You listened to a traditional and original Iranian song. This style of music is specific to Iran and the Persian language. In this style, the poems of great Iranian poets are usually used.
The singer is one of the current masters of this style, and his father was a great legend in this field.
Understanding this style of music is sometimes difficult even for Persian speakers due to its rich and heavy meanings.
But even if you do not understand it, peace will penetrate into your soul.
    Nice job mimi❤️

TAR means even string in Persian, (very thin thread is called TAR), the instrument in called SETAR, SE means 3 TAR means string, so an instrument with 3 strings. We have TAR as well. For sure GUITAR is related to this word. because Persian and Ancient-Greek Language have lot is common.

@@nahidmaleki3120 It is a tanbour. Only 3 strings (you can count the adjusting screws), and the playing style with 4 fingers is specific to tanbour, too. I agree with you that the acoustic chamber size is smaller than most tanbours, more like a setar. But there are no setars with 3 strings since Moshtaqalishah added the 4th string to setar in 19th century.

What a deep meaning! He does not sing about the love between man and woman but about the love for God.

SETAR and TANBUR are almost the same, there are differences. dont fight over it. But physically it is TANBUR, but if you change the frets on TANBUR, you can have SETAR notes. TANBUR doesn't have the normal notes that we know of (even Half Step (ROB-PARDEH) has no meaning in tanbur). now adays they fret the tanbur in different way (more close to Standard notes, half step and quarter step), as its body is bigger than SETAR, so you will get better acoustic sound.

Lyrics in the song by Rumi talks about state of " libration" , by elimination of " Self " ,"I" , "myself" "mine " "me" also giving up "fame/name" and subsequently meeting "Divine universal Love " , dissolving in ,and becoming one ,with "beloved" . That is what ,we know in the west as state of "Union" . It is the core of all Sofi's poetry .If you understand those lyrics, even by translation , and get to know the phylosophys behind , and between those lines ,then that song will take you to a fantastic mystically ecstatic level !! No words and no thoughts can explain or picture it..... only Music and poetry, hand by hand....no efforts needed.....

This is about divine love. Rumi -- mystic --- is describing the stages of his purification until he becomes worthy of the source of all love (in his view God).
Rumi -- Molana Jalal-al-Din Balkhi (Rumi) -- was a renowned scholar of his time. Having everything one seeks in earthy life, he was not satisfied and seek the truth. He then became acquainted with a Sufi called -- Shams Tabrizi -- who teaches him to drop fame, praise of others, and materialistic life and purify himself.
When you hear "I was like Mercury sitting in circles to gain more knowledge and then he says that he realized knowledge alone can not guide him to his beloved, hence he broke his pen". This refers to knowledge that might bring about pride, arrogance, and narcissism that is a veil in front of one's eye to not see the divine. It is very difficult to translate these poems to another language; they are sound so good and have deep meaning in Persian. The English Subtitle is an honest attempt but it is more like a literal translation that does not convey the deep meaning of this poem.

The term Tanbur (Persian: تنبور‎, pronounced [t̪ʰænˈbuːɾ, t̪ʰæmˈbuːɾ])[a] can refer to various long-necked string instruments originating in Mesopotamia, Southern or Central Asia.[1] According to the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, "terminology presents a complicated situation. Nowadays the term tanbur (or tambur) is applied to a variety of distinct and related long-necked lutes used in art and folk traditions. Similar or identical instruments are also known by other terms." These instruments are used in the traditional music of Iran, India, Kurdistan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.[2][3][4]
