of light would experience time differently than someone on earth, I just see this as being able to move faster or slower in the fourth dimension, like how a runner would move faster through the z dimension compared to someone walking next to him. I hope this cleared up some things.

      To go back to the original question, based on relativity, all the dimensions are malleable due to gravity. The more gravity, the more distorted the dimensions become. So if you took really accurate measurements on Earth and Jupiter you would find that a meter would be slightly smaller on Jupiter but a second would be slightly longer. But that is only when you compare the two. Going between the two places you wouldn't notice anything because the person measuring would be effected the same amount. And about the big bang, when talking about physics within the universe, the big bang is considered the start of all the dimensions.

    Every entity (real or imaginary) has volume (called, "shape') bounded by X Y Z coordinates AND location in space bounded by X Y Z cordinates. These two sets decide shape and location. Shape(or size') decides volume in space and location decides only point (or position) in the vast spherecial space. Space is also called 'akasha' which is one of 'panchabhootas'. Time (T) is an independent coordinate like X. Hence Y and Z have functional relationship with X. And, T is an independent coordinate which decides formation, growth and disapperance from existence (also called srusthi, sthithi and laya). 3-D Volume is decided by X Y Z, location in space is decided by another set of X Y and Z bounded within a quadrant out of 08 quadrants in the spherical space (that is, 04 quadrants above the place and 04 quadrants below the plane. Time decides / records change. Time (T) is an independent variabble. This T is controlled by God (Supreme Soul). Hence, there is no fourth, fifth, sixth........ dimensions and they have no independent existence. There cannot be different volumes for an entity like 4th, 5th.... and son on dimensions. Kindly respond. With regards, - Nagaraj T V Bangalore

No one is sure about how far other forces could get in dimensions. Remember gravity that is being used as a mean of communication in interstellar, they used that theoretical property. Of course it is really easy to say that forces could break through dimensions since they are basement already, I wish human being or material was able to be in that dimensions. However the only thing that can go through em is forces. Makes sense but kinda sad that we're unable to do so. It reminds me phrases like the only one that can beat you is you.

      @mastertucker Před 7 lety +11

      A few things:
      The theory is that space and time are the same thing, known as Space-Time.
      It's not that there are three dimensions and then just this 4th odd one out - it's that there are three dimensions of space, three dimensions of time.
      Yes, we can't perceive the 4th dimension, that's the point. The idea is not that time is the 4th dimension, it's that our 3rd dimensional beings are limited to comprehending the 4th dimension as the effect it has on the 3rd dimension and that effect is what we perceive as 'time'. But, if one were a 4th dimensional being, it wouldn't be an effect perceived, it would be a dimension one could 'walk' through like the others.
      So it is saying that time IS a dimension of space, or would be to a 4th dimensional being - we just perceive it's effects on our 3 dimensional reality from a limited perspective.
