Exploding Tanks, Leaking Warships, Fragile Jets-China’s Arms Quality Angers Bangladesh Military

  • In recent years, China has been exporting weapons to developing countries under the "Belt and Road" initiative. However, it wasn't long before reports of accidents started coming in from countries like Bangladesh, leading to criticism that the products were substandard.
Over the years, the Bangladeshi military has bought a lot of equipment from China: army cannons, air force fighter jets, and navy ships. They thought they were getting a good deal, but soon enough, problems started to arise. The most notable incident was in 2013, when Bangladesh bought the "ultimate version" of the Chinese J-7 fighter jet. Within just five years, two of these jets had crashed. Bangladesh questioned the quality of the Chinese products, but China refused to take responsibility.

@mah7961: Why blame the Chinese, you get what you pay for. Aircraft, Submarines, and Destroyers are not mass-produced items. They are produced like one-off borrowing design cues from their predecessors. There is a reason why the European & the US manufacturers charge so much more in time and money for their stuff. There is no way to short-circuit it without consequences.

Products aren't sub-standard, they actually failed every single the quality tests so that is why they were deliberately painted red and exported - Tofu Buildings and now Tofu Military Equipment. You think you are getting a great deal when you buy Tofu products, because you must use on the day of procurement, because after that they rot, decay and collapse. I remember a friend visiting a Chinese manufacturing plant and asking why their ISO9000 certificate in reception was out of date; they looked perplexed. When the meeting finished 2 hours later, walking out, my friend saw that a new certificate with an update date was now in the frame; ink still wet. Looks like they turned around that audit and fixed all their quality controls in record time. It is all a fraud. Thank goodness they produce all that crap, because if they produced quality products, we should all be worried. Paint it red to pass the quality test; send crap out to customers but make lost of money, close down the compaints department, run away with all the profits, then start a new venture under a new name and repeat - what a great repeatable business model.
