- This video collage that I made is for the song "TOAD" by Cream.
The song was written by Ginger Baker (born Peter Edward Baker).
This is the original recording from the 1966 album, "FRESH CREAM," but with a new stereo mix. Some people may like this new mix, but some purist may not. Enjoy.
Note: Paste " &fmt=18 " after the url for the stereo setting. - Zábava
I don't care what anyone else says-- Ginger Baker was the greatest rock and roll drummer of all time.
Ginger Baker is one of Englands best drummers. Anyone who dose not agree with this just have a listen to this master piece of timeless music. G Baker you truly are one of kind and a hell of a brilliant drummer.
Great job - you moved Baker out of that tight little corner and put him center stage and gave the solo all this new breathable space. Brilliant!
Man oh man those drums are awesame.
Great!! 5 stars and straight into favorites(Well, this has been a favorite of mine since 68'!)
Vale Ginger Baker :( Thanks for some of the best drumming I've ever heard...
Fabulous MIX, Stratman! A little justice to the greatest Rock Drummer of all time!
Saw him twice! Got a Ginger Baker drum stick.
@VIDJACK Thank you! That was one thing that really bugged me about the original mix was that Ginger Baker was only on one side of the stereo spectrum instead of being in the middle. So I decided to give it a little remix & here was the end result. I tried my hand at remixing Cream's 'Disraeli Gears' (the original version, not the remastered) but the remixes didn't sound right.
Great observation.
They didn't really know how to mix stereo properly, and"Fresh Cream" is one of the best examples of this crappy mixing
Your mix makes it seems as if the bass drums are coming out of the middle, as it should be.
Great job !!
Incredible synergy! Saw them live too...
Tremendous!
This is incredible!!!
Thank You Stratman78 - more!!!!!
Brought into the modern era-definitely adding to the experience.
Wonderful thanks
The Bests"
... and all is right in the Universe.......... :) THANK YOU!!!
Ha, HA. That toad's better looking than Ginger. But on drums, Ginger is my hero. Hands down. Many drummers inspire me. Some play congas, some play timbales, and some play drum kit. But on the kit, Ginger is the master, for me at least.
Great Mix !!!!! Great Toad !!! Thanks :}
i like how you included pictures of toads thats incredible and cute
@rich4828 Thank you! Even the live version of "Toad" is mindblowing as well.
Ginger Baker the Beast !!
Kick Ass mix man!!!!!! Cream should hire you to remix their albums!
In the 60's this and santana's mike shreve were the two best drum solos for rockers, they seem a little primitive now, but the pioneers get extra credit. the rumor in the day was that Ginger was flying on speed, which makes sense. Keith Moon was also another 60's great who literally exploded.
Yep. I mixed this myself.
Lovely video and sound. I have included it in my Let There Be Drums playlist. Many thanks.
@Stratman78 : nice work!
Great Mix !!!!! Great Art !!!! Thanks :}
I dig your mix - good job!
@CrossTownDrummer You are welcome. As for the Facebook posting, you got my full permission!
I also did the same thing with Cream's and Jethro Tull's "Cat's Squirrel", The Beatle's "A Hard Day's NIght" and Cream's "I Feel Free" (but that on was way too compressed at the time of that posting when CZcams was experimenting with sound). I can also remix a very large number of songs (mainly early 60's to around early 70's, depending how it was mixed).
Finally...someone that knows what they are doing!!!...Great Mix!!!!!!!!
Great sound, thank you. I wanna find the version of this when he was working on it with Graham Bond.
Brilliant! Great video. I learnt to play a double drum kit by playing along to this! Always good to have Clapton backing you ;-)
Thanks! Enjoy.
Excellent mix. Too bad the whole album can't be done like this.
@MrFriscokid Thank you. Glad you liked it.
SUPERB mix!!! Thank you so much for the enhancement; you've corrected one of rock's greatest recording tragedies with your "doctoring efforts." {The original and most commercial remixes are just plain horrible}.
I'm going to post a link to this on GB's Facebook page - it's that good!!
Cheers and kudos!!!
@gccarcit You're welcome.
Sounds like the original stereo mix with tons of echo overdubbed. Sadly, Ginger left us today.
@fredg136 You're welcome.
It's f...ing loud! But IDC, still listening to it /w full volume. :-)
@palmerstonian Well......I have ways around it. I can't give away the secret on how I did it though. :-)
Stratman '78 Activated the Mono button on the pre-amp or receiver, perhaps? 😜🙋🙏
Another great psycho joins the Great Gig in the Sky
