It is a priviledge to be a paediatrician, to be with innocent world of children and to take care of future citizens. Almighty keeps them healthy always.
Amen. Props to you Doc, God's Grace is with you always
As you said, pediatricians, unlike other specialties, rarely get totally excited by a difficult case. Nothing is more fulfilling than seeing a healthy child grow and thrive.
Yes, And I have always enjoyed being with those innocent faces 😊
Nothing like caring for the next generation of doctors while they still want to be astronauts and before they want they want to be ninjas.
Kids can be adorable lol

I am an 8 year old and ever since I was 6 I’ve always wanted to be a pediatrician. This is the perfect video for me. My mom tells me every single thing I can know about a doctor. She is not one, she just knows stuff.
You’re too cute! You’ll be a great doctor someday if you keep focused, like you are now. PS: you’re a great writer, especially for someone your age. Most adults in comment sections have terrible grammar, so good for you!
Thank you so much! You are super nice! Want to know the things I know so far? (About being a doctor) also sorry I didn’t reply right away I was sleeping
Also I got a new hat yesterday! I love it!
I think you can be a great pediatrician!
@@kv8938 thank you!
I quit my job at 34 to go back to school to become a Pediatric Oncologist. I finished my pre-med coursework. Only thing left is the MCAT.
Never too late I love that!
Did you restart with a new BS to obtain the pre-med coursework or how was your process? I’m interested in learning more because I’m in the beginning of this new journey
@@Lawtinagirl Looks like in your grad picture you went to a UC-school? I’m at UCSD right now. It’s quite the process. It really depends what your major was, but if you already have a bachelors, then you’ll either do an SMP or a Post-Bac to get the premed work done. There’s obviously a ton more that goes into it. You didn’t go to UCSD did you?
I'm 14 year's old now, ever since I was 12, I wanted to be a pediatrician. As I love children so much. I'm so determined to be a pediatrician. I'm so excited 😄
Damnn sameee, I'm currently studying in 10th and I just want to become a pediatrician!

May I ask what did you major in college to become a pediatrician?

Wishing you the best!! I hope all goes well.

The average pediatrician works approximately 50 hours per week. This includes time spent in the office, visiting patients in the hospital, doing paperwork and being on call. 👍
So about 10 hour days?
$124 per hour on average tho..
@@alyssamadio3238 Is that not a lot? This is a genuine question, I'm looking to go into med school and want the best option for myself.
@@megantyson8070 it’s a lot! look up the starting salaries in your province! u can have a six figure income
I’ve recently made a significant switch from elementary education major to a biology major to try and get into medical school for pediatrics. I have many young siblings and nieces/nephews so I have lots of experience taking care of kids already and I find enjoyment in taking care of them. I can’t wait to see how it’ll translate into my fatherhood days.
I’m about to start medical school soon and your videos have definitely played a huge role in informing me about the field of medicine and getting me excited for the next decade of my life!!! Thank you! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
You've got this!!❤

How’s medical school so far?
In my country Pediatricians only see patients aged 13 and below. It's pretty interesting to me that as a 24 year old I would have to see a pediatrician if I lived in the states.
Not necessarily have to see a pediatrician (at least where I live in Florida) you can see other doctors. I believe the 25 yr old age is simply the cap that pediatricians can practice on. If anyone wants to fact check me feel free but that’s always what I’ve understood
Yes, depending on the practice, hospital, and insurance, people ages 18-25 are given a transition period where they can find an adult physician to continue their care. As a 24 year old, you don't HAVE to see a pediatrician, you can transfer care at any time during early adulthood.
s
My pediatrician sees patients up to 22.
@@saralee8996 You can transfer even before that. Family doctors are allowed to see teens and even children. I switched at 13 and no problem.
I do think pediatricians have a great place in our childhood memories, I fell sick with pneumonia almost every year as a kid (till i got into my teenage) and multiple years my healthy got critically bad, i do remember the doctor who used to treat me then and it pretty much makes me thankful that he treated me well that time so I could grow up healthily
worked as a pediatric medical assistant for 3 years , now I’m in med school and I can’t wait to become a pediatrician 🥺
How do you become a pediatric medical assistant?
Good luck!!!
Yes same question here, how did you become a pediatric medical assistant?
“so you want to be an endocrinologist” please 🥺👉👈

Reproductive endocrinology is what I’m interested in!

