I prefer jar candles. Once the wax gets to the bottom of the jar it's time to throw it out. I never use pillars or stick candles because I think they are unsafe. Of course there is risk with jar candles too but it's fairly low as long as they are kept away from combustible objects. I light them on my dresser away from walls and curtains. Haven't had any issues yet!
