My husband and I have played the Fallout games since Fallout 1. Our son has played most of them too. Of course, my husband and I have also played the Elder Scrolls games since Arena too. We are all very invested already. We're waiting for Saturday to binge-watch it because we work full-time weekdays, and our kid's still in school. Plus, I want to fix a bunch of appropriate foods to have on hand when we binge-watch. So far, from what I've seen online, it looks like the writing, casting and production have been ideal.

I really hope this series respects New Vegas and doesn't shit on it, I'm sure it won't do so with Fallout 3 and 4 and their endings and Bethesda specifically asked them not to contradict any of the possible endings, but New Vegas has a special place in my hear, more to the point if this show can co-exist properly with New Vegas it could be better for it.
Seems like the NCR is going to be destroyed for this TV show so probably will mess with New Vegas.
@@lavenderlunacy Not necessarily. Shit happening to the NCR AFTER New Vegas doesn't matter. This show takes place after Fallout 4 and thus after New Vegas. Pretty sure it's around 2290 something for the show right? So then NCR could have declined or maybe even entered a civil war of sorts.
@@lavenderlunacy I don't really get how that messes with New Vegas... New Vegas was 2281 and this show is 2296. It's not like it's set BEFORE New Vegas and is retroactively changing stuff. This could simply be the state of the NCR now. We need to be careful about what the declare is "messing with" this that or the other because it could just as easily be a story between 81 and 96 that has the NCR hitting on hard times. If the damn thing was a game named New Vegas 2 it wouldn't matter so why should it now. Personally, I think we should give the show room to breathe, then if it sucks we roast the shit out of it.

Looks good, except the Brotherhood of Steel seems to be mischaracterized as some sort of peacekeeping organization. In the games, they just wanted to steal and horde technology for themselves.

anyone else concerned about the seeming lack of NCR? California is supposed to be mostly rebuilt at this time, not a wasteland.
Brotherhood from the east coast sent reinforcements with a brand new hot air ship. Who knows what others toys they brought to crush the NCR. I guess it depends on the New Vegas ending that’s cannon too with all things considered. NCR wasn’t at its best shape then and not controlling Hoover Dam/trying to control it could’ve drained a lot. So many factors, I am excited to see some BoS vs NCR tho. Remember Helios One.
@@natepiercii I saw a video talking about that, apparently that's not the prydwyen it's a different ship. I kind of have doubts on thst, it doesn't seem to make that much sense. I think they just decided to rewrite everything but idk I guess we'll see

The trailer literally has scenes of the NCR fighting the brotherhood... plus the flag has been seen in photos on set. They no doubt will be in the show.
The question now is what happened at Shady Sands and what is left of the NCR...?

Its not the bombs that end the world, its the radiation sickness and collapse of society. So you end up with something like this.
Alternate reality scenario. In this universe the atomic bomb never evolved past what destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, other small details like the transistor not being invented until around 2050 or 2060 made the Fallout universe's technology AND culture evolve very differently. I can't remember for sure but I think the Vietnam War and all of the 90s wars never happened either. Instead we got an elongated Cold War that culminated in the annihilation of the world on October 23rd, 2077 in less than 2 hours.
Eh, I’ll hold most of my judgements on this till I see it. I just really don’t like that they’re using Fallout 4 as a template for this. New Vegas or the first 2 games would’ve made a better starting point.

I'm glad they're excited about building on the many years of lore and story that has led to this being a much loved franchise. Here's an idea - make sure you don't fuck it up for political or ideological reasons, no one likes that.

Gonna be difficult to not address that stuff. The games deal with some pretty heavy topics.
The games already deal with same sex relationships, slavery, slavery of self aware machines, prostitution, drugs (chems as they're know in Fallout), rape (at least in New Vegas not sure about 1, 2 or Tactics, pretty sure it is never directly mentioned in 3 or 4), murder (of course), war (big duh), what it means to be human, morality and the gray areas therin when considering hardcore survival. I feel like a lot of dumbshits are going to scream WOKE when the series already fucking covered some of these topics before woke was a popular fad.
i always expected rooster teeth to produce the first Fallout TV show, fitting how the Studio got shuttered just last month. I still think this pales in comparison of what couldve been, choosing the comic color shading over realistic tones in set design offsets the perspectives theyre trying to communicate to the audience.

Todd passed up many opportunities to turn Fallout into a movie or TV franchise until the right opportunity came along...
The writers, directors, actors, and showrunners are all very good at what they do.... and they have seemed to have nailed the tone so far which is the most important aspect to getting this right.
If the show bombs, it will more likely be because it just didn't catch on with the general public.

I mean shit looks on point to me? I know they're using the Fallout 4 aesthetic for the assault rifle which is nonsensical and looks goofy AF and is almost unanimously hated but that's a tiny little grievance. The floaty power armor was a bit goofy but I guess if the show succeeds they'll get a bigger budget to do better effects right? I dunno, too soon to doomsay the show isn't it?
