The funniest thing about Syll'Esske for me is that after the duo gained status and basically made their own faction, the various Hedonites looked at them and were like: "Hmm, they must be doing something but I don’t know what… THAT'S IT! It's obviously the combination of mortal and daemon power that's doing it!" So you have a good portion of the Syll'Esske faction being composed of Mortal Seekers, Twinsouls, and Hellstriders. Not realizing that it's actually all teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect. But then again, you wouldn’t really be much of a Hedonite if you readily saw people as equal to you.
Who would have thought that one of the most stable, fair, loving, and wholesome relationships in Warhammer would come from Slaanesh followers of all people?
Makes him a perfect model for my emporers children army, I was already thinking about him since he had a human form so it fit the theme but the backstory breaks my heart and makes me really want him in it ( currently only 750ish pts since I'm waiting for the codex to push it to 1500pts)
I just wish we had new mortal units. I have played aos slannesh now and can say this.1) they are crazy fast. 2) demmonnette blobs of 30 are deadly 3) the keeper of secrets is scary 4) depravity points are easy to get so take a fan 5) the mirror and the masque are both very good, the masque spent much of the game on 1 wound and just kept healing and killed a unit of ironjaws but itself. 6) The chariots hit hard but are made of glass.
I love these videos about slaanesh and I have a slaanesh army for AOS and 40k I have the start collecting box and 2 slaanesh parts of wrath and rapture. I played this army in 40k but not in AOS yet but I just got the battletome and I love it. I have 54 models in my army.
These have all been really good. Easily the best AOS lore vids out there. In honor of slaanesh release and to go along with your book club may I suggest the next book to be Black Pyramid?
I'm wondering if they're planning a proper Slaves to Darkness release eventually, so they're starting to save up the mortal unit ideas for that? That would be good, especially as you can use the Slaves in the gods' armies too.
Hey Doug i would like to say that i appricate all that you do. I was just getting into the hobby w 40k and i watched a few videos that led me here. I have watched atleast 80 percent of your vids and I am an AOS man now. Wish I could contribute more than just honeyed words. But thank you sir. You are a gentleman for using your vauled time on us.
I dig these lore videos man. Clear and concise videos about a single topic. I've been thinking about expanding into AoS and these small dives into each race/group have been a ton of help determining where I want to begin!
Hey Doug! Did you read the expanded story of Syll'Esske in last october's White Dwarf? I thought it was a very cool addition and as tragic as can be when considering that the protagonists are depraved daemons :)
There's been a few odd choices recently. Back in Maggotkin of Nurgle book, mortals riding daemons (the plague flies) had both the mortal and daemon keywords. In Hedonites of Slaanesh, and Blades of Khorne (at least the new version), mortals riding daemons only get the mortal keyword. I'm wondering if this is going to be the norm from now on. And Valkia the Bloody, described in the battletome's lore section as a 'winged, daemon queen' has the mortal keyword, not the daemon one. Odd choices.
