      You may not need to replace you grass front door. Some triple laminated glass is exceedingly difficult to get through, even with a fireman’s ax. A standard door without glass may not get you any appreciable improvement, but the big window right next to the front door is another story. Thank you for all the videos and keep up the great work!

      @@TheUrbanPrepper Not that i'm particularly biased, but perhaps a 'Dutch door' will be a nice in the middle option? ... They generally look nice (imo) with the middle feature, while they are also solid. Yet they give some extra protection to those inside by having the top and bottom hinge separately (which also means more hinges and thus harder to kick in (esp. if hinges use long screws)), meaning you can keep the bottom part locked while still opening the top to receive packages and what not...
      Another option could be to find a local blacksmith and have them make custom metal decorative bars (or some bar like structure) to mount over the glass portion. I have seen this in the past and a good blacksmith should be able to make a really cool metal guard to make sure nobody get make it through the door even after breaking the glass (and yes those would be like 'prison bars', but as said: a good blacksmith can make them pretty darn good looking ornamental prison bars).

    I understand how to install, but I think I might not be “door savvy” enough to understand how it works 🤔 When installing a pry shield on the outside, the bad guy can easily unscrew and remove it no? Where I live we have pry shields installed on the inside of the door and doorframe. But I suppose that would make it impossible to also install the other armor in the vid. This requires some Googling for me, what if my door security is not at full potential yet? 😱😁

    • @2dividedby3equals666
      @2dividedby3equals666 Před 4 lety

    That shoulder to the door didn't even look that intense. Just shows how wimpy most doors are.

    Always good stuff, thank you! VERY interested in the REAL story of what's going on there in Seattle. Can you do a quick VLOG and give folks a fact-based rundown on the "takeover"? Given what I've seen from different places, I'm pretty sure that we're not getting the real story on what you all are dealing with there.

    Well, if you didn't have any doors at all, there wouldn't be a problem, would there? 🤔🤔🤔

    The main thing is slowing the perp down. Get to a gun and a phone before he gets in.

    Bear in mind this also slows firefighters from accessing your garage. Security is always a game of trade offs.

      Watch a few fire entry videos here on CZcams. That door would be breached in seconds.

    Make sure you don't turn your home into a prison.
    If the boys in blue decide to "No knock" you at 0300 and get the wrong property by accident, these door frames ain't going to help. Probably better spending the money on a large, illuminated house number sign instead.

    This test makes me think a deadbolt up high on the weak upper corner isn't a stupid idea.

    Yeah... Meanwhile large parts of the world use front doors that instead swings outwards instead of the stupendous way of having yhem swing inwards.. Try kicking one of those in. Good luck.

    Sorry. May stop some teens looking for beer money but I could get in there with a 9lb sledge.

    You don’t need those extra plates. The longer anchor screws will harden most doors. Waste of money.

    Hi. You have a bad problem there. You will need to repplace that door. It is hollow inside and now you have damage it. It is not secure. See a carpenter to give an opinion, but in mine, it is seriously damaged. Take care.

    It is shocking that builders use those tiny screws when a 3 inch would provide so much more protection for a few more pennies.
