  • A realtime video from start to finish showing how long the Foil Drive Max Power battery lasts. Used the Foil Drive app and set power to high and turned off boost mode.
    I’m 6’0 and probably about 185lbs or 84kg when I shot this. These figures are just to give you an idea about the factors that go into the ride time of this particular battery.

    So I've got no experience with FoilDrive, but I've seen you out there with it. So sick to see you get started on a bump that a SUP would not even catch. And then take off for the outer reef. The gen 1 goofy box/battery was a cool concept. Gen 2 is a proper rig. I can't imagine a potential Gen 3 board with an integrated/built-in battery and controller.
    What a time to be alive... "I'll be at the beach soon. Just gotta charge my board."
    Always rippin! I wanna learn airs like you

    Great video. I couldn't watch the whole thing. First 3 minutes and last 3 worked for me to get the gist and overview of your setup. Thanks

    Thanks Paul! When you get time will you please release a short tutorial video on the small board/small front wing start technique tricks that you taught Eric from Progression Project while in Florida? I surf the weaker waves in Florida/gulf coast side and curious about starting the 125 with the boost at 0% and keeping it up and flying consistently in the surf. Thanks for the content you’re putting out and keep rippin!

    Really good video. I would recommend doing the same video in similar conditions but with the FD Slim and Performance battery to show the difference in how long that will last. Also a short video on your take-off technique with controller in mouth and how you attach it to your arm. Are you able to pop up on that small board and small front wing set up if you had the controller in your hand? Even though there are a lot of videos out there on pumping technique, I always enjoy watching and hearing what each person has to say about their pump technique. Also videos on downwinding with FD.

    Nice riding Paul, just wondering how you got that board balanced so well, My riding and powering positions are quite different, I have to move my feet back a bit when poping on to the foil, then I have to move forward to motor out...
    Do you ride with the mast in the same position with and without foildrive?

    • @paulcooperfoils
      @paulcooperfoils  Před 5 měsíci

      Howzit Wesley. Great observation. I actually ride it where I normally ride without the FD. When I’m motoring I’m constantly leaning fwd. if you watch my body position my shoulder is more fwd over my front foot.

    Thanks for making this full session video! Doesn't look like the drag from the pod is impacting your riding even when mast height dips down -- can't always keep it high and dry although you do quite a bit when unpowered. 15cm or 20cm FD cord length, looks like 15? When do you use the Slim Performance versus Max? Where do you position your mast, an inch or two back from the front of the box?

    • @paulcooperfoils
      @paulcooperfoils  Před 5 měsíci +1

      This is actually a 12.5cm cable. So it’s pretty close to the board. The slim performance combo is the best feeling by far. Run time is shorter but if you set everything to low with no boost it’ll last way longer.

    • @paulcooperfoils
      @paulcooperfoils  Před 5 měsíci +1

      My mast position is exactly where I have it when I’m not using the foildrive. I always recommend finding the mast position first then add the FD.

      @@paulcooperfoilscan you flat water start the slim with no boost and hand paddling or do you need a bit of a push from a wave? That's the last one in my question allotment :). Thx

    • @paulcooperfoils
      @paulcooperfoils  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@ericjhoppe1 regardless if it’s a max or slim when I use that small of a board and foil I’m unable to flat water start it at my weight. However I do only need a slight bump to get it going.