Can you do "So you want to be a Neonatologist" Please.✨
I second this!!

YES!!!
I’m 15 years old, but since I was about 7, I knew I wanted to do something health related. At the time I imagined it would be a nurse but being a pediatrician gets my attention. I really have no idea of the future, but I really hope I end up doing something I love.
aww all the best to you!
Thank you so much for this video, @Med School Insiders ! It was incredible to watch: it felt like every piece of the puzzle fits me. Before med school, I was a preschool tutor & I loved the dynamic of working with my students & their parents. Building relationships was the most rewarding part for me. I have a soft personality and try to be optimistic at all times, even as I suffered academic adversity in cardiovascular & nervous system blocks. This summer I get to help out on some hospital quality improvement research back at home. I'm so close to finishing year 1 & it's so reaffirming to see all the pieces of my dream and personality in this video!
I'm 15 years old and I want to become a Pediatrician in Germany.😊
Thank you for the video...😊
I want to become a pediatric emergency physician soooo bad !!!! Starting college soon on a pre-med track
🍀 Good luck!
You'll make it. You'll do great.
omg update us!!!
Good luck! I am too!

Thank you so much! I’ve been wanting to know more about pediatrics, since I’m not that sure about the path I truly want. So much information in one video, this channel is so helpful~
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!
This brings such a clearer view on what I want to do in the future. Also I’ve been heavily interested in advocacy work for children’s rights, I didn’t know that it was something pediatrics has in common! This is making me even more excited!!
I'm struggling to know what I want to be without much experience. I know about the field of pediatrics and it may interest me because you get to learn about the well being of children and help them throughout their development but I also want to do exciting things like surgery. But there are also fields outside of Medicine that will need less studying but may be just as fun and exciting.
Thank you soooooooooooooo much for making this video, I have literally been checking out books on pediatrics but it doesn’t compare to you!!!!
For me, the best medical channel on CZcams ❤️
So excited for this video! It was so well done and I learned a lot! Definitely worth the wait.
Even though im not interested in this specialty, THE VIDEOS ARE GREAT DR. J. Your narration is getting better and better and so, all of the videos are excellent!
Thank you :)
Would love to see So You Want to be a Family Medicine Doc!
Since I was in first grade i’ve always wanted to be a doctor, and I am very serious and excited to take on this journey when I'm older
I'm 16 and my father is a neonatologist, I did some internships and volunteering with him
There's nothing more beautiful than to take care of kids
I grew fond of this specialty and I pray that I can study under my father
I saw a lot of things that happen behind the scenes and I know it is not easy
He would make his students cry for the simplest mistakes but again new borns are so fragile and he primarily deals with problem babies
I volunteered at the children emergency room after the 7 magnitude earthquake hit our city and I fell in love with pediatric medicine
I made up my mind now I have to pull myself together
Good video. I completed my internship few months ago and pediatrics was always what I liked before it. The thing is during my internship, pediatrics was kinda brutal, the amount of screaming kids, placing IV lines on tiny hands, parents giving children herbal medications before coming to you. It was painful, yes the relationship with parents was good, but it's tough really tough that I ran away from anything peds but it's still a good profession and reconsidering it despite the experience
I have very bad asthma i almost died in 2019 and in 2021 and because i was always in the hospital i saw how parents and children suffer so thas why i want to be a doctor i love helping people and everyone and children like me alot
Wow great video as always ! ER doc here. We work in Peds ED as well. They are NOT small humans they have their own specific characteristics.
Been waiting for this one!!! Would really also love to see an Oncologist episode in this series, too!
Can we see Allergy and Immunology in the future too? (No rush. I know there’s a list)
Where do you see the list
I have wanted to be a pediatrician since I first formed memories.. I will get there one day!!
YES I've been waiting for this one 🙌🙌
Aw I can't wait to be a pediatrician. This was very fun and informative to watch. Thanks
Yes finally!! Thank you, been waiting for this! Really want to become a pediatrician :)
I have been waiting on this day!! Thank you so much for the insight 👍
At last.....the long awaited one 🥺 Thaaank you sooo much 🥰🥰🥰
my pedia doctor influences me to become one, she's my doctor since i was a toddler and now 21😂 already an adult but she already knows how my body works so we really trust her😂
ABOUT TIME!! Thank you so much!
I'm so excited!! I have been waiting for this video!!
I'm 14 and I want to become a Psychiatrist someday but somehow I also want to become a Pediatrician, the reason why, is because I have a personal pedia since I was a baby and she became my younger brother's (4 yrs old) pedia as well. I've been into hospital a lot as a young kid for monthy check-up or when I am sick (I rarely get sick) and the time when I had dengue. I'm always on my pedia's clinic and we're very close. I grew closer to her as I grew up and she became a role model to me, I also have a heart for kids that's why I want to become a Pediatrician, and if I became a Psychiatrist I want to focus on children. Hoping that I'll find the path that God wants me to be~ Lord guide me 🙏 And for those people who wants to be a pediatrician as well, GOOD LUCK~ LOVE LOTS GUYS!
I am 13 and my dad is a surgeon and my mum is a midwife. They have told me all they know and I really want to be a paediatric surgeon and this video is really helpful
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve waited for so long for this video 😭😭
Yayyyy! The video that we’ve been waiting for is here!

