  • 'We're in crisis. We've had people getting in touch saying they're not only asking their other halves to take out their teeth, they're taking out their own teeth. How has it got this bad?'
With shocking yesterday as hundereds of people in Bristol waited in line just for the chance to register for the dentist. With only 4 in 5 dentists accepting patients, its becoming harder for people to get the care they need.
Susanna Reid asks Health Secretary Victoria Atkins how UK dentistry has got so bad.

Labour are who caused this. Them opening the flood gates of immigration has over populated and over whelmed our infrastructure. When governments make changes it often takes a decade or more for those changes to show their full effect. Many problems we have now are due to destructive changes labour made. Not that I support Conservatives either who have had over a decade to improve things but haven't. Neither party care about us. Think outside of the uni-party or things will never improve.

    • @darkwoods1954

@@craig3420 because when labour was in government the country had not been over populated yet. But the reason we are over populated now is because of the changes Labour made. Changes governments make often take years, even a decade or more to show their effects. Don't be short sighted. Not that I support conservatives either, they have proven to be useless.

@@darkwoods1954Labour does the job in any country because they focus on the poor. Doing that means that poor people are in the budget, and when that happen the poor can buy more food, generates more jobs and gets the economic wheel spinning.
The Tories concentrate their efforts in big corporation gain such as industry tax exemption, oil, gas, energy, arms manufacturing and so on

Shame they need to launch a recovery plan to recover from their own policies of the last 14 years. It was the tories in 1991-2 who lowered the amount paid for each dental treatment by 7%. The dentists told them it would result in them leaving the NHS and taking more private patients.

It’s up to both parents monitoring their children with how often they brush their teeth and if they even do so, plus making sure their children don’t have too many sugary treats in their diets, and dentists for regular checkups as they are critical for good dental hygiene, definitely not teachers. Teaching about how to look after teeth for science and PSHE is as most as it should go.

Now in 2024, it seems this government has taken us back to the dark ages, and yet they will not acknowledge it and refuse to take responsibility for their own failures.

We have 68 million so at least 60 million will need dentist checkups every 6 moths so that’s 120 million visits per annum. How many dentists do we need. To do that ? 10 patients per day. 200 per annum. that’s not including treatment so double that to 240 million visits . We need 120,000. dentists. Idont think we have that many with only 1,4 million in the nHS There are 33,000 registered. In the uk. So we can say we can only see. 25% of the population.