Thank you for ur hard work and for showing us what being a physician or a specialist mean and all about each specialist doctors. Could u make a video of so u want to be a Physical Medicine and Rehab specialist Please. Thanks .
I hope to see “so you want to be a family medicine doctor” and what’s their difference with a general practitioner?
Me too
i think family medicine and general practice are the same thing, just different names. family doctors are usually in north america, and general practitioners are in europe? feel free to correct me if i’m wrong
Family, internal, and pediatrics are all general practioners you just choose the population you want to work with, which is kids adults or both.
Would love to see So You Want to be a PM&R doctor
I have been waiting for soooooo long for this to come outtttttttt😍😍😍💃💃💯💯💕💕💕💕 thank you sooo muchhhhhhhhh
Omg I’ve been waiting for this video! Thank you!
Please do one on Family medicine and maybe a video about whether research is required for med school and how to get opportunities! Thank you!

I’m 11 and every since I was 5 I’ve wanted too be a pediatrician! I love kids and I was scared of the doctor when I was younger..
So I really wanna help other kids get over that fear in positive ways!

Great video Dr.Kevin.
Can you please make a video about "How can international med students match into residency in the US?"
Thanks in advance.
Yes
Waiting this
Loved this SYWTB especially, and discovered that apparently I would be an excellent fit for this specialty if I was becoming a doctor. :D (Future nurse here.) I was a bit surprised though that it didn't touch upon the huge antivaxxer-parent problem in the "what you won't love about _____" section. By any chance, will there be a video coming soon about that and how future doctors/other providers should handle antivax parents, or the deep depression that comes when kids come in who became severely ill because their antivax parents didn't immunize them? (As I'm sure many do. :( )
I feel like if i were to become a doctor this would be ideal for me since i prefer the social aspect in things.
Minor correction: social situations with children are often more work than adults for doctors, and largely depends on the financial status of the community.
Thanks for the upload! So you want to be a physiatrist (PM&R) please?
Preventive medicine please? Great vid!
Curious, what was med school like for those who pursued this field? Especially during the last 2 years when you're doing rotations, especially doing electives that are closer to what you're pursuing
